Baron Hurlothrumbo IIX 0 Posted July 16, 2004 If thats the pistol on a stock with a small tv camera on it, it's been shown here in the past (about a year ago maybe)
InqWiper 0 Posted July 16, 2004 The pistol can probably be useful but its not cool and its not impressive. Did you see the end of the video? A pistol with a bipod lol wtf?
Bordoy 0 Posted July 16, 2004 This has already been posted i think, but its not that good. I was watching a program on Discovery or UKtvHistory channel, and British forces were using a weapon to fire over the trenches without exposing any of the body. mr burns 132 Posted July 16, 2004 the cornershot again ? many people here meant that a 9mm gun isn´t powerful enough for the purpose the rifle was designed for.

Denwad 0 Posted July 16, 2004 you don't have to expose *any* of the body.
ran 0 Posted July 16, 2004 I don't see any particular use for it ... Good old mirrors and newer optical fibers and such (along with "flashbangs" and offensive grenades) do it, and they're more discrete (ok, not the "boom-devices", but you get what I mean) than this gun, and I wouldn't trust a video display to take my aim in a situation which woyuld need accuracy and fire control. Now, take into account the nature of the weapon mounted on this system, a handgun isn't the most useful thing in CT/HRT duties except if you have to "travel light" (recon, advanced EOD-and that's if you're right in the action and not wearing the "space suit"). Handguns generally offer a limited range and in this weird set-up a relatively hazardous accuracy -more like lack of-(and often a lesser stopping power than your main weapon). Procedures for rooms and area cleansweeping exist and have been combat proven, and they generally don't require that kind of hi-tech gizmos of dubious efficiency. Most military and police R&D department are working on better solutions and platforms for off-sight aiming. I don't mind having to expose my hands after a cautious check if it means i have a chance to neutralize the "bad guy" in one shot (ok, ok, let's say a double-tap) without endangering the "innocent people" around, my team and me. And overall, this system looks clumsy(well, a lot of weapons happen to become clumsy in CQB/FIBUA -which is generally a big no-no iduring HRT and CT duties-) but there it's just too much of a hassle for what it is : just a pistol grafted on a weird looking and not-so-practical folding support with a pistol grip. -edit- I haven't watched the video(s) so I may have missed a few things. Well, it's beem shown before, and it's almost completely useless. Thats the main thing.
