EiZei 0 Posted February 5, 2006 I know Im not completely usless, but that helo I didnt shoot down killed you all with its Arty spotting, The view distance was horrible on that mission, plus I didnt know I had lock or not, the AA launchers really need to have a sound for lock on. As far as I know that has been a problem always and FDFMOD team has not been able to solve it despite their efforts.
llauma 0 Posted February 5, 2006 I recommend all to spend an hour testing different weapons in FDF so you have some knowledge of how it behaves prior to standing face the face with the enemy.

kakagoegie 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Something weird happened to me last night. I got disconnected from the server. OFP couldn't find it anymore. TS was still active, but nobody answered my call. What was going on? It happened around 23.00. Have I been banned or something like that

sputnik monroe 102 Posted February 7, 2006 I just tested my internet connection on a site some one refered me to. It said my download speed is 680 and my upload varied between 300 and 600. Would that be fast enough to play online? Â If it is fast enough, would it be possible for me to perhaps join you guys some night? I would love to play some co-op but I always assumed my connection was to weak for online play so I never bothered. PS... I am a team player, I use to love to play Rogue Spear co op back in the day but no one else did, I even have played two OFP co op missions once a few years ago. I'm not a big fan of death match. wheres my rabbit ? 10 Posted February 7, 2006 if thems kb's your internet connection is by far good enough to play online
sputnik monroe 102 Posted February 7, 2006 It is KB. The test if any one is interested is at www.speakeasy.net/speedtest I tried the test again, this time I got 400 upload 200 download. I tried again a few minutes later and it was 600 up 300 down. Seems my connection is jerky. Would that still be a ok connect speed, the worse case scenario of 300 down 200 down? sputnik monroe 102 Posted February 7, 2006 Well I just played a game of flashpoint online now. It seemed to work but my ping was always over 1000. It was a co op but nobody seemed to be in charge and no one worked together. I hope you guys are better than that. The 1000 ping, that probably means I can't play doesn't it? Do you guys have any advice?
Sniperwolf572 758 Posted February 7, 2006 I got 1612kbps download and 163 upload on that test, and I get around 60ms on CiA server. IMO Anything above 300ms is very unplayable, but if you can live with it, then you are fine. Altough I don't know if CiA is enforcing some "No players over #ms". Balschoiw 0 Posted February 7, 2006 We are not enforcing ping limits. It´s just a matter of playability. If your ping is permanently over 400 or more it will be almost impossible for you to play without serious lag, warping. Additionally we have Teamspeak 2 running. That will eat a little bit of your bandwidth aswell. Just give it a try and have everything installed and running and try to connect to server. It´s permanently runing so you can try anytime you like to see if you get a decent connection to the server. What kind of connection to the internet do you have btw ? Modem ? ISDN ? How fast is your modem ?
Radnik 18 Posted February 7, 2006 @Sputnik: I have 64kbps or 7.6KB/s, WLAN connection, which is little more then standard 56kpbs modem, so i guess speed doesen`t have to much with it, but with ISP connection quality. First month when i got speedy net i had high pings on CiA too, like ~350ms, but then my ISP changed main ISP so now i have ~40ms, with 64kbps , and very good stable connection. I suggest to give a phone call to ISP and exchange some words (that`s how i solved my issue.) ISP=Internet Service Provider -edit- just realise you talking about KBs ... sputnik monroe 102 Posted February 7, 2006 I'm on a satellite connection. I did a little more research last night and it seems a little gloom. Basically on a satellite no matter how fast your connection you will always have at least a half second delay as that's how long it takes for the signal to travel to space and bounce back from the satellite. I always knew satellites were no good for gaming, I just got kind of optimistic after I tried that test and saw I had what seemed to be a good download and upload speed. I'll give it a shot though, if nothing else I can play a medic or be a pack mule for ammo. I need to download FDF 1.4 and the teamspeak program as I only have FDF 1.3 and the desert addon. So I wont be able to test it until tommorow I don't think.

First of all you need to have a sufficiant ping and once you have that the bandwidth matters. Of course you're allowed to join and try it out but it won't be very pleasant with a 1 sec delay. Had I've been you I would have looked for alternative connections and change as soon as possible. Online gaming is worth it. @Rädor aka. bartmann I guess we might update it but it's not my first priority.
raedor 8 Posted February 7, 2006 @Devil (now I know how you got that name ): Ok, thx. @Sputnik: Maybe you'll become the new king of the pings

Major Fubar 0 Posted February 8, 2006 I use this as my standard modem test page: http://homepage.eircom.net/~leslie/testpage.htm (I get around 653200 bps, or 653 kbps) My ping is sually around the 360 mark when I'm on the CiA server (since I'm on the other side of the planet to most others), but I rarely get any more lag or problems than anyone else. In fact, I get a lot less disconnects than many others. So it isn't just purely connection speed, it's also about the reliability of the ISP connection. It's also not a good idea to have other programs running that suck up bandwidth, especially things like file sharing programs. But the best idea is just to stop by for a game, and see how it handles.
