Pappy Boyington 0 Posted August 23, 2004 ok thats. your island?! wow. now that looks nice! about the empty streets and shit. . it gives what i like to think of as, a ghost recon feel. for the GR-ers out there you know what im talkin about, embasay. few destroyed cars, the random scared-shitless-civilian running away. the ambient sounds of jet fighters and shells wizing overhead. and a silent street, could be your worst nightmare. i see ALOT of potentional here. imean you said there would be little lag right? well i could see making a GR mission embasy on this map. please please please ensure the streets are AI pathed so the tanks will drive down the streets and not over buildings. phil, you say your not a great addon maker. . . if oyu want my honest opinoin, you come out with ALOT of stuff. some times its not the best of the best, but every so often you tend to fill a void with your products and they seem to fit the bill more then you think. for instance. i wasnt a big fan of your lambergeni, im not saying its bad, just not to my likeing, but i LOVE your cargo liner. so dont be so hard on yourself. you really do some nice work. and i assure you if your island is half as good as those screenshots, then this is deffenitly one of your "ups" on the addon making chart. you can bet that will be downloaded here Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Also Pappy was so right with the GR missions,definitely the Tbilisi mission was one of the best. Or I just could roll out an russian tank divison into the city while civilians are watching worthless how their beautiful town was occupied,after that is easy,guerilla fighting missions. On the real though, metro city is going to need some sort of way of financing everything, some economy, some government buildings, jobs, food sources for people living there, utilities, fresh water source (lake or something close), power center to power all those skyscrapers, all that stuff to make it really real. I think AGS can accomodate, as well as the other building addons. So far all i've seen is the business district. What about the poor housing? The middle class? I like the feeling how everything seems cramped. Don't forget entertainment, ofp editor has a pub, even an open one. If the place looks like it actually has to accomodate for the civillians rather than a shooting gallery than ill download it. The more real the better. Other names: Crystal City Millenia City New Los Angeles Capitolburg or Matrix City because everyone is plugged into a desk in a high rise office for miles around fueling the economy. philcommando 0 Posted September 19, 2004 The island itself is empty but if u have downloaded the attached placement mission file u will see that all the buildings are already in place. Actually i released it as a experimental trial beta model with the purpose :- 1. Its possible to have a cityscape without much lag 2. An opportunity to have fun in an entire city 3. May it lead to further developement by other addonmakers to create their own cities. As this was released a month ago, unfortunately there were already much progress achieved by addonmakers. However progress is an ongoing affair and such advances will be incorporated in the final version. Do let me know what is the lag like and further ideas that we can cut down on the lag. Err...this addon was not intended to be a picture postcard island but a compromise between game and art, more skewered in favour of game play. Thanks Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
