Harnu 0 Posted August 18, 2004 Never hurts to get an early start on these things, especially considering the time it took last year. A couple of developments through the year that I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on as a basis for the rules, categories, and all that other fun stuff. Two things kind of intertwined right now: Name of the awards and to or not to allow VBS1 pictures.  OFP:CP (Operation Flashpoint : Combat Photography) or OPF:EBP (Operation Flashpoint : Engine Based Photography) or something else?  I suppose that the name would go hand in hand with wether or not to allow VBS1 pictures.  And now how about the categories?  Sticking to last years list: Natural, Edited, Humor, Multi-Player, Miscellaneous? Opinions on this are welcome to help me decide in the final rules for this years contest. For any new guys and gals that weren't here for the last photo awards: Winners Natural Voting Edited Voting Multiplayer Voting Humour Voting Misc Voting So, what thoughts do you all have on it this year? korax 4 Posted August 18, 2004 How about an extra VBS category? Since not everyone has it, it would be unfair to let them enter in the regular categories...
Harnu 0 Posted August 18, 2004 One of the things I want to abstain from doubling up the categories, as it would seemingly depreciate the value of the award. Quote[/b] ]it would be unfair to let them enter in the regular categories... How so? Â I'd like to hear exactly what you mean. Simply based on how not everyone has it, or what? Messiah 2 Posted August 18, 2004 well, we're not all fortunate enough to be able to have been given VBS1 by BIA, or have enough money to purchase it. Everyone on these forums has OFP, so this should be the common means to create the screenshots. VBS1 gives people an unfair graphics advantage to take screenshots with, and we should all be using the same means to create the screenshots, otherwise its not a fair contest. sanctuary 19 Posted August 19, 2004 I agree to the suggestions , VBS should have his own category with no VBS picture allowed in the other categories. As it is not like there will be a ton of different people that will submit VBS pictures, it should be a single category, no VBS-natural , VBS-edited etc.... Natural Voting Edited Voting Multiplayer Voting Humour Voting Misc Voting VBS
Gollum1 0 Posted August 19, 2004 Yep, separate VBS category would be best. Btw I didn't see that many combat entries last time IIRC, even though the thread is called combat photography and all...just an observation. I will surely participate this year, anyway...lots and lots of classic pics lined up...

Parvus 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Exactly when I decide. ...we have to read in *coffee remainders* or *throwing chicken bones* to find it out ... or does somebody  know a visionaer? What did Nostradamus said to this point? ... maybe there is an answer..

That or adding combatbetween engine based and photography would be too long. Plus not all actual combat photography is of actual combat. There's lots of pre-post engagement stuff too. Harnu 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Get your portfolio ready! The leaves have falled from the tree's here and it's time to start getting everything into the last stages or prep. RULES: 1. Natural OFP: Permissible editing: Resizing, Cropping, Crosshair Removal, HUD Removal. 2. Edited OFP: Any level of editing allowed. 3. Multi-Player: Picture taken during an MP game No editing allowed. If anything is done to it, the original picture must be included, or it will be classed into Natural/Edited OFP 4. Humour: Single picture, or series of pictures (Comic strip), that have comedic value. 5. Miscellaneous: Picture must not apply to the above categories. Picture can involve anything in game. Same stuff as last year. VBS Not included due to only such a minority actually having it, and it's ability to tip the balance of the playing field. Questions/comments/suggestions? JUDGES: This year judging will be handled the same way. A panel of two to four judges per category will collaborate on submitted pictures, and a final top ten will be produced for each category. Those then pictures are then put to vote to the general public of the forum, and the winner recieves a tag for their signature. The first judging slots will go to last years judges (PM to them about it will go out soon), if they wish to judge again, and new invites. If you wish to judge a category, to fill in any slots we don't already have a judge(s) for, please send a PM to me. NOTE*** You CANNOT judge a category you submit a picture to. WINNER'S SIGNATURE: The prize last year was a simple addition to their signature. If anyone wishes to make, or has any ideas on a sig icon/avatar for the winners, please IM me. Last year's : I'm off to put together the list of invites for the judges, that PM will go out in a few hours, or tommorow.
