Looks good, sounds good. So are you going to use the camera method to use keyboard commands to control the thrust nozzles, like we did on the USCM dropship? Or, if you somehow have a diffferent method please share it.

I hadnt seen the dropship!? Id there a downlaod somewhere?

As for the keyboard, yes it'll be a derivative of the camera method. The STOVL system we're using isnt really anything new. Its just a slightly different application of an old script. UNN is going to re-write my crappy scripts into custom scripts specifically for the Harrier functions, mapping the keys etc.

Can I expand on my AI question.

Will you be able to order AI in another Harrier within your squad to hover (goto, watch direction, etc) and VTOL?

Kyle whats happening it would be a darned shame if you didnt release it.

At this precise moment the answer is no.  But we'll do our best to add as much AI compatibility as we can.

back on topic. Will you harrier have dynamic arming?? or will it be various selectable loadouts??

I already explained why "Dynamic Arming" is a bad idea in this thread This Thread.  The model uses te Puseudo proxy method for it weapons, so would require the and extra (approx) 14000 polys to support just the possible weapons configs, plus the model.  I dont see the point of creating a model that will lag when I can make something practical.

The current planned loadouts are:

GR7/7A Loadouts

4x BL.755, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon.

5x 1000lb GP Bombs, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon.

4x AGM-65 Maverick, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon, 1x Recon Pod.

4x 1000lb Paveway II, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 1x 30 MM cannon, 1x TIALD Pod.

2x AGM-65 Maverick, 3 x BL.755, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon

2x AGM-65 Maverick, 2 x CRV-7 Rocket Pods, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon, 1x1000lb GP Bomb

2x BL.755, 2x 1000lb Paveway II, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 1x 30 MM cannon, 1x TIALD Pod.

2x AGM-65 Maverick, 2 x 2000lb Paveway III, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 1x TIALD Pod.

2x 1000lb Paveway II, 2 x 2000lb Paveway III, 2x Aim-9, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 1x TIALD Pod.

GR9 Loadouts:

12x Brimstone, 2x ASRAAM, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon

6x Brimstone, 2x CRV-7 Rocket Pods, 2x ASRAAM, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon

2x AGM-65 Maverick, 2 x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x ASRAAM, 2x Storm Shadow, 2x 30 MM cannon

6x Brimstone, 2x AGM-65 Maverick, 2x ASRAAM, 2x 250 Gallon Tanks, 2x 30 MM cannon

Note #1:  Some internet sites state that the 30mm cannon pods aren’t in use.  While it was true they were withdrawn, some were taken out of storage and refitted to some aircraft when the ADEN 25 failed to work as designed.  Other aircraft retain the cowlings for aerodynamic lift or are fitted with strakes.  In favour of game play I’ve chosen to add guns to some load outs that might not actually have them in real life.

Note #2 All loadouts are based on official RAF approved loudouts used during Operation Telic and the current day.  The information was provided by a serving Harrier Pilot and QWI (Qualified Weapons Instructor) based at RAF Cottesmore.

Note #3 The GR9 is just entering service with the UK Joint Harrier Force and is an improvement over the GR7 in both its engine and avionics, raising its capability and performance over any other Harrier model currently in service.  Support for AIM-132 ASRAAM has been added as well as the capability to carry the Storm Shadow standoff missile.  Improved avionics bring the Harrier upto date with the latest NATO aircraft standards fully supporting JTIDS and ASTOR information feeds.

Awesome work on the VTOL.

Altough you said USMC version isn't making into this release, could I ask you if you could add support to remove the RAF markings from it so we could fake the USMC version until the proper version is done. I think that could be easily done via hiddenselections.

Keep it up! thumbs-up.gif

Sorry, no.

I've already said no 10+ times already and explained why. What people dont seem to realise is how much work is involved in making a USMC version.  The models are different which affects the selctions and scripting. All the loadouts are totally different.  The RAF paint shemes have no similarity to the US version so dont lend themselves to a quick conversion.  I really dont want to sound funny about it or be called anti american (read back a few pages)  again.  But i wont be making a USMC version in the initial releases.

I dont get much time for addon making at the moment, so to support a USMC version will set the release back 1-2 months. Its not somethig that i'm able or willing to do at the moment.

@ROCKofSL, will you be having some .PSD files included in the release so we could do our own cammo's? (havnt seen it mentioned, let alone havnt got the time to check wink_o.gif )

Rock, they were asking in the post above if you could make the RAF logos on the harrier a section, so they could be hidden. Not to make another version.

I understood perfectly and the answer is no.

I've already answered this several times previously. Please read the thread.

Again, no.  I'm happy to support other teams but i wont release public "skin packs" and have people distributing their own version of RKSL addons without consent.

Well, after all the US addons we've had, you'd think that we'd be allowed just ONE aircraft...

Rockape has said that he's not got the interest or time in doing it at the moment, and while it's fine to want an addon, you can't FORCE an addon maker to release the one you just happen to want.

Besides, it's not like flying about in a USMC one is somehow different from flying in a british one, after using the BIS Chinook as an RAF one for so long, trust me, it's no different reversed.

Looking good. Did you get my PM about overcoming the need for triggers with the Vtol scripts? There should be enough key mappings possible in that to allow for nozzle shifting anims by holding the key for a certain time, and all sorts of stuff. I released the vtol stuff a long time ago hoping a harrier project would be able to use it. I hope this one comes to fruition. smile_o.gif

While I do hope that VTOL is hardcoded in Arma, it'll be nice to have a proper Harrier out for OFP. Let me know if you need any more help on the vtol stuff.

Yes, mate i did thanks alot. smile_o.gif I just didnt get time to reply to you.

UNN is working through it to see if we can make it more compatible with our current system (it uses other scripts for vectored thrusts) once we've got some progress i'll post an update.

We're both working to release this version for OFP so hopefully we wont dissapoint anyone.

Thanks for you help!

Hey Rock ain't it wierd how whenever something gets released somebody, usually everybody, says "Great but why don't you add this, or make such and such version." Fk them.

I agree with you just working on the RAF version of the harrier and think the US side have enough stuff already.

One thing I must ask after seeing the vid. How are you going to treat fuel consumption during the hover?
