o2 crashes when switching to texture mode

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm new to all of this, and I am trying to follow Brsseb's tutorials. I've installed o2 the way he described it, using the batch file to map a drive, etc.

When I get to the part where you have to apply textures by pressing 'a', o2 crashes. I've read this topic but it does nothing to fix my errors.

Oddly enough, I tried to apply a texture halfway through writing this topic, and it worked. Then I closed o2, retried, and then it didn't.

If anyone has any insight into this problem, I would be really greatful!

Thanks,

Reggy

Something that I've noticed: It only quits on me when I have Buldozer running. If Buldozer is off, I can apply textures no problem.

Now it appears to be totally random. Please gentlemen, I only post because I am new to this and would really like to learn.

If anyone has ANY suggestions, or if there is some information that I can make available, please let me know.

Can you give us some more information?

Where is your Buldozer.exe located?

Where is the p3d, texture files of the addon your are currently skinning located?

I've been experiencing something like this as well...and as you say it is totally random. Most of the time it works without any problems, but then some days o2 just will not work!

No matter how many restarts or even reboots, it just refuses to not crash when I press "a".

REALLY annoying, frustrating...this must be what it's like to have erectile dysfunction - you REALLY want to do it, but your gear just wont cooperate... crazy_o.gif

what size did you set for the textures 512*512 or 1024*1024 etc etc

What do you mean? What size the texture is or what size texture I have set in OFPPREFs? Maybe that will make a diffrence...? Better try it out  wow_o.gif

I have this exact same problem sad_o.gif  It's incredibly annoying!

Except mine crashes if buldozer isn't even open.  Always when I press A though.

I can't work on anything in O2 with this error  sad_o.gif

EDIT:

I just checked that thread in the first post, and moving my O2 folder to my C drive but keeping buldozer in the Z drive fixed it  biggrin_o.gif

EDIT 2:

Arghh, now it won't load textures, just stays null. So looks like we are gonna have to figure out why it's crashing

I remember having had the same problem on my previous

pc. OK, after 2 or 3 restarts, o2 didn't crash when hitting 'A'

key.

Now on my new pc i didn't notice a single crash when hitting

'A'.

My o2/buldozer setup is now like that:

E:\ofpedit i made to Z:\ (virtual root drive)

[in my bat file i have: subst z: e:\ofpedit]

external viewer: Z:\buldozer.exe -noland -dx -window

(which is in real e:\ofpedit)

dll folder: z:\o2 (which is in real e:\ofpedit\o2)

A1b texture name prefix: z:\data (in real e:\ofpedit\data)

Not one single crash anymore when hitting 'A' like i said

On my old pc i had everything on root drive c: (real not virtual)

My apologies Vixer, for not replying swiftly. I asked to be notified if there were replies, and it didn't give me a heads up. Thanks for replying smile_o.gif

Buldozer.exe : C:\OFP\Buldozer.exe

Texture files : C:\OFP\NameOfAddon\Blueprints

o2fixer.bat : subzt Z: C:\OFP

NOTE: The crash occurs before it even allows me to select the textures. They are of correct size for the odd time it does work, the textures show correctly.

Hadn't thought of it that way, but it is accurate enough. smile_o.gif

Assuming you have managed to apply textures in the past and its gone wrong suddenly....

FILE -> OPTIONS -> Start in 4 views...

Set this to off.

Then when you load up O2 press F9.

Remember to quit and reload O2 for changes to take effect.

..

All this is assuming that you have the paths and the -noland set right. It happened to me and this is what I did to get round it.

My advice is to download (or if you still have Buldozer zip), overwrite the buldozer files with the ones from the zip.

I had problems (infact, it started happening again an hour ago) with buldozer, so I did, and will again reinstall buldozer, and it seems to fix it's self (Everytime i done something, I got the "Please wait, operation in progess" screen for about 5 seconds.. Really annoying when all I did was place a vertrice...)

from my experience its the virtual drive that creates this trouble

u simply can leave away the z: drive (or wotever u call it)

its not necessary

simply stuff every dozer and oxy file in one folder

eg

C:\progs\oxy\

paths woudl looks like that

Buldozer.exe : C:\progs\oxy\Buldozer.exe -noland -dx -window

Texture files : C:\progs\oxy

texture prefix : data\ (this must be data\)

also make sure u didnt make any spelling mistakes in the options prompt or in the folder names itself

i hade exactly the same problems b4 i figured that out

I agree with nephilim.

I have never used a virtual z: drive for Oxygen or indeed for Visitor.

Oxygen is in C:\EditingTools\Oxygen

Buldozer is also in there and the options are made to suit.

Seems to have sloved it, thanks a lot biggrin_o.gif

I'll prob keep the Z drive as it's easy to get at, and keeps the stuff in one folder, keep keep O2 paths beginning with D:\ofp\ etc

Seems a bit weird why the path (or the SUBST stuff) would cause errors, but oh well

Thanks again smile_o.gif
