I see you didn't make my great idea (Got VBS1?) tounge_o.gif.  

Is the bridge fight - Tonal mission the same one you released a few months back, or is it new/updated?

It was never released, just beta tested.

@BatDog, those weapons are from one of the weapons pack. I'm not sure which, some of the addons require other addons or weapons in order to work. Which mission is giving you trouble? i may be able to find the answer for you.

I had that problem too, in that there afghanistan mission.

I just dePBO'd it and removed the addons from the "required addons" list, and it worked perfectly.

Maybe something you forgot to remove?

It's not something that was forgotten, it is defiently needed. I think it's the weapons JJR Rebels are using.

If you remove that from the mission.sqm and then save it and export it you will find they are back in the file again.

EDIT: i can take a look at it again tonight when i get home, i know i had removed that before but it showed back up again when i exported it.

About the WW2 mission Bridge Fight :

I too had a problem with the pilots, and when I downloaded the pilot pack, I couldn't load the intro because of a missing addon : ECA_alliedp sad_o.gif

Anyway, I had great fun to play the mission, especially with the voices which added atmosphere. I'll confess I overused artillery, but I love splashing the enemy from afar tounge_o.gif

The mission didn't end though, I crossed the bridge and secured the area (or so it seems), is it because a loon remains ?

I am really starting to hate the phrase "Addon Dependencies"

I dont know why anyone is having a problem, the only addon used that i forgot to list was the pilots that are required by the Mustangs.

Everything else is in that list, i didnt change any of the units that would create a leftover addon.

This really sucks and i am giving serious thought to just stopping here and forgetting about the rest.

Some of the addons like the JJR Rebels have more than one version floating around. I think there are a couple of versions of the AIA Mustangs around too (the latest pack and an older pack with more skins) - I've had "missing addon" problems with these puppys in the past.

I'm sure the problems will get ironed out after more people have played and posted here, and there will be 5 more top-notch missions in the OFP portfolio biggrin_o.gif

There are tons of good addons, but only few missions to play with.

And I think you are the one of great missionmaker as far as I know.

This isn't flattery but only tell you the truth.

Don't stop the release, please. WE NEED YOU.

Weapon problem solved, the addons are in the orginal JJR middle east rebels. All rpoblems solved, lets feast go on but not for 10 minutes becuas I'm having dinner now smile_o.gif

Hi Winters. First of all a great big thanks to you for making missions for OFP! Greatly appreciated.

I have tested and problem-shot two of the missions. Here are the things I noted

Convoy Security

It has lots of old cruft left in the addOns and addonsAuto parts of the mission.sqm. Here's how to clear it out and do it properly:

1 - get the latest version of the updated JJR Generic ME Rebels (1.1). There were references to weapons used by that <span style='color:red'>utterly broken</span> first release in the mission before.

2 - open the mission.sqm in a text editor and clear the list of addons in addOns and addonsAuto. Make them read

and save it. Now hop back into OFP and load the mission editor.

3 - reload the mission in the (SP,not MP) editor, preview it once and save it again. Open the mission.sqm again and make sure it looks like this:

As you can see, there's no need for the marine assault pack at all. If you see any other names in there, you have one or more broken addons loaded. If you have any names missing, then that also indicates broken addons somewhere. Isn't life swell? crazy_o.gif

Now, mission gameplay logic...in playing the coop/A&D version I noticed a way to win the mission quickly playing as west: borrow one of the empty A10:s on the airfield, fly north to Camp Liberty and eject just above the camp. When you land - bling - mission complete. I noticed this when having one of my AI:s fly CAS above Quandahar and he was shot down. I had him drag himself into C. Liberty for medical attention and suddenly the mission ended while I was busy in the city. Oops!

Village Patrol

This one suffers from the same "dirty" mission.sqm. Do the clear it out-preview-save bit here too.

Furthermore, the mission is still titled "convoy security" and has traces of things from that mission still in it (parked A10:s at the airport for example)

Also, this mission doesn't require the MAP either...

The A-10's should be locked, that was an oversight on my part as is the title in the Village Patrol. If you notice in Village Patrol they are indeed locked but one question, why did you go to the airfield when you start out at the village your squad is patrolling?

As for the addons, i cleared them out already when the first update to the generic rebels was made and re-saved the mission. Any addons listed were required at the time of release ditto for village patrol as i was making them at the same time, if this has changed with the very latest generic ME rebels i will look into it. But aside from that, what you see is what you need.

Many of the addons need other addons in order to work. Thats why the lists are different. Again, if the latest rebels no longer require the Marine assault pack, this is news to me and should have been addressed in that addons readme.

EDIT: It did list the only required addon now is JAM.

The last update still required them. This is what i hate about a lot of addons and why many addons never get used but thanks for the heads up.

EDIT: tonight i will look into this and fix it if need be, meaning there wont be a new mission release tonight.

EDIT2: The 2 most foul words in the english lanquage: "Addon Dependancies"

EDIT3: i took another look at the updated pack and i see the only required addon for this is JAM. So i will fix that tonight. But, your still going to need the marine pack for an upcomming mission that uses them anyway.

It looks like the problems you had are due to the latest pack getting rid of stuff it needed before.

I didn't. I assumed, however, that the mission.sqm was fscked in the usual regard and decided to clean it up in the way I described above. At that point I noticed it.

Yeah. Only the original release needed that. The updated ones by MunkD & Co (ver 1.0 and now 1.1) use JAM only, thankfully.

Required what? Anywho, here's a rundown of the history:<ul>[*] First release, see J Rambo's Mid-East fighters. Requires "ak47n", "Ak74nsu" and the MAP. Utterly broken and should be forgotten.

[*] Updated Afganistan Rebels Version 1.0 of MunkD/Where'sMyRabbit's variant. Much improved but config still broken (dependencies). Uses/needs JAM2 only

[*] <span style='color:blue'>Generic Middle East Rebels v1.1</span> The latest one at this writing and the first one with a correct config. JAM2 only.Everyone should use this one (or later versions when available

Yeah. 90% of all addons are f***ed, in so many words. The level of incompetence in declaring addon dependencies properly is quite staggering. But they don't need that to get accolades or to pose the addons for CP photo thread wh***ing, so that could be why..

There's no "if" about it. The missions need to be cleaned up using properly configured addons. If you remove any traces of the older ones from your mod folder and use the 1.1 version of JJR_Rebels, things should improve immediately.

My main problem is with sloppy addon makers and what can only be fanboi beta testing making the job for the poor mission makers so hard...

I tried removing the marine pack from the one before this last one update and it put them back in the mission.sqm. Oh well, no biggie as i said there prolly wont be a new release tonight (but there is a chance there still could be) as i need to fix this and also in the convoy security OPFOR briefing it doesnt show because the ME Rebels are Resistance and not East.

The airfield in Village Patrol will now be cleared out, it was my intention to have you start there and drive to the village but thats kinda pointless so i started you outside the village instead.

Once i lock the A-10's you wont get an abrupt ending in Convoy Security anymore either but i still want to point out that this mission is meant to be played as a co-op mission with an additional 5 man playable OPFOR, its way too freaking hard getting through that town in SP.

ok I reinstalled OFP and am about to play these mission. any comments on these missions so far? what would you guys recommend to start with?

EDIT: OK, I tried "convoy security".

It has one of those military-style briefings, so I am a bit puzzled as to what to do in actual gameplay. I get disembarked when I encounter some resistance in a village which I can clear easily, but afterwards the convoy doesn't halt to take me with them again, so I am run over by one of those combat vehicles ... what should I do instead?

@Winters, even though I did not try your latest missions YET, I wana congratulate you for making new missions available for the OFP community and moreover to have made those missions both playable as single and MULTI palyer COOP. Again MP COOP missions are probably the most atractive part of OFP ! wink_o.gif

Edit : Nice Bridge mission. It seems that I cleared the bridge, but no ending .... enjoyed it anyway ! smile_o.gif
