SWAT Units v1.1s

Recommended Posts

Alright its SWAT v1.1 not 1.1s. tounge_o.gif

Also I chose to use standard BIS M4 so that anyone can download it without any addon dependencies etc; I do not know where *pops-pl* and *jacek* got the textures, I found them in the pack. Regarding the SWAT Truck it should be out soon, but the SWAT van will be along way away, or it could be soon, depending which way O2 favours. wink_o.gif

from this site AR15.com Ammo Oracle

And it is not only this site who says it you will finde info on this meany places.

P90 ha no good gun biggrin_o.gif the small round can penetrade but the wounding capability is not good enough also the mag. has some issues, thats what I hear enyway. looks cool though and its small.

STGN

Eh, the only issue with the P90's mag is that it holds more and doesn't jutt out of the weapon? Besides the P90 was ment to replace the MP5 and other 9mm SMGs, not the 5.56 big boys...

no if I remmember correct, the gun does not perform very good in dusty/sand conditions, I think its was because of the mag and the rotating. -I unfortunetly can't remmber where I read it sad_o.gif

There were some colors more in R6. Would they follow for this very nice addon? I mean urban2 (black-white-orange), sand, green, grey and the both desert colors?

And I think they need all skimascs. And maybee you can do the light version (without helmets, only skimascs).

is it posible to make shilds for the SWAT to hide behind?

Yeah, and I want that Sansei SG-3 in OFP too! tounge_o.gif

I think the best way to make those shields would be a vehicle, where the gunner and the driver are the same unit (like in PC's horses). Then you could "get in" the shield and shoot with a pistol from behind it. Of course, the others could use the cover provided by the shield too, like in real world.

Yeah I agree. A "vehicle" class shield would be very cool. The only difficulty however would be the custom animations required. You'd have to make the person into a turret so it would be a little odd and his feet would be the wheels.

You could also attach the shield using an attachment script but it would probably act rather wierd when you went into different positions. Although..hmm... now that I think about it... didn't FDF or CSLA make some police with riot shields..or maybe they just had batons... I don't remember.

Anyways, maybe Philcommando or someone might try messing around with riot shields.

Yeah, philcommando is the right man when you want to wreck another engine limitation.

FDF has just batons, but G8 Urban War released a riot police with baton and shield ages ago... Shame the AI doesn't use it, but I don't think a vehicle class shield would be AI friendly either. Or well, any CQB unit ain't.

I wish Lobo Team let us use their units from the H&K pack to do something to complement this.

About ammunitions and so on, you guys are arguing about ballistics and weapons, what should SWAT units use as weapons, and so on, but I also remind you lot that we talking about Operation Flashpoint, and that SWAT units are going to be very limited for armor, ammunition and AI movement in FIBUA.

I find that the best answer for ballistics in OFP is the strait forward one, because bullets won't go through walls, objects, or vehicles, so a 5'56 and a 9mm won't have anything to do if the target is hiding behind something solid, so we should just concentrate on direct damage to the unit.

%'56 is a light ammunition, pointed, and it can be very lethal at medium ranges due to the fact that the bullet will behave very different on a short range and on a long range.

On a short range will probably over shot a target, meaning that it may go in and out kipping a very similar trajectory before and after the projectile penetrate human tissue.

This is due to the small size and high velocity.

On a medium range, 200 to 300 yards, the bullet will still have a flat trajectory and high velocity due to the light weight of the ammunition, but once the bullet enters human tissue it will change its trajectory, creating more damage than on a short distance. Some times the trajectory can vary up to 90 degrees, inflicting a lot of damage to different human organs.

%'56 at long ranges can have very poor performance. It do have a flatter flight path than a 7'62, and it can conserve more speed at flight than a 7'62, but the 5'56 loose a lot of power at long ranges once it penetrate a human body, maybe causing a target to be injured instead of neutralized.

9mm is another story, due to the shape of the bullet, it will have a very short trajectory compared to a pointed kind of ammunition, but the energy released into human tissue at short ranges are massive in comparison to pointed projectiles.

9mm have a big range of materials and modifications to the projectiles; hollow point is very efficient at close ranges.

I should also point that the reason why some forces around the world are changing some of their 9mm arms to 5'56 is because of different approaches and fighting techniques used by police and CT forces.

About GEOS and Guardia Civil, their weaponry needed of an update for a long time, and I think this is just a way for them to update their arsenal and maintain compatibility with other Spanish forces, but I haven't seen them for a long time because I moved to the UK 10 years ago, but there and then the Guardia Civil was using CETME, Llama and Zeta, I don't know about the GEOS though, they been allways a bit in the Shadows like the British SAS.

Regards.

@CERO.

The 5.56 is most dangours close up as it starts spinning forward and fragments more but the spinning first happens after a couple of cm's penetration so if you shoot ex. a skinny man the bullet might first start spinning after the round has left the body.

The 5.56 needs atleast 2700 fps to fragment properly and that is why the round is more likely to wound than too kill at long ranges.

@cero, the HK pack isn't really LoBo's. That's Vipersheart's baby. You'd have to ask him about using it, but I'm sure he'd be ok with it as long as you gave him proper credit.

Many a times have I seen by them in formation running into buildings and shooting out of windows on that map. Its very cool. tounge_o.gif
