Well then why dont you try helping instead of being a asshole.

Did some 18 year old punk just tell someone actually in the War to "stop being an asshole"? crazy_o.gif

I thought you wanted to honor those fighting and those lost? rock.gif

LP4Life, what is your opinion about war (in general) , what happens to those who die, and those who live? how do you see your "average day at work" in the army?

If all the troops leave Iraq now then those deaths would of been for nothing at all.

I am in school, I've got an opinion about war.

So let's hear yours! biggrin_o.gifwink_o.gif

Allright imagine:

You have been sitting at the base for three days, your officer has been sick for two days. and the only ones who get to stretch their legs is your friend in his squad.

He went on patrol three hours ago, and should be coming back ten minutes ago, but since the soldiers around here nearly allways get chatting up with people from a checkpoint they are likely to talk for ages and come back allot later. and exept for their stories there isn't much to do. You heard some people having a riot in the direction of the gate some minutes ago. You decide to borrow a gameboy from a friend to kill the time, and as you search for him you stumble across somebody who is in thesame squad's as your friend, and two more! so they got back! You hurry the fuck up and fetch the Gameboy, five minutes you are back at your backpack, but what in the hell? the backpack of your friend is gone?

You look for him everywere, and in desperation ask one of the people at the gate how many people got back from patrol, they reply with "eight and a half". and point over to a closed bag lying next to the tent, beside it lies your friend's backpack.

Hopfully placebo will come in and delete most of these degrading posts and lay down the law for these people who cant seem to spare one thread from flaming.

"Freedom of Speech" and "No Censorship" are basic rights many soldiers fought and died for...

How did this all begin?

Quote[/b] ]Never forget the names of the men and women who gave they're lives for freedom.

Real American Heros

Posting this in an international forum is very... hmm... bold?

Heroes? The term is a bit "overused". Imo a hero is someone who achieves something extraordinary, doing his job beyond his duty. One attribute of heroes is that there are only few.

Anyway, I feel sorry for these poor souls getting killed in action. They are dying for a freedom which was lost before going to war. Remember, civil rights are cut back for the cause "war on terrorism". Terrorism seeks reduction of civil rights and personal freedom by spreading fear. Ergo: War on terror is already lost.

Therefore they are "traurige Helden", sad heroes. Not to mention those thousands of other people who die in this war without even being a soldier. At least a soldier knows he's risking his life.

Forcing the thread guests to remember "real American heroes" but only answering a "find some lists" to people who ask for "real [insertfavouritecountry] heroes" is... yeah... tasteless? Ignorant? Blind patriotism? Nationalism? Dunno...

(Since decades one (German) learns that nationalism and militarism is very bad. And then the nation which is teaching democracy behaves contrary to the book. That's all very, very confusing)

Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day (yes, I wore something green --my good ol' army shirt biggrin_o.gif). Perhaps they had too many pints of Guinness?
