.granQ. 0 Posted April 22, 2004 i am sure this topic has been up many times, people finding islands that look like malden and such, but don't think anyone has posted this info on the forum and since it is not in the avon lady's faq it is not official is it? ;) anyway was playing around some.. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> class DefaultWorld { access = ReadOnlyVerified; plateFormat="$$$ ## - ##"; plateLetters="ABCDEFHIKLMOPRSTVXYZ" //default center position centerPosition[] = {6400, 6400, 0}; latitude = -40; // positive is south longitude = +15; // positive is east What is intresting here is the two last lines. Malden/everon/kolgujev is all in the same place in the world and that is: 40 N 15 E Not very exact position but we can say it is very close to prag ;)
scfan42 0 Posted April 22, 2004 I don't remember where the real Everon and Malden are, but Kolgujev is topographically based off of Tenerife island, which is part of the Canary islands off the coast of Africa. Though Tenerife has two airports on it... But all three of them are based off real islands, and I do believe that position has to do with the position of the fictional islands in order to create proper stars in the skies and proper sunrise/sunset times. Like the FDF map, Eastborder, on Feb 24, the sun comes up late (8 AM) and sets early (5 or 6 PM) which is probably set by those numbers.

EiZei 0 Posted April 23, 2004 Can the OFP engine simulate the weird sun patterns of the poles, where it can be sunlit continuously for weeks on end e.t.c.? At least the nights seemed awfully well lit on east border at summer dates..

somebloke 0 Posted April 23, 2004 Going on from this but more to ofp conflict itself. By any chance is it based on the events in Kosovo between Nato and Malosovich? it's just the camo of the resistance is very similar to that of Albanian Fighters of that time. And it all seems very Serbian/Yugoslavian in ofp.

4-Eyes 0 Posted April 23, 2004 I don't know where you guys are getting this. How can it be based on the NATO, vs Yugoslavia deal? The cammo is similar, probably by coincidence. It is used a lot. How does it seem Serbian/Yugoslav? The Russian uniforms are nothing like the Yugoslav ones.

nyles 11 Posted April 23, 2004 The Resistance camo is parts old Swiss camouflage and parts modern German Flecktarn.
4-Eyes 0 Posted April 23, 2004 I meant as in landscape and towns. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Ever been to the Balkans? The landscape is somewhat different. And the towns don't resemble any Serb towns I've ever seen. edit: and here's where you can check wich uniform looks like the resistance one.
