Unfortunately i can't release AVC II

in 2008, but i try to finish it in 2009.

But, again, just his movie. It says nothing there about the mod "Galaxy at War". There is a board, might want to check it: http://gawmod.proboards.com/index.cgi

For me, its dead.

Actually, it says nothing there about the "Galaxy at War" Mod. They only mention the movie again, and their "Pyandonea"-Mod for "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion".

EDIT: Registered to the "Galaxy at War" board. There it states the usual stuff. College, bla, work, bla, have also a real live blabla, private problems blabla.

That what I like about the "Warhammer 40K"-Mod so much. They release screenshots of upcomig addons only if they are 95% done. So on the one hand you get no progress update for weeks, however if you see a complete-looking screenshot of a vehicle, you know you will be able to play it in the next days. Thats the problem of most of the mods, the released pictures as early as 2003, but the shit wasnt done at all and only looked good on the screenshots.

There is a Star Wars + Flashpoint curse. In retrospect, we failed miserably at a solid Star Wars mod release because nobody wanted to do the work that needed to be done. Star Wars is a very big, complicated universe, so creating an unthinkable amount of art assets is very tedious work - not to mention you aren't getting paid for it.

I tried to chop the mod up into pieces to remedy that problem, where we'd focus on only specific memorable moments from the films, like the Geonosis battle, and then move onto the next, like the Hoth Battle, Endor, etc. Even this idea didn't work because that one little battle had so much going on inside of it and required an indescribable amount of work. Work we did not have the time or effort for.

Most of the addons we showed were functioning fairly well. With that said, I hate that we hyped this thing up so much with the many screenshots and videos we had, without anybody being behind the trigger for themselves. I worked with some very talented individuals who like me, REFUSED to release anything until we were 100% satisfied with what we created. Perfectionism bit a chunk of our asses out, we are sorry we couldn't finish this mod.

FDF, WH40k, BAS and the rest over the years have all had this elite team of extremely talented and fully capable people. We never had that. We could never find the people who had the same skills and motivation equal to other members in other mods with the exception of Acacyn. If we had 10, or even 3 more Acacyns, Star Wars might have seen the light of day.

We had, I would say, 2 serious addon makers and a bunch of guys who joined just for the sake of being on the roster and did nothing. It is not entirely fair to compare with other mods. We did what we could with what we had. In this situation, money would = motivation and plenty of team members who could do the dirty work.

I have tried a Star Wars mod for years now, since 2002 when I was in high school. In 3 different teams. If my PC could run ArmA 2 you bet your ass I'd still be trying.

Well, it's not the number of people in a mod that makes a success or regular releases. Most of the mods released are mainly made by one or two persons apart from the few "big machines" of past glorious OFP days such as Bas, FdF or LibMod- , as you can never count on anybody in such a non commercial activity. For example, Goth Burner released a full space mod with maps, ships and units, Sennacherib is working on another one, Pertlach is working alone on his WW2 czech mod for ArmA, Sanctuary works alone, Fab seems to be alone two on WWIIEC (which takes ages that's true !), i released two full mods with some help but on my own etc.

It's mainly a matter of patience, involvement and dedication, as much as the fan base is narrow. And too ambitious projets never succeed, it's better to release smaller projects, a few units etc. Maybe you should reconsider releasing only "100% perfect things", but hey, you're free to do whatever you want with your work.

Yes unless you have a strong team that has everyone working, and not half of the members just doing nothing, releasing only when you reach 100% completion is definitively not a good idea as with few workers , or being alone, it will take so much time to reach that status that chances are that the work will end into never being finished and released.

It is always better if you are alone or in very small cooperation to release betas, then expand from it.

Not only this way you deliver at least something to toy around for the community, but additionally you get then a way bigger beta testing group, helping you indirectly or directly to locate more easily the bugs that alone you may never have been able to see.

And another bonus of releasing betas is that it can always attract some other people that could either help you directly on your work or contribute themselves with missions or addons for your work.

i think its all about motivation. when people don't respond to mods that are released, the creators don't know how well they did, how happy they made people, it seems all in vain. more apprecation helps the motivation too.

Very good point BronzeEagle, usually feedback (real feedback, not begging) is really helping a modder/mission maker to find motivation in continuing work.

It is certainly true not to aim too high and be too ambitious. That never works. It's a lesson I learned for sure.

i know one thing, so long as i can use my code blue units with this ww4 mod which i can, then im happy. we must partner together to see that our products help each other shine. we must bond together strong in these days of ofp. may it live forever. may the brotherhood last strong.

Why dont you just release the addons, the vehicles for us to play with?

I joined the WH40K-Mod one year ago. (Well I started to visit their boards and downloaded the mod that is). Since then I spent countless hours with it, and, finally, also released five addons myself.

In all this time, I hardly ever have played their missions. Not that they are not good, in fact their are cinematicaly well done, but OFP was always just a sandbox game for me. I creaste quick missions for myself, fool around with my friends in multiplayer etc.

I think there are many out there who would be 100% grateful for the addons. I got so much positiv feedback for my clumsy first addon, why let the files rot on the harddrive?

I'm working on the mod, because it's one of my hobbies, and I'm working on it when I feel so. And "when I feel so" I do great job with the mod, otherwise I would release some rubbish or bullnuts, just to please your impatience.

Unfortunately I do not have any files. We were working on this about 5 years ago. I had thought we had some downloads available when ofp.info was hosting our site. It appears that when they changed some things around, our website was lost.
