Damage Inc 0 Posted January 13, 2002 Command is fine.
DnA 5133 Posted January 13, 2002 I'd love a hierarchal (urr...spelling?) command system where you can have people in your squad who command a squad themselves. We already have this in Conquest using scripts, but I would prefer it to be in-engine.
theavonlady 2 Posted January 13, 2002 CLEAN UP THIS MESS
GFX707 0 Posted January 13, 2002 Yeah, something like members of squad commanded by squad leader commanded by platoon leader/team leader commanded by colonel/side leader So if you are the leader of the entire side, it shows at the bottom of your screen all the squad leaders like they are in your group, and you can command them, then they command their squad to carry out your order, so in the end you can have control over 400 men or so. This would be the number one thing I would like to see in OFP2 (number 2 being some decent defensive buildings /bunkers/fortifications and number 3 being artillery) so BIS, pay attention, hahahaha
Thehamster 0 Posted January 13, 2002 I like one that would say "God nooo we can't stay here will all be killed, every man/women for them self" Basically a just general retreat order.
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 13, 2002 How about a DROP command?
Damage Inc 0 Posted January 13, 2002 I'd also like a "don't report enemy units" command.
Placebo 29 Posted January 13, 2002 Well I'd like "all heal at medic" and "all rearm" commands as discussed in a previous thread
ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 13, 2002 How about 'Go Rambo' command? when the command is issued, every AI starts to think it is Rambo, and act like one.(Of course, results may vary) On serious note, how about some detailed instruction regarding building? Like 'go to 2nd floor'? they already have climb ladder to climb to attic, but it's hard for me to place AI on second floor and hold it there..
Antichrist 0 Posted January 13, 2002 I want to command bigger squads of up to 100 or so or make a battle plan and look at the battle from some safe undeground bunker
suchey 0 Posted January 13, 2002 I agree...a command to make the AI shut up would be great! blah blah blah blah...they never shut up.
John C Flett 0 Posted January 14, 2002 A 'return fire if engaged' command would be useful for occasions when you get caught by a patrol or an ambush.
PanzerGrenadier 0 Posted January 14, 2002 There should be a command that u can select troops to follow and guard an area/unit. Also to be able to select a few men to patrol a perimiter. There should also be a command to make troops assualt a position rather then merley say move here, in which case they keep running into the enemy fire.. Also what placebo said about being able to send more then 1 unit at a time to ream/heal would certainly be less time consuming.
Diniter 0 Posted January 14, 2002 How about change rate of fire.

Satchel 0 Posted January 14, 2002 I´d like to have more control on the fire behaviour of my group so Presets for the ammo usage and fire mode (trigger group switch semi/burst/auto) on area or point targets, a.e. "Group Red- left - 250, enemy group advancing on our position, 10 rounds Semi Auto, commence firing" Sometimes it would come in handy, especially if you have an machine gunner in your group, if you could order suppression fire, to distract or slow down enemy soldiers. Suppression fire mode order Don´t know how often i wrote this, but where is the fully autonomous, correctly executed bounding overwatch command in a military game like this, with wide open spaces like there are? A.e. i assign a half group (team) out of the 12 soldiers i have, like 6 soldiers. I want them to reach a particular destination with best possible safety, so 3 men of the team i send have to cover while the other 3 are moving, then change roles after the moving team reaches it´s first cover or waypoint after 50m or so. A proper " Evasion and survival" would also come in handy, where AI soldiers are moving away from the enemy putting as much objects as possible between them and enemy gunsights. This combined with bounding overwatch would make for a nice fighting "retreat" to break contact. Why can´t i order my men to walk with a simple "walk command" with readied weapons, so they don´t rush headlong into anything bad for their health? A "lower limit for munition order" would also be great, so that you as groupleader know that your group doesn´t run out of ammo before mission objectives can be met. Once this limit is reached a soldier should stop firing and await further orders. A.e. "Group A, lower limit- 20 rounds AR´s, 100 MG" A group member should give feedback once this lower limit is reached, a.e. "Number 3, lower limit reached, conserving ammo- awaiting further orders" How about an " set engagement distance" command, so that soldiers don´t start shooting like a bunch of idiots on the next best target that is hundreds of metres away and won´t be hit anyway? It would make ambushes so much more effective and easier. Of course you can do that with "Cease fire/ attack" commands, but it takes too much time, requires you to issue the order again and again, squandering your time in the command menu instead of concentrating on whats going on. Also soldiers will start firing away on targets that are much further away, maybe already on the next enemy group, which is not desirable in terms of ammo conservation and accuracy. Better implement it as an autonom command like suggested above, it´s easier, more effective and you as group leader can concentrate on other, more important things. dayglow 2 Posted January 15, 2002 Area attack would be great, but the AI code would have to be re-written for suppressive fire to work. AI would ignore it unless they come under fire directly, they don't keep their head down when bullets are dropping around them. I do a manual bounding overwatch whenever I'm moving with my squad. I divide my squad into 2 and assign the other team as red, then have red go ahead for a bit then setup with either a scan horizon command or I tell them to watch a particular direction if I believe that's where the enemy is, Then I move ahead with my squad. Works great a few times my ass has been saved with red engaging the enemy that I didn't see. Also with my squad divided I can order red to outflank any contact that I have and the crossfire is always leathal. Voice communication with gamecommander software really helps with this, so I'm not touching the keyboard constantly. COLINMAN
Frizbee 0 Posted January 15, 2002 I would Love the option to have a squad leave a unit temporarily.. Ie. 2, take 3, 4, 5 and patrol the road ahead...

shadow 6 Posted June 12, 2002 I like the idea about "Don't fire unless fired upon". ooh and the ability to have more than one unit talking at the same time.
Guest Titanium Posted June 13, 2002 Ahh, I wish a new command can be... AI DON'T ACT SO ******* STUPIDLY YOU PIECES OF ****. just my two cents. I don't mean to be mean, Ai is pretty good, but there are some things that... well ya know.
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted June 13, 2002 I'd like a "Keep up with my pace you lazy buggers!" command. When fleeing (sorry, tactically falling back) or storming, the AI moves too slow and careful. I'd like a combat mode where they will just run like hell if the player does. Sometimes it ends up being the player running to safety and the rest of the squad gets killed by a T80 because they're too damn slow to get out of there. So basically - a PANIC! combat mode
