Hopefully we get this first patch out real soon. First and all upcoming patches will be the EDITED files ONLY. This means the patch will be small, depending on which files we edited. MACV SOG 0 Posted October 4, 2005 There's a bug with objects. Some of them are missing (like helopads, trenches) in editor (empty\vte objects or civilian\vte objects). Â BUT the update process was a nightmare, since i've only used the addons from the pack i now had to install the rest (unwillingly) to make the patch work and clicking thru every file wasn't that much of a joy either. next time i'd rather download a 300+mb file and overwrite the whole thing. would be much faster.. oh and one more request: could you add dak seang island to the pack.. and while at it, fix it too. ;D Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
PainDealer 0 Posted October 4, 2005 after 15mins of freezing, swearing, banging and eventually dragging and burying my comp to the nearby field I decided NOT to install the patch. so if there's even the slightest chance to have the 350MB megachunk of data that takes almost 20mins to download then I'll take it. Just patch it again, be careful of the pbo's which you patch as there are several of them. I will add the new beta sometime in the future (but dont hold your breath, it will be weeks, minimum heh), meaning it will be another 330mb or more. But I still honestly believe that it is more suitable to have a small patch + small tinkering than to overwhelm mirrors and everyone with big download. Patch #2 is on the works at the moment. This is quick and small patch of the edits made between Oct 4th and 9th, they were only concentrated on config edits. Next patch which is basically already underway will be again much larger, resulting no doubt to another messy upgrade :) People have requested another Full install (even with the price of 330+ mb), I am aware of the fact that this patching might cause problems to some users, however its a tough world and VTE is sill an "Open Beta", which in my book justifies little tinkering. Be patient guys, when there has been enough edits we will of course release full install. ESFD 0 Posted October 8, 2005 Ok, bugs I found using patch #2 -F-5A: MG has weird angled effect. -M551 Sheridan: Freezes game. -Daisycutter is dropped on the plane crashing it. -PT-76: "Cannot load mipmap VTE_Land\pt76\i_det8.pac" nothing serious happens though. Make sure you have the original first release of VTE installed, then do Patch #1 and after that run Patch #2. Should work just fine when you patch all asked pbo files nicely.
