Recommended Posts

Quote[/b] ]

Since I've installed the newest MapFact Island (1.22) with needed Addons, my computer crashes, everytime I pull the Trigger in Vit's Mi-24...

I had this occasionally before, but now ist anytime I pull the trigger...

This Problem was inttroduced with the Gunpods...?

Any Idea what Addon interferres with the Mi-24 Addon...?

I am really dont knew... wow_o.gif

somebody knew here???

It was not the Mapfact stuff, but I still don't know what it was...I had the same Problem with the F-16...

I will see what a reinstall brings...

Btw. The Mi-24 (1.21) hits 400 km/h in a shalllow dive and 380 kmh/h horizontal Flight, seems a bit overpowered to me...!

(in more hardcore helicopter simulations, the Rotor would be ripped apart above 380 -400 km/ depending on Model)

Seeing the Hind is ne of the faster combat choppers out having twin 2,200 hp engines, 2 OFP is not a hardcore flight simulator.

Watched the Marines give aUH60 Blackhawk need to change their underware they have a caputered Mi24D Hind up at Yuma. For a chopper of its size and height its suprizingly manueverable. Something that better armoered that a M2A2 and flies. at speeds of WWII fighter planes.

Independent of the (lack) of flight simming OFP can do.  Horsepower has nothing to do with how fast a helo can go.  H60s have almost that amount of power (about 2000 each) and can only do 180 to 190 KTS depending on the model.  It's just a physical limitation of the aircraft design.   Not sure what the Hind redline is off the top of my head, but 238 knots (380 km/h) might be a touch fast but probably not too far off with all the rotor blades it has.

However, such advanced flight models are not for us w/ good old OFP.   smile_o.gif

The Mi-24 has a top speed 335-350 km/h, the number differs a little depending on what source you use.

The prototype for the Mi-24 was clocked doing 368 km/h during a test flight.

This is of course in level flight, so in a dive it would probably not be impossible to reach around 400 km/h.

The top speed could be lowered a bit on the addon, but not much since this is in reallity a really fast helo...

The retreating blade stall effect limits the maximum speed of Helicopters, nor the engine Power...

A Helo going to fast will lose lift, the rotor blades will start to vibrate, und eventually brake apart

More of this here:

Beagle,

As your reference states, the onset of Retreating Blade Stall is usually manifested by a severe pitch-up (the advancing blade with all that lift reaches its highest point at the front) plus a roll towards the side that's losing lift. You'd have to be going some to get the kind of catastrophic break-up you're worried about; not impossible, but not likely.

With the Hind - all this chat about max speed, but no-one's yet simulated her biggest weakness in pure flight terms: low speed. In the Indian Air Force - a very competent organisation which has operational experience with helicopters at over 21,000 feet altitude - only qualified air-test pilots (maintenance specialists, if you like... very experienced individuals) are allowed to hover the Hind. My own experience of flying alongside (by the Inner German Border pre-1989) was that she was fine until we brought our (Wessex) speed back below 20 kts. After that we'd come to the hover as we watched the Hind stagger away - those stub-wings become a hindrance at low airspeeds too. Our token S African out here, who flew them in Angola and Sierra Leone, says he's never hovered one. They need a 400-meter strip for take-offs and landings. So modellers - how about scripting it so that your Hind starts to fall out of the sky once the speed is below about 30kph, eh?

That's interesting stuff. Hadn't heard about that regime problem before. The problem w/ having to land a Hind at a strip is that OFP just doesn't support running landings (or takeoffs), so when you bring it in, you ball it up. Yet another thing I hope they can add in OFP2.

Sometimes you can get away w/ sliding a little, but too much and it's all over.

actually the is heli taxi and landimg scritps introduced in the Ah64 pack. DKM Havok could make a runway landing when if you very very careful but the last update broke it. Nearly cried but you could take off rolling.

I think I understood that.

Well, either way, perhaps more realism than is worth the trouble.

Very nice update, thanks for adding the new versions, especially the one with At-6 smile_o.gif

The only problem I noticed so far is with Mi-35M, the 'guns' on the front both spin on the same axis rather than individually. It would require some work but I could live with it. Overall I am pretty pleased with this update, thanks again VIT.

I have a question for Vit or anyone, little off topic but dealing with Vit addons.

I have a issue with the Mig 25 ver 1.2 on a dedicated server.

Seems to memory crash the client, works fine in editor or running a server in game.

Anyone else run into this? or is there a fix on the horizon?

Also is the Mig 29 ver 1.6 dependent on the Mig 25?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
