bmgarcangel 0 Posted August 31, 2004 Hey Everyone, Long time no see, i'm never here anymore because my summer has been red hot with activity here and there with not alot of time for computers anymore but don't get down or sorry for me....i don't mind, being off the computer and not playing games is 4x funner then being on it and playing computer games and stuff. Â Anyways, what are your highlights this summer? Â I know mine.... This past week i've been away at one of the most demanding activities in my entire LIFE!!! Â It was called "Cascade Falcon IX ( nine )", the ninth Civil Air Patrol encampment for Civil Air Patrol Cadets in the Washington, Idaho, and Oregon areas. Â Its hosted in the Northern part of Ft. Lewis Army Base just south of Tacoma in Washington State. Â Now first before i go any further, Civil Air Patrol is the Air Force's Auxilary, kind of like Army ROTC. Â It provides a excellent Cadet Program, Aerospace Education, Emergency Services, and benifits many people who come and join. Â So anyways, on Saturday 21st of this month i left to go to Ft. Lewis. Â Took a van down there and arrived around 2:00pm. Â From there i checked in and i went to the barracks they told me to go to, Squadron 3, Echo Flight. Â So i got to the barracks, talked to the 1st Sargeant, got yelled at once or twice and then checked in with the Captian and went to my barracks. Â The rest of that day and the next got me oriented to the life routine i would become familar with for the next week until i left on the 28th. Â Not going to tell you every single detail but i'll give the highlights of the days....wake up at 5am, do pt till 6am outside in the cold weather, come back to barracks, make racks, get our Battle Dress uniform on, boots on, go outside for formation and raising of the flag, then we'd go to breakfast where we had 10 minutes to eat alot of good food, then we'd have classes or some activities, then lunch, then activites, marching practice, and some more classes, then we eat dinner, do some pt and then marching practice. Â Then around 8pm personel time would start where we had time to do whatever we want including taking showers, talking on our cell phones, ironing uniforms, and polishing our boots and dress uniform shoes. Â Then at 9pm it was lights out and then taps would sound in the distance and we'd go to sleep. Some of the activities that highlighted my time here was going to Mcord Air force Base for a day, having the army demonstrate a mock battle with Opposing Force Units and then afterwards being allowed to fire M60's, M249's, M16's, M9 berreta's, and being allowed to hold but not fire a Chinese made Ak-47's.....we did a few other activities but they weren't as exciting as these were unless you like riding in the back of a C-17 around puget sound! That was kick ass, those planes are hugh mother F******!!!!! Â Soon i'm going to get my film developed and once i do, i'll post them somewhere perhaps here..... So anyways, enough about me...what in the hell did you guys do that was worth while other then shooting "fake" 3d m16's that don't even look like the real thing! One thing that i realized about guns now, the m16a2 is light even when loaded, m60 machine gun is the loudest gun i've ever heard in my life and has a kick back like a sludge hammer, m249 is awesome and light, and the m16a2 is harder then i thought just to load. ~Bmg

da12thMonkey 1943 Posted September 3, 2004 The weather's been pretty damn abysmal this summer in the UK so I haven't really had any of the lazy days at the beach of yesteryear, so instead I've been fishing on the few sunny days I had to enjoy during the 2 weeks I had off work. Other than that I've just spent time with friends and family, celebrated quite a lot of birthdays (so I've been eating some good food and drinking good too), gone down the pub etc. I've managed to get an ear infection this week (the first back at work ) so I get a little more time off and the weather has been nice all this week (bloody typical: now my proper holiday's over) so I have something to enjoy despite the fact that I feel like I've been shot in the head, and I can heal up in my hammock in the back garden while drinking a few lagers.
