gandalf the white 0 Posted August 12, 2005 On their site .. some of that fan art is pretty sad can find the "normal" sketches, but no artwork made by fans... . hellup!! I think Stalker's graphics will be "old" by the time the game comes out, wich means it will invoke allot less interest from the BF2 audience... ...good, you might say... but that also means there wont be any little brothers getting the game and get hooked on it

There is some VERY NICE done sketch work made by fans some even made scenes in 3d MAX!!
Pathy 0 Posted August 19, 2005 Somehow i think there will actually become a point where graphics wont age much from game to game. At the end of the day you can only get so close to real life graphics before you cant get any closer So i think Stalker will still look really good when its eventually released. I am really excited by this game, it looks sooo good Something in me thinks this is probably going to be the true heir to the Deus Ex throne (and not Deus Ex 2, bleh what crap). Well, if thats the case, i dont mind waiting till theyve got it all sorted.

At the end of the day you can only get so close to real life graphics before you cant get any closer  Actually graphics had been in a loooong lull until games like Farcry, Doom3 and HL2 came out. Now there is an acceleration going on...watch out for real time HDR Lighting in the HL2 expansion, plus (IIRC) dynamic radiosity! Current realtime graphics are still a fair way from real life, but HDR is certainly the next big step. (HDR = high dynamic range...google it )
Colossus 2 Posted February 6, 2006 Yet again S.T.A.L.K.E.R is delayed, this time the release is set for Q1 2007 Quote[/b] ]In the conference call accompanying the publisher's quarterly report, THQ also settled a matter of great confusion. Earlier this week, the Ukrainian developer of the sci-fi PC first-person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl sent out an e-mail saying that the game "is on the stage of beta approval." While THQ didn't address the developer's announcement directly, it did say that the game is now scheduled for the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2007 (January through March of 2007). NKVD 0 Posted February 7, 2006 they should pull the plug on that game already
D.murphy man 0 Posted February 7, 2006 man its getting rediculous now, how the hell a publisher manages to keep a game going for this long and not pull the plug or rush the developers to kick it out the door as soon as possible is beyond me. Lets just hope that the final game will be worth while and not just a huge waste of time, how long as it been in development now? what was the originail release date? 2004? Heatseeker 0 Posted February 7, 2006 I've read that nvidia pulled the plug on sponsorship, several developers abandoned the project, and they were having a hard time recoding the game for DX9 amongst other stuff. Never played the beta but i think this game will be dated by the time it comes out, if it ever comes out that is . I was interested in it at some stage but atm all i see is yet another mutant shooter, waste of technology imho.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted February 7, 2006 Never played the beta I did(dont even try to ask, its illegal to share ), it contained 2 maps, the weapons where done but the anims were far from finished, AI was pretty good in though, especially for a BETA. It didnt have that whole "life simulation thing" as it just contained 2 maps, apparently they used it for the earlier screenshots. BTW: This beta was very, very old, it still had some functions of wich the devs confirmed that they are out. Ah well, im still looking forward to it, altough i gave up on the waiting, ill just get it once it comes out  EDIT: Beta is Alpha, i thought, cant remember as i havent seen the folder in a while, might need todig it up again..
