JdB 151 Posted July 21, 2004 I voted US Green Berets. This doesn't mean that I want anyone to do a whole new US soldier model or M4 pack. It just means that imo there are no good US Green Berets. I saw a documentary on Discovery Channel recently about a Green Berets unit in Afghanistan. They look like a rag-tag force, with long beards (to look more like the natives). They decide how they dress and what weapons they use themselves. They are supposed to be friendly with the locals and gather information about possible weapon caches, hostile troop concentrations etc. They are deployed in 12 man squads, far from friendly bases. If they would come into big trouble, it would take at least an hour for friendly forces to arrive there by chopper. All the current SF look too clean (not saying I could do better). Messiah 2 Posted July 21, 2004 british royal what? i think you're a little confused... our commando's are the Royal Marines... SBS come under special forces, like the SAS - they are drafted from the navy and royal marines, and the sas are drafted from the army (in general)... one way to look at it i guess is that our SBS are like the american SEAL's - they deal mainly with marine spec ops (boat interdictions etc) and the SAS can be thought of a combination of Green Beret's, Delta, Rangers (although rangers are probally more comparable to Para's/Pathfinders) but this is a very crude representation of the two regiments... calm_terror 0 Posted July 21, 2004 a note also 10th mountain IS NOT SF they are not more a mountain division then the 2ID. the 10th mountian is just a normal light infantry division they look the same as any other US soldier.. also green berets are almost the same as delta they use the same gear same weapons same uniforms in fact delta IS green beret they are just have a different mission. also 20th SF group IS green berets as well. the CIA field officers wear normal civi clothing with a baseball cap and maybe camo pants. also as pointed out your british names are fubar.. oh and there is no US force recon you meant USMC force recon.. one thing great lackign in OFP is USAF PJ's.. and USAF helo pilots.. You want SAS in missions at the moment, use the DPM Infantry and just cammo them up with bergans and no beret and no helmet - give them some M16's and u've got a pretty good stand in till an SAS addon comes out (well it looks good in the demo mission) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
