I can't believe I have not heard about this game, until last week. After discovering how big of a following it has, plus the great reviews, I had to have it.

I ordered it off of e-bay, should be here by the end of the week ( I hope).

I have downloaded the demo from Gamespot. I like what I see so far. I prefer a game with a one bullet will kill you, style of gameplay.

I was at EB yesterday and picked up a mint copy of Resistance for $1.99 Cnd. Huge deal. I was willing to pay up to $30 on Ebay. This game is not very easy to find here in Canada.

I bought the Gold edition, later only to realize that TGOTY would have been a better buy. O well.

My question is, does Resistance improve the graphics much to the original game? The demo seems a bit dated. But good graphics does not make a game great. I have a feeling I will enjoy this one regardless.

But if someone could tell me what improvements Resistance makes to the Original game, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The demo is dated, yes, with the "unit conversions" you can have far supperior units ingame. I suggest you go check out the combat photography thread, you'll be amazed .

The graphics are much better in Resistance. The textures have a higher resolution and the new island with the buildings/vegetation is outstanding compaired to cold war crisis. The best thing though is all the addons and mods made for the latest version of the game. Resistance is pretty much the same as CWC but it has some new features like handguns and motorcycles. It also allows addon makers/scripters to do more advanced things.

With resistance and the great addons/mods you could call it a new game compaired to CWC.

OFP was released tree and a half years ago in summer 2001.

One more thing to the noob

OFP is not what it once was when it comes to online play. You cant expect to find a server and start playing in 5 minutes. It's more like football practise to me. Find some people to play with and the gameplay will be beyond anything you find on a public server with lots of strangers.

I would say the graphics in Resistance are a notch above what you've seen in Cold War Crisis.

What you will find even more exciting are the great many quality add-ons, made by fans such as yourself. They add immensely to the quality of the game play. With better modelling and sounds, even functionality, these add-ons just make it more immersive.

Ballistic Addon Studios: Delta Force and Rangers; helocopters; Tonal island.

OFP also has practically every army represented in mods, and we have Vietnam, Korea, WW2, WW1, Civil War, Gulf War, and many fictional conflict mods. So whatever fancies your taste I am sure we have it.

Wow. Thanks for all the replies. I am still waiting on my Gold edition. I bought the Resistance add-on for $1.99 Canadian, really happy with that deal. But it is no good to me untill I get The original. I've played the 2 demos, and liked what I saw. I can't wait to get right to it.

This game really seemed to go under the radar here in Canada. I enjoy Rainbow6, and the Hidden and Dangerous series. OFP was recomended at the H&D forum. This is how I came to hear about this one. Obviously it is very huge, maybe more so in Europe. But just from this site, I can see it has a huge fan base It is my type of game. MOH, COD etc. get lame real quick for me.

Animals is my fave Floyd album. It seems to get overlooked, even thought it is brilliant.

Its a shame the boys in the band are still pissed at each other. I've seen Floyd twice, but its not the same without Waters. Also saw Waters once, but again, he needs the other guys.
