Spai 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Well, i have done a couple of new weapons, they works perfectly in game but...with no shadow. I've read tutorials and other posts, but i can't resolve the problem. Here is my lods specifications: 0.350                 lodnoshadow 1 0.7                   lodnoshadow 1 1.5                   lodnoshadow 1 2.194                 lodnoshadow 1 5     788 points 462 faces  lodnoshadow 1 7     255 points 185 faces memory view-pilot               lodnoshadow 1 the values of the other weapon are similar, with 287 points and 80 faces in lod I didn't put the lodnoshadow in lods with less than 300 faces...but...nothing!! I've tried almost everything, what can i do?
nephilim 0 Posted May 31, 2005 either try recalculating normals (F5 when selected) or optimize the model in oxy ( structure>optimize) have u swithced on the shadow option in ofp?
BennyBoy 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Also, make sure your classname is the same as your p3d name.
nephilim 0 Posted May 31, 2005 @bennyboy this is only improtant if u want to use setobjecttexture else its not necessary...
BennyBoy 0 Posted May 31, 2005 @bennyboythis is only improtant if u want to use setobjecttexture else its not necessary... It can't hurt though Sometimes If you copy all your points from the lod which you think should have the shadow to a new lod, set the name correctly and delete the old lod, then the shadow will start working - just one of those crazy o2 things. Spai 0 Posted May 31, 2005 Ok, I have done an optimizacion and recalculate normals, but it doesn't work. Mmmm...also my shadows are enabled....i can see other weapons shadows perfectly. I have the .p3d name only in cfgmodels class, is it correct?
SelectThis 0 Posted June 1, 2005 Some things to try. 1) As a test, swap your model for a working (ie one that shows a shadow) model in the cpp. Just redirect the model line to one that works. That should narrow down the problem between cpp or model. 2) Post your cpp so we can have a look at it. 3) Try adding in a CfgNonAIVehicles section to the cpp. STT
Spai 0 Posted June 1, 2005 I found the problem. I put a working .p3d file (laser's m24) in my addon - change the name - make the pbo, and the shadow works! So the config file is ok. But I've done another thing, I make the MLOD of the same file, open it in Oxygn, save it with the same name of my .p3d file, make the pbo...and there is no shadow. Same file, same config, but different ODOL-MLOD format.....so, how can I resolve this?
ebud 18 Posted June 24, 2005 try this. open o2 in 2 windows, one empty, one with your mloded model. copy and paste each lod into the new model, then you have to add in the named properties again if needed. I found that when you mlod an odol model, weird things happen, and if you just copy and paste the lods into an entirely new model it works sometimes to fix the shadow issue. col_kurtz1979 0 Posted March 2, 2006 Sorry to bring up an old thread here, im having the same problem as the guy who began this thread, ie. no weapon shadows. Ive followed all the suggestions put forward, with no success. The only thing I havent tried is what Ebud suggested... The trouble is I dont know what he means by 'mlod' and 'odol', I dont understand his post correctly.
