Man i was expecting you'd know by now (600+ posts) that we simply dont know any thing that detailed about Arma yet. All we can say is 'I hope so'

I belive in one of the VBS modules its possible to walk around in the back of planes and around inside vehicles, so its certainly possible with the current OFP engine, and VBS1 being a slightly more modified version of the engine, and Arma being a even more modified version of it id say it could be very possible we'll have walking around inside (and on top, in the case of a boat) of vehicles in Arma. But i wouldnt hold your breath intill we get somthing solid.

After playing BF2 I can't imagine not being able to walk on ships biggrin_o.gifyay.gif

Well actually the ability to walk on MOVING ships was cut in BF2, and walking around on static ships like those in BF2 is allready possible in OFP. I think the title of this thread should be changed, because walking on a ship and walking on a MOVING ship are 2 different things.

it wouldnt really be of any gameplay advantage to be able to move around on a ship ingame - preferably i actually just want to see boats in armed assault, little rigs, landing craft etc.

It would because then you could use AA launchers when being attacked for example or run around to different gunner positions on really big ships, shoot from inside trucks, air craft etc etc

Not that important but it would make many new things possible in missions.

i would imagine that the most effective way of handling that would be to have hot keys for movement from passenger to gunner in say a humvee

anyhow, how realistic is it to be manning several gun positions at once huh.gif besides more than likely you will not be a sailor in game biggrin_o.gif

It opens up a some possibilities, boardings, cqb on the deck of a ship, assaulting the bridge of a ship, etc.

lets not forget that this wouldnt just effect ships, but other vehicles too! like being able to walk around inside a cargo plane ect..

Could even do fun little missions with mid air anti terrorist operations on a passanger jet, or even in a cruise liner. Maybe a 'Defend the cruise liner against pirates' where the pirates try to board the ship on inflatble rafts whiles the crew has to protect the civilian AI and fend of the pirates with limited weapons and ammo. biggrin_o.gif the possiblitys are endless

well when you put it that way notworthy.gifwink_o.gif

yes that sounds cool - very cool

i wouldnt hate Arma for not including those ideas but damn they would be amazing if they were included - boarding enemy vessles etc. pistols.gif

We've gone over this at least 3 times already biggrin_o.gif

The end result is always the same: noone knows for sure, if it's possible, and everybody starts dreaming about boarding passanger planes using other planes and then it will turn into another topic about politics

Oh, it's definitely possible as this has already been implemented in VBS1. It's just a matter of whether or not it will be included in ArA, which I believe was the question asked.

Besides, aren't all threads here speculation threads, and I hope for threads? Since the nice people at BIS don't bother answering questions. whistle.gif

And if it's gonna go political in the end then I think I'll join the Pirate Party.

well if armas incorporates improvements already in vbs1.

i hope so...

These are add-ons available for VBS1, and are not part of the core product. So unless some modders decide to make and release them, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for things like the NBC and Artillary modules(NBC module still isn't available to the public for VBS1). The ability to walk around on vehicles however was added to the core by way of patch, so there is a pretty good chance that it will be included in ArA.

It does show the capabilities of the new engine though, so these things will be possible to modders if they are willing to try them.

What About Tank Dassant? (riding on top of tanks) That was a main tactic left out of OFP

Its very possible to achieve, so I can't see why they'd leave out so significant a feature. You'd be able to move a heap of stuff with a tank whether your towing a vehicle or carrying a squad on top and another on a piece of tin behind.
