snypa 0 Posted September 30, 2004 Yes, Maus II was ment to built. It was actually in building process when Soviet unit attaked to the area where it was built. Germans blowd it away right away and burned all desings, so we will never know what it was meant to look like. It has been said that it was meant to have two guns; one 88 mm and one 122 mm. And 2 MG's. Also, Maus did take on in a battle: there were two Mauses built and second one was still in building process, but the another destroyed 4 ISU-152 and one IS-2 when soviets attaced it. This battle took place in southern area of Berlin. The crew abandoned it when it got hit to track(s) and couldn't move any more.

hellfish6 7 Posted October 1, 2004 The P-series of tanks is, I think, almost identical to the E-series. There were supposed to be E-10s (to replace the PzIIL Lynx), through E-50 (to replace the Panther), through E-100 (to replace the Maus) and the E-1000 which was a land battleship (literally). Would have been interesting to see them in action...

Would have been interesting to see them in action... all heavy german tanks were underpowered (starting with Pzkpfw VI), so was the E-series (starting with E-50) the E-1000 series would have burned tons of fuels on a few miles, it has to be refueled every 20 miles and they were slow around 8 mph or less the only thing, they could be used for, is as a rolling bunker with battleship fire capability
hellfish6 7 Posted October 1, 2004 Very true, but that could have been useful in some places on the Eastern Front - Sevastopol, Stalingrad or Leningrad. Of course, I'd rather have had 100 Panthers or MkIVs than a single E-1000, but still... it could have been cool to see.
