9mm 0 Posted July 7, 2005 It's not about lag. Not at all. I appreciate the hard work of all parties involved in this project. I'm sure that this pack wil have plenty of fans who will enjoy it. It deserves it. But I'm not going to be one of them. Not becouse of any technical reasons, but only becouse it doesn't fit my personal idea of OFP. over and out. Same goes for the many Humvee, Bradley, M1's, etc... Suggestions: -AW sniper rifles -FN-FAL -G3 series -Full G36 series including LSW version -Proper SA80 rifles. Imho the G36 has also been made enough, the FNFal could be improved (that's LLW's job methinks) , and also a new Steyr Aug wouln't go bad with unit replacement mods and/or DMA animations... I think peoples complaints about the lag is that if you have a tank that is 18000 polys, it's more acceptable than a weapon that is 18000 polys (Yes I know their not that high).. In RL, yeh, you can make howevermany base M4s, and make howevermany attachements for them, and they have many uses. But in OFP, you can get by with M4 w/scope easily enough. Not saying he shouldn't have done this, it's a nice pack and will hopefully stop people making more ("I'm going to amke M4 w/ blahblahblah","But Wipman made it" "oh, okay"), since the quality on them is.. excelent, and theres a lot of variations Anyway, question still stands : whats next? - Ben Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
wipman 1 Posted July 7, 2005 Hi, isn't my bussines if the ppl use or don't our M4's, they'r there; even the big mods or other addon makers could take this models, make a config using they'r values/scripts/whatever & use it for they'r units/mod/missions/whatever. But that will be more a fuck than a good thing; less compativilty = less good; less good = more bad, more bad = more shit .... & in that way until be banned. I'll like that if the big addon makers/mods/whaever gonna use our M4's... they should wait a bit until a final release it's out & use our M4's & not they'r own; for compativily matters. Forgeting the old missions/campaigns/whatever; we don't really need any more weapons; G36's, FN-2000, Famas, whatever; we need more missions. Forget the M4's & let's do more coops, more CTF's, more CTB, more CYS than more deltas, rangers, suposed seals; and let's do more M16A4 based coops; USMC. I hope that those who use all those SF's find this pack utile; and with luck... no more M4's until the ArmAs. Now let's back on topic... any other bug to report to us for fix it?. Im sorry to hear that many people are just coming in here to bitch about "another M4 pack", but I saw F*** EM. I see no point in them coming on here saying "Your work is pointless", or "This isnt me", or "It will lag my computer so Im not going to download." People, you dont like them, then dont download them, but you dont have to tell us what your going to do, because frankly, we dont care. Witman has created a fine piece of work, and I dont think it should be trampled on by people who couldnt do any better them selves. CRITISIM OF PACK: -You used theE&S iron sights/scopes. Im a bit tired of their stuff, and was hopping for something new. You might want to consider making new and improved sights, just to add some flare to your weapons as opposed to brining in some older stuff. -The SD Sound is WAY off. E&S use NON-subsonic rounds in their weapons pack, which is why they are so loud. If you are planning on using subsonic rounds, then your going to need a new sound, because its simply a bit too loud. You can hear it from a distance, it jsut makes it harder to find the shooters location. -The leapord skin shotfun, Im not quite sure I understand the point of it. I love the MK, but that ruins it for me. -Some animations would be a nice addition, have the chamber open or something everytime you fire a shot. Other then those things, everything seems awsome. I love the laser, which is a nice addition, along with the glare on the scopes at night. Overall, as they are only BETA, I give them an 9 out of 10. Good work. bushlurker 46 Posted July 7, 2005 My two cents worth.... This is the best textured M4 series I have ever seen! Bar NONE! Truly professional-level texturing! Well Done! Criticisms?? Lag? Hasn't bothered me in the least... you'd have to be running your system pretty borderline to "too high detail, etc, etc" for a couple of 1024 textures to slow you down significantly. Sounds? I don't know enough about Real-Life SD versions to comment, but I'd maybe agree with MES-Hoot that the SD ones are a little loud... ditto the standard ironsights... something new would've been nice for a change... no biggie with that though... Suggestions? Well, like about 100 peepz so far have said, there's lots of M4 packs around... Lasers one is the one I usually use... I'll be switching to this one because there's a bigger range and the textures are far, far better, AND there's woodland camo versions which Laser doesn't have, and they're GREAT! But... there's one thing missing from Lasers pack and from this one... ARCTIC/WINTER camo versions!!! You seem to be some kind of texture genius Wipman... do you think you could muster as good an Arctic texture as the desert/woodland ones you've already done? Since, as far as I know nobody has done Winter M4's yet, that would complete the set, and make this THE definitive M4 pack, and then there'd really be no need for any other M4 packs... I think the sound on the m4 needs to be louder, because when you start firing your m4 the sound is low so you gotta turn up your speakers, but then when you change to like your handgun and fire its 10x louder than the m4. 2. The M4 x68 S rifles don't have a silencer at the end, or is it just my pc? Also if anyone has put these beauties on the LSR delta/rangers, may you please send me them or send me just the config? Well I have never heard an M4 with a SD on but it is not configed to fire a subsonic round it is confige to fire a M855 round. And you can hear that at a distance. Besides the M4 as it is now can't effectly use subsonic rounds as the gas preasure needed to cycle the weapon is not pressent in a Subsonic round.
