belgerot 33 Posted September 27, 2005 Indeed it is very impressive. The fortification in game reminds me of an old Viking/Saxon type, especially with the design/look of the shields mounted above the gate. The catapult looks very nice as well, will there be an actual ammunition it will launch?
stu 0 Posted September 27, 2005 At the moment they're just static models in game, getting them to fire shouldn't be a problem.  They weren't that hard to make i've had plenty of practice at modeling and plenty of free time over the week to make them @Dr.Grant,  I wish i could afford such a program  I saved alot of time by finding most of the textures on the net most of the wood textures came from "This Site" There's some great looking textures on that site if anyones looking for some. @Acacyn,  Yeah i used to injoy playing AoE online Legion war's anyone For the ammunition the Onagers will have a huge rock and the Ballistas will have a huge spear missile and if possibile each one will have the option for flamming ammo
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted September 27, 2005 For 3DS, use the trial and that plugin I guess, or ask a friend with 3DS, or, "aquire it" via means everyone knows about, but we're not allowed to discuss Anyway, looks really cool When the models are animated, and you've got decent drop-effects (for flaming arrows and the likes), it will look fecking amazing I hope to... everywhere that you've god decent LODs done on them (or plan to), so the highest lod is a good model, but it quickly drops to lower quality, so you can have lots and lots of models on screen - Ben
Dr.Grant 0 Posted September 27, 2005 Quote[/b] ]@Dr.Grant,  I wish i could afford such a program did i say anything about affording it  i could lend it to you if you want  Quote[/b] ]The fortification in game reminds me of an old Viking/Saxon type, especially with the design/look of the shields mounted above the gate. and indeed the germans gauls and brittons use these fortification types
belgerot 33 Posted September 28, 2005 I was going to say, would be nice to have some Germanic 'tribesmen' to face the Romans if that is what might come
CanadianTerror 0 Posted September 28, 2005 These look great! I used to play AOE/AOM before as well.  But...I dont get the point if theres no troops to use them. Static eyecandy? EDIT: Quote[/b] ]Yeah it would look better with some romans, i may make one or at least try too Ok, at least theres some thought of doing that. But if you arent really into making troops seriously, why not get some  newsposts at ofp.info or something asking for interested people to help with that aspect. Look at the civil war mod, im sure people would be right into playing this as its unique for OFP.
stu 0 Posted September 28, 2005 Yeah i plan on giving them all decent LODs so you can have lots on screen Quote[/b] ]Dr.Grant Posted on Sep. 27 2005,23:05-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote  @Dr.Grant,  I wish i could afford such a program  did i say anything about affording it  i could lend it to you if you want  I'll stick with O2 it's the only program i can be botherd  to learn how to use   I did try Gmax once it was an nightmare  They will be useable i've started on getting the Ballistas working, hopfuly i'll get that finished soon.  I think the hard part well be getting them to look realistic when they're being moved. As for infantry i've not really tryed making any until now, i had a go at making a roman soldier i've not done much to it but "Hear's a Picture" as you can see there's still alot to be done and it would be great if anyone would like to join in and make some infantry units maybe like belgerot said some Germanic or gauls 'tribesmen' and a small village for the romans to lay siege to. belgerot 33 Posted September 28, 2005 That Lorica Segmentata (I believe it is called) is looking very nice so far, looks like a good and firm start. Would be nice to control individual units, or even to fight from a first-person view rather than compared to RTW. I really hope that you find help, I never would have thought to see such beautiful objects in game
stu 0 Posted October 2, 2005 I thought i'd give an update on things. Â I've decided to make that small village and some roman and Germanic infantry as well as the Siege Equipment. Also id like to thank belgerot for all the information and research he's be doing for me

Dr.Grant 0 Posted October 4, 2005 i would love to see axe battles
belgerot 33 Posted October 4, 2005 That hall is looking better with each picture, I am speechless. That axe is coming along well, too, I hope you do find a decent texture for the axe head. Maybe a dark textured metal with metallic tip at the blade where it is sharpened?
stu 0 Posted October 5, 2005 Quote[/b] ]Dr.Grant Posted on Oct. 04 2005,17:16-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i would love to see axe battles   Yeah with throwing axes as well, now that would be fun @belgerot,  I've had alook around and have found some textures that may look good on it looking over tho's link's you send and yeah your right i think it would look best with the dark texture and metallic tip. thx again btw.  I've also made a Germanic two-edged sword which i'll post some pictures of once's i've gotten the textures done. Some more pictures of the Hall i put a better looking roof texture on it.  The out side is finished and i've started on the inside now. Dr.Grant 0 Posted October 5, 2005 try making an inside ground texture .. some kind of mud-hay mixture
belgerot 33 Posted October 5, 2005 Very nice job Stu! I especially like the plaque of the Sun that you added in the inside. Cannot wait to see the Germanic sword
stu 0 Posted October 6, 2005 @Dr.Grant, thats the kind of texture i was thinking of myself for most of the buildings tho i'll also have a stone texture for another building i'm doing this one will be bigger than the hall @belgerot, i was hoping to get a pic up but i haven't gotten the textures to look right just now but theres a small preview in that banner i put together with the roman soldier holding the Germanic sword  and  shield.
belgerot 33 Posted October 6, 2005 Looks spot on from looking at that banner, very nice job The Roman soldier looks good as well, is the shield he is holding Germanic or Roman? I'm not sure whether it is at an angle or not, because I remember Romans having oval shields of that sort that the cavalry (from what I remember) would use. Again, very nice job, cannot wait to see more of your work.
sander 14 Posted October 6, 2005 Hi, Oval shields of varying types (flat, dished, curved) were in widespread use by the Roman armed forces. While use of oval shields by auxiliary forces (both foot and horse) is generally better known, legionary units are depicted with oval shields as well, like for instance Castricius Victor of the legio II Adiutrix. A Roman version of Operation Flashpoint would be wonderful. Keep up the good work. Regards, Sander
