gunfighter-6 0 Posted November 5, 2004 Nice addon, very good idea... but i dont like the texture-transitions... it's a hard line... could you try to make it smoother?

philcommando 0 Posted November 5, 2004 Thanks pappy for the link  There are many uses for defensive outposts such as this hill, commonly used in jungle environment eg, korea, taiwan, vietnam, espacially in tropical countries where its not possible or feasible to construct concrete perimeters, among them are:- 1. Temp harbouring bases for a couple of days in the jungle. 2. A search and destroy action base camp. 3. An artillery firing base. 4. An outpost to protect routes and border Bugs:- 1. Due to limits of LODs this addon is divided into 4 sections which u would have to manually align to make it whole.( a sample mission with the aligned model is included in the download for u to copy and paste onto other islands. 2. In order to ensure the conformance of the LODs, the base of the hill have to be kept flat, thus it would require a flat real estate area of 120mX120m for the pathway lod to work. 3. Should the AI be made to enter the foxhole, there is no way to get him out again for there is no leap command in ofp to make AI jump out of 1m high foxhole. 4. You can only command your AI to move within the same section of the model, eg:- AI will move around at your command on section one of hill and will not venture into section two even if order to, unless u get AI off section 1 of hill and then enter section 2 hill. Do not be too disappointed with this poor quality model as it is meant only to be a prototype to give other better and skilled addon makers an idea to recreate the realistic battles fought in Asia - Saipan WWII, Chosan korean war, Khe San Vietnam, etc....wats jungle warfare without trenches? PS:- OFP is pretty realistic in terms of battles, eg:- infantry manuals teaches the odds are always 3 to 1 - every 3 of your guys against 1 enemy in battle - a platoon against an enemy squad, a company against an enemy platoon, a battalion against an enemy company in order to win. When the odds are against u, u better not deploy near unfavourable odds or get reinforcement thru air/arti support or get the hell out of there before u are wiped out unless u wanna be awarded medals posthumously... ( special forces have their own odds due to the nature of their tactics and weapons)
redface 1 Posted November 5, 2004 great!! thx philcommando I have always wanted this kind of micro-terrain in OFP. Thank you for paying attention to AI navigation as well, I'm sure this addon will be of much use to mission makers and inspiration to other addon makers. But very nice work, philcommando  Perhaps some Islandmakers could include it into their islands. Would be nice to have some really nice "Hillbases". gandalf the white 0 Posted November 5, 2004 say Phil! i was just thinking! what about auto-allign trenches? if you have played MFCTI you know what i'm talking about, just imagine trenchparts that would allign themselves in the beginning of the mission! philcommando 0 Posted November 6, 2004 Thanks for the links and posts. As the shared knowledge given out by other ofp enthusiasts increases, i do believe addons can only get better as each day passes. Cheers!
