Vietnam era fortified tower

Ok, I have made a fortified tower. but I don't know how to post pics of it.

I think this addon is pretty good so far. I still have to re-do the upper sandabag walls but for now it seems very funcional in game.  smile_o.gif (and don't look to bad either IMHO)

But I would like to not only have someone else test it out but I would like to know how to post screenshots of it here.

I made it because there's no "good" towers out there for base camps. I think this could be good for MP as you can get @ least 3 guys in it. 2 fit very cumfy in it. And an M2 is a perfect fit! And if not MP it looks good as a scenery filler.

Someone please help me post some pics so as I can get some QT info about this! biggrin_o.gif

PS The config needs re-done I think. It's a generic Viewtower CPP and I think this thing could use some extra properties like bieng able to rearm the M2 Or just flat rearm or cargo space.

Oh yeah and I'm a total noob to all this. I am carpenter by trade so moding buildings is right up my alley biggrin_o.gif

PS. so far the only glaring bug I have found is if you try to get too close to or keep walking in either of the front corners you pop out the other side.

Well as I said This is realy my first and its still not exactly the way I want it. I am re-building the sandbag walls to give them a more "real" touch.

I started with a bunker then I saw that the Unsung Mod is building one so I am not sure if I want to release it if I finish it.

But I am open to sugestions.

I don't think I will attempt vehicles as there are far better MODers out there that I could never compete with. But doing buildings I think I can compete as I have been doing Carpentry for about 12 years now and was an Army Heavy Eng/Carpenter so I have built lots of fighting positions.

Only prob is that realism is almost imposible as you cant "dig in" your fighting positions so there is a compromise there.

I redid the walls and I think they look MUUUCCCHH better (but thats just my O)

perfect, maybe try to use that new tga to pac converter, it look s a lot better with those pacs. Also take a look at batteling bitches sandbag textures, base them kinda off of those (or ask him to use his). Anyways good work ofp has been needing something like this. Oh yeah forgot make a version with a microphone on it with wires running down to the bottem. Need some Vietnam era object suggestions? A water tank, shower stalls, large sandbag bunkers,tall sandbag walls, (heres an easy one) groups of boxes like in Mapfact's pack, oh heres a must A DESTROYED VERSION OF YOUR TOWER!!!!!!!!!! that would be awesome for post missions and cutscenes, like where an rgp hit it and blew half of it apart, or make on that has topeled over (burn marks included) anyways im done biggrin_o.gif

A certain k-9 of mine informed me that highlighting the whole model and pressing "U" should make it look even better.

Yeah I think adestroyed tower fits the bill. And a water tower should be a snap as I already have the trestle built with this tower. And definitly a Com point in the tower is a must! thanks for the hint wink_o.gif

PS. sort of offtopic. Is it possible to get ai to go up the ladder and stay in the tower??? I can get a soldier to go up the ladder but then he just jumps back off. I put paths in the tower but when I tell AI to go to any of the Pos's he just runs under the tower and stands where that pos is.?

dude did you check out BB's sandbag textures, they kick the crap outta BIS's textures. look on ofp.cz if ya dont have it.

I'll have to check out BB's sand bags as this is the second mention of them. And yeah the BIS sandbags are kinda "Fresh" if ya know what I mean.

Oh and in RE to SpongeBob I got the idea from here

well just look at his sand bag textures and try to mimic his technique. I will try to make a good sandbag texture of you that you can modify and what not.

hey did you just join Unsong mod? If so I'm sure someone there has some nice sandbag textures, you should just use those, so when the mod is released it all looks toghter and uniform. If you did want me to make you a texture you need to tell me how big or send me the texture youre using right now. Good job cant wait to get this biggrin_o.gif

Yeah I guess I did. tounge_o.gif  so far everyone I've spoken with is real pleasant.

As far as sand bags it's pretty much the same ol. Theres some real good top and end textures but the wall face thing?

I like the feel of the BIS sandbags I just don't care for the tones. Its sorta right outa the box ya know, not to mention tha the whole time I was in We only filled OD sand bags.

I really like the sandbag texture from NamPack but its very limited due to the top and sides of the texture but the tone and color are great.

The one I am using is 256x256 and it's wall to wall sandbag. (very good for tileing) It seems the perfect size.

I'll send it if you like. Just PM me and say where.

The towers close I just need to work out the rest of the Res Lods and I'm there.

I gave my bunker to the Unsung mod where I made some sandbag textures that blend in with the one you're using, since I used the same one as a base...

Yeah I got it and it works grand I especialy like the wall end texture. Drow sent me some bunker stuff:D  

For anyone listening I would like to point out 2 key flaws with above bunker.

First let me say it looks great as I have played with it.

But

1: Square bunker? have any of you people ever filled and stacked sand bags. These things don't come by the pallet load to the field prefilled with exactly the same amount of sand in them. So unless you are a machine your sandbags are always different sizes

2: With a fighting position of any kind you want to give as much protection as you can. IE points of fire "open" non points as closed as possible.

Each pont of fire from a position like this is given sectors which interlace with the other positions on your perimiter.

In conclusion you don't need open air all the way around.

Any way I'm not bitchen just saying to anyone who intends on making fighting positions to maybe go to the local Mil Surplus and look at the Infantrymans field manual (FM????-?? don't remember the nomenclature) as it has alot of diagrams for foxholes and fighting positions.

All the same the above Bunker By Donnervogel is really good.
