ZIKAN 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Excellent work UKF team, impressive video. A Question though, with the AI having the bayonet fitted, can they also shoot at the same time, or must they take off the bayonet to be able to resume firing again? Also it would good if the AI automatically fixed bayonets as a result of them having no ammo left, without them being ordered to do so.
bmgarcangel 0 Posted April 29, 2004 I just email Junno about the bayonet stuff...do you think he will aid us in getting a bayonet on a SKS and Garand and other rifles
Messiah 2 Posted April 29, 2004 I just email Junno about the bayonet stuff...do you think he will aid us in getting a bayonet on a SKS and Garand and other rifles  that, i assume, will be in his reply to your email.... Zikan - excellent question... as far as shooting goes, i think they are unable to because of engine limitations (but don't quote me on that) - hopefully Tom will be able to enlighten us - as for no ammo... thats a very good suggestion - im not sure if its been thought of by Tom yet, but again, im sure he'll be able to answer better than i can
Tom Norman 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Of course you can shoot with bayonets fixed! No one would ever use them if you couldn't. The rifle functions exactly as normal except for the added advantage of a last-resort close-quarters weapon. Once the bayonet is fixed, you can kill enemy soldiers by running up close to them. For computer controlled soldiers, having a bayonet fixed will result in the said soldier carrying out a bayonet charge at any enemy soldiers within a certain distance in their forward field of vision. As for the no ammo suggestion, it is very difficult to do because UKF soldiers use JAM magazines which don't register ammo count properly. We can't just count the magazines either because of the possible presence of a pistol and associated mags. The bayonet itself counts as a pistol mag until it has been fitted (at which point it disappears from your inventory).
Tom Norman 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Perhaps in a future update we'll have some such modifications and features, but it's complete for now.
Messiah 2 Posted April 29, 2004 *shuts up* well... there are always updates people - thanks for replying Tom
ZIKAN 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Have you implemented any sounds to it yet? Im thinking that either a stabbing sound might be effective, or perhaps a 'war cry' from the unit with the bayonet, but obviously this wouldnt be too cool for a stealthy approach...just an idea. Tom Norman 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Yeah, we've thought about it, I pitched the idea to Jonno, but I think this is going to have to be something for a future update. I'm just keen to see the infantry released ASAP. However, if you think you could record a good British 'war cry', then by all means, give it a crack and send it my way. If it cuts the mustard we'll see about converting the format and building it into the next update. Ideally though, we'd probably need several versions so we could play a random one each time (for variety).
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 1, 2004 The script is done, the bayonet itself is done, the inventory object is done, the animation is done and the UKF infantrymen are done...but Jonno has made a deal with the Falklands mod people to release their stuff simultaneously. The reasoning for this is beyond my understanding. We're making two different kinds of mods, and yet he insists. He said he wanted to wait until he'd got at least one demo map ready. I've made him a simple demo map, but yet things are still not perfect enough for him. Everything is ready, I don't know why he's keeping you waiting.

MLF 0 Posted May 1, 2004 I think there making missions. Quote[/b] ]At this present moment in time the DPM pack is complete! Hooorah!Beta testing had revealed to us MANY bugs that are now fixed we are pleased to announce. In addition to this we plan to get a couple of missions ready before we release, one Single Player and one Multi-player ideally. Yes this does mean waiting a bit longer untill the release date, but this is not all bad news, as it will also give us more time to finish the Landrovers 90, 110 General Service aswell as the 90, 110 with mounted GPMG, now sporting some new animations, so that they can be released on the same day. Finally here are the final two screens we shall make public before the release date, enjoy, no we aren't trying to tease, I swear. also it seems there gonna release them with the land rovers aswell. somebloke 0 Posted May 2, 2004 thats jonno for ya. Lets go round and make him hurry up *grabs baseball bat*
Tom Norman 0 Posted May 2, 2004 It takes the piss. The Landrovers are done too and they look incredible. He's kicking the arse out of it now. We've got about 16-20 different landrover variations. Dessie, DPM, RMP, 90, 110, GPMG mounted. He'll probably not be happy until he's got UN colours, cam nets and bloody snow chains! I know he's got a lot of work on at the moment so he's been busy. But it's ready. It's done. The sooner he realises that the sooner we can get this stuff released for your viewing pleasure.
