@cero 0 Posted June 10, 2004 Hi all. I'm working in a Paintball multiplayer game using Zafana as a terrain and the MARPAT pack for units. The question is, would you lot like to play paintball tipe of missions? If so, should I load them with just assault rifles or you guys think that I should use proper squad loadouts, like rocket launchers and MGs inclouded? Would you like if I use a cuple of AI controled vehicles per side to make it more tasty? Any sugestions? Should I bother? My experience in multiplayer is minimum, so I don't really know what you lot would do with a bunch of paintball missions. Will they be played much if they are good? Let me know what you lot think please. Regards. @CERO.
@cero 0 Posted June 11, 2004 I take that no body is interested in paintball tipe of multiplayer missions. I won't bother then. Regards. @CERO.
Skewballzz 0 Posted June 11, 2004 @cero, I am Are you planning on making paintball gun models? If so, all I ask is that you make a Tippmann model 98. I wont go into how i love it, turing this thread into a paintball gun discussion. Good luck with it, and if worse comes to worse, you and me can play it
Tomislav 0 Posted June 11, 2004 how are you going to make it possible that you see the paintshoot on the uniform but not kill him
@cero 0 Posted June 11, 2004 Oh, I see, nobody played the paintball missions shiped with OFP disc? That's what the problem is, you lot think I'm about some kind of modification, lol, no, I'm about the kind of multiplayer mission. Not really paintball. In the ones made by BIS all you have is an M16 for each player in west, and a Ak for each player in East. The winer team its the one who haven't wasted all of their team memebers. I been working in one based in the BIS "Reall paintball" mission that its played in the dessert island. I'm using Zafana as the terrain, and E&S marines as units. So, in the original one, BIS only alow you to use basic assault weapons, the M16 and the AK74. There is only 4 players a side. There is not other stuff around appart from civilian AI taking pictures and tallking and somebody in a sport car driving around dessert island My question Do you guys would rader if I use a squad or half squad per side, full squad load outs instead of just AK74 and M16, and some AI controled vehicles to suport or attac the players? If any of you ever played paintball in OFP you know what I'm about. Any sugestions or ideas are wellcome. Regards. @CERO.

Homefry 0 Posted June 12, 2004 There are a bunch of guns in the E&S Pack, maybe have a script that picks a variable, and causes that variable to relate to a gun for East and West. That way, the sides are balanced and you get different weapons everytime. (If you don't follow me, PM me and I'll explain more). You could also maybe have MG Jeeps that are undrivable, but the gun can still be used (or MG Blackhawk - just setfuel to 0). Good luck.
Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 12, 2004 @Cero I have been playing this game many years, so I do know what missions you are talking about. But many players I see here today are not pre-1.46 vets, so a lot are not familiar with the paintball maps. Nowadays, when someone mentions something everyone else thinks they're making a "mod". Pretty much to everyone out there who hasn't played these kind of maps before, it's a type of TDM (Team Death Match). The arena is usually a smaller area, filled with several obstacles in between each team's start point, so you have stuff to hide behind and under. Mostly made with smaller-sized teams, just the basic of weapons, no hand grenades and junk. When it starts, you just run out, take cover, and shoot away. Think of it just like a paintball speed course. I'm not into those maps. I'm a realism freak, with tactics and all that. I hate CS, which these kind of maps sort of copy games like CS. But there are many out there that DO like these maps, and I think making some new ones would be interesting. You would be best keeping the team sizes small and the play area small too, or it doesn't have the same feel as the paintball. Those maps are made to prevent "campers" for the most part, and if you add too many players it means bigger maps, which means camping. Best to keep it about Squad or Fire Team level, maybe 6-8 players max per side.
Tomislav 0 Posted June 12, 2004 sounds great, could you make one castle style mission
@cero 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Thanks guys. @ Ninja, yes, you got some good points there, I been working in that one in Zafana using a 80% of the island terrain as the playfield, or battle zone I think that its going to be to big, so I may reduce the playing area. I thought about teams of between 6 or 7 players each, and the weapon loadouts to make it more variable than just AK74 and M16, so I added a MG to each side, and a grenade launcher. No hand grenades, but smoke grenades are available, to make it more interesting. I may use static MG to add more flabour. After this one I will go back to Dessert island and do something in there. I was thinking in using the mission.sqm to add some buildings and stuff, because I don't know of another way to put buildings in there without the need of addons, but if its to much of a pain I'll be using Kegetys editor addon, most people have it anyway. I come across a cuple of scripts in the BIS paintball that I have to modifie, and I have to redo the intros and outros, that should't take me too long, if RL give me a chance I'll have two of them finished sometime this week. Wizzywig, I'll send you them when they are finished so you can beta test them for me if you are up for it. I'll post on the beta testing section when they ready, so if anybody wanna have a go you'll can grab them in there. Any more sugestions are wellcome. Regards. @CERO. ade_mcc 0 Posted June 14, 2004 @cero, yes, i'd be interested. Yes, OFP is all about realism and everything, but the occational blast on the original paintball map is great fun. I had a search the other day for variants on the original paintball map and found a grand total of 3 -> one using addons that I couldn't locate, one that lacked any inspiration and one exactly the same but with FDF units. Its never going to replace co-op or CTI but im supprised that there aren't more of this type. Just my thoughts, and good luck!
@cero 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Okey dokey then, a week has gone and I'm still stocked somewhere. One problem I come across, how the hell I change the intro camera coordinates to fit my mission? I'm a doomei for scripting, but I know what I'm doing by replacing stuff in the scripts made by BIS. BIS made this scripts for the mission "Reall Paintbal": Aliving.sqs Cemetry.sqs Init.sqs intro.sqs outro.sqs Rozhod.sqs Showtime.sqs Timing.sqs Uvod.sqs and another 10 different scripts for soldier loadouts and conditions and so on.(I allready edited them for the weapons) The only scripts I come across of all of this scripts I listed that have coordinates and are camera related are this: intro.sqs outro.sqs and Uvod.sqs Well, I edited them, save the mission so the new edited scripts load, and then try it in the mission editor, but the bloody camera still pointing at the same coordinates that do in the dessert island, so its miles away from the game zone. I checked that the trigers don't have any cutscenes made by using them combined, but its nothing there. I'll remind everybody that I'm not creating the mission, I'm just transforming the original by BIS. BTW, the one in Zafana its on hold, cos the terrain was giving me some problems of indecision, so I been working in one in Sarugao. If somebody think that can give me a hand to understand the problem let me know and I will send you the mission. You'll need the MARPAT marines by S&E and Sarugao. Regards and thanks. @CERO.
