Major Fubar 0 Posted April 22, 2004 Making small units requires a whole new animation set I believe, or does it. Hey, if we can get dogs, chickens and mules ingame, different sized soldiers shouldn't be too hard!
bmgarcangel 0 Posted April 22, 2004 LOL It isn't. I just need some small soldiers and new animation, not that much smaller though hehe

coporal_punishment 0 Posted April 22, 2004 Um don't you need to redo the animations to prevent clipping when getting into vehicles and using some weapons.
@cero 0 Posted April 22, 2004 Yes, I would like to see a 4 ft soldier being the gunner in a M113. 4 foot soldiers, my boy is five years old and is 4 foot tall, its a big difference between a 4 Ft human to a 6 Ft. And 5 Ft still too short, 5'50" would be more acceptable, but normally the military have size restritions, and in a guerrilla kind of team, nobody that short would last long alive in the field at list is not carring any kit. @CERO. Major Fubar 0 Posted April 22, 2004 Yes, but not all militaries are strapping 6' Anglo-Saxons!

Say what? In case you didn't remember those little Vietnamese gave big tall American soldiers one hell of a fight. Size doesn't mean much in actual combat. In fact you WANT to be smaller. If you're taller, it just means you are a bigger target and easier to hit. Shorter=smaller target. Also being short doesn't mean you're not in excellent physical shape. You may not be able to carry 100+lbs of gear, but if you have plenty of manpower (as the Vietnamese did) then the equipment is just distributed better. But just about anyone can carry an average combat load of ammo, equipment, and weapons. Also in many enviornments such as urban warfare enviornments, a guerilla does not need to carry huge amounts of equipment if he has stockpiles of equipment, weapons, and ammo hidden around in the area. He is more worried about being able to move quickly and only carrying enough ammo for a mission or a firefight. Sure you can argue that the bigger soldier is stronger in hand to hand combat, but even that doesn't always prove to be the case as some US soldiers found out going up against Vientamese soldiers armed with a bayonet or knife. When it comes to knife fighting, generally its the invidivual who is the most agile and the quickest who wins. Only in a purely hand to hand (no weapons of any type) combat would the bigger soldier have an advantage. But it's really a moot issue as its very rare that US soldiers face hand to hand combat in modern combat. Generally things are resolved with bullets and hand grenades in CQB. For the most part, size does not matter so much in combat. What matters more is morale, firepower, and training. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

bmgarcangel 0 Posted April 22, 2004 LOL All I was pointing out hehe, asian guys are pretty small, alot of them back then. Compare a UN soldier to a South Korean, North Korean, or Chinese soldier back then...whoa molly asian man would be very tiny. We'd also need to work out holding gun animations so that american soldiers could pick up commie guns too...anyhow, anyone willing to work with us on this crap? ~Bmgarcangel
Shadow NX 1 Posted April 22, 2004 The vietnamese units in the NAM Pack 2 were all a bit smaller than the us soldiers... maybe take a look at those units

MAA 127 Posted April 22, 2004 @One: CSLA Soldier is average tall 1.8m. Most soldiers in regular army are 18-20 year old recruits ...so they are not muscular 2m tall supermans as can be shown in movies:)
Shadow NX 1 Posted April 22, 2004 could u like possibly give me a picture, comparing them to the BIS soldiers :-DI have 56k and its a realy pain in the ass to download a huge file sometimes... Darn, it seems i was wrong, placed them next to each other and its more the thin look of the vietcongs that made them look bit smaller... Â Or if they are smaller than its just a few centimeter... drow 0 Posted April 22, 2004 dudes, i dont think koreans and chinese are any shorter than US soldiers, but i would say that vietnamese are, or were, maybe thats all it is, those countries had poor supplies and soldiers were malnutritioned and starving... Vietnamese people do tend to be shorter tho... I think  PS Voidfalse i hate your avatar!  PPS looking at those pics of the SEB nam guys reminds me how long its been that we all have been playing OFP with soldiers who stand bull legged.  (since the very begining...)
