theavonlady 2 Posted November 7, 2005 Der Bastler's OFP Maniac Map was a great invention at the time. Now Google has stolen the idea and come up with Frappr. Here's the OFP Players Map I started up last week. You can enter your name, text message and an accompanying pic and your pin will be placed on the map automatically. You can append addition text to your entry later. You can also view the whole world map or zoom in on a particular area. Pretty easy and flexible to use. Roll call! Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted November 7, 2005 Lol, but as always this data is stored online by a thrid party company. And as always people do not like to share their location and info with a data-resale company. I had worked on version to style up the map locator a bit, but got lazy in the end! so yes it sucks! Best seen at 1024 resolution with IE http://www.1aschnitzel.com/maplocator/world.html

There's nowhere to enter any email address or otherwise. So who cares! What? IP addresses? So?

WhoCares 0 Posted November 7, 2005 ...There's nowhere to enter any email address or otherwise. So who cares! What? IP addresses? So? As you mention me, it seems not to work for me - I always get the message of an Error on the page At least here at the office that is - might try it at home... Define *.frappr.com as a trusted Internet site. 2. Remove any add blocking against the site, in products such as Symantec Internet Security, etc. EDIT: MaxRes, Tigershark! So? nah, you get me wrong there. I think it is a good idea, no doubt. But in the end I still feel I share some data with a site and somehow they must profit from it. So there must be SOME sort of use. I consider building this map for my own purposes and storing it on my own server is simply better. It is personalised and the data is not being used for any secondary purpose at all! However, here you dont have to do any work at all. And maintenance is also outsourced. So it definetly has great advantages!

I don't think this is important enough to mess with the security settings of my office machine - not to mention that I don't have local admin rights and won't be able to do it anyway

theavonlady 2 Posted November 7, 2005 doesn't recognize when I type Sarajevo It's there. Type it in the CITY field (first make sure it's not set for US cities), wait a few seconds and it will fill in "Sarajevo, Federacija Bosna i Hercegovina (Bosnia and Herzegovina)" for you. Then click the ADD ME button.
