hardrock 1 Posted December 8, 2004 This was posted on another forum. I've been using it for a few days now and have noticed a definite performance boost. No adverse effects either. 1. Type "about:config" in the address field. 2. Set the value of network.http.pipelining to "true". 3. Set the value of network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "100". 4. Set the value of network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true" 5. Set the value of nglayout.initialpaint.delay to "0" If the variable isn't there, you'll have to create it yourself. To my knowlege, only "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" isn't in Mozilla by default. (for those of you that have to create it, keep in mind that it uses an integer value so you'll have to use the integer option.) To add a variable, all you have to do is right-click (anywhere in the variable listing) and select new. Pick the type of variable, and then give it a name and value. All changes take place immediately.

Placebo 29 Posted December 9, 2004 I love Firefox but I get one really annoying bug with it....... If I accidentally click "Go" or even move my mouse over it it freezes my PC, then when it comes back each time I click a link it freezes for 5-10 seconds, only fix is a reboot, not so bad at home but worse here as this PC is slower. It's been there from pre-release versions up to official 1.0 and nightly builds, don't know if it's something in the way I configure my PC or what, it's hard to google such a problem
MSpencer 0 Posted December 9, 2004 My firefox keeps cloning instances of itself... I can't run firefox again unless I go into task manager and hunt down the still running instances... it's really annoying.

billybob2002 0 Posted December 9, 2004 Can somebody explain Firefox and why it is so special? Also, can it "hide" your IP address....
hardrock 1 Posted December 9, 2004 The best way probably is to try it out, once you get used to it you'll love it. IMO faster than IE, better overview, possibility of tabs, nice page-search bar in the new 1.0 version, WAY more CSS features than IE (will give you nicer graphics on some pages) . . . I tell you, try it and don't say "Nah that's not good" just because something is not exactly the same as in IE, you'll love it by the time.
void_false 1 Posted December 9, 2004 Not to say it is completely free and open source. Quote[/b] ]can it "hide" your IP address You always can use proxy.
gandalf the white 0 Posted December 10, 2004 use proxy. will that fool any IP bans on your name? also, what do you need for it?
benu 1 Posted December 10, 2004 Can somebody explain Firefox and why it is so special? Also, can it "hide" your IP address.... No browser can hide your ip address. And if you even have to ask about this then the explanation would take too lon But you can always use anonymizer services. Those should work with every browser out there. Firefox is nice because it does not have all that gaping security holes that IE has and because of the many plugins that can be installed to add the functionality you want it to have. I will look up anonymizer service then. Anyway, the reason for IP address to be masked is that I'm on cable and I hate the perm. IP address that they give you....
