well but then i don't want them to come back for ofp2. traitors

Have you ever considered that this attitude may be the reason why they left for VBS1.

Its kind of simple minded to think that they left for the money or because some of us werent very supportive or thankfull for what they gave us (the traitors gave us alot of material, result of many hours of their time and work).

I think developing addons for VBS gave them a great oportunity to work on a professional level, something they can put on their portfolios but also to improve their creative and developing skills, all this could really help them start their careers has professional artists, who wouldnt like to do what they love for a living instead of a challenging, time consuming and free hobbie? wink_o.gif .

So its quite lame for people not understanding such a simple thing, i am happy for the guys that got hired and am still gratefull for all the many good things they made for us in the past smile_o.gif .

Well I'm sorry that Combat team leaved the Ofp modding some time ago, their add-ons are top notch quality and their work will stay for a long time in my mod folders but if they're paid for something they like to do than good for them.

Besides Ironsight has an FMTV in works,so I will not miss much that Us army truck pack and hope that Ofp will get a nice Fmtv. smile_o.gif

New game engines mean new ideas and new types of addons.

To sit here and complain about why people dont want to play OFP for 10 years is a bit duh.

Besides, the new games are still OFP basically.

I can kind of see both sides here. The simple truth is that they are getting paid to do the VBS1 thing. If I were in their shoes I'd go where the money is also. I can see where some people are bummed though as it's sad to lose a talented group like Combat! . Think about it from their perspective, would you really turn down a job doing what you like and instead just make stuff for free?

I have to admit I'm a little sad about the things we'll never see now. My one hope is that perhaps some of what they make might make it to us after all in the form of upgrade patches for Armed Assault, remember the upgrade patches back before resistance?

Perhaps we may see some of their work in the initial release of Armed Assault, it alreadly looks like we might be getting a BAS little bird judging from screenshots from E3.

Well all I can say directly to the Combat! team is, well done and good luck with your new jobs.

Which one of that list are 'traitors'? Hmm? BAS, DKM, and Combat! have not only made beautiful addons that the community has put up on the virtual shelf to collect dust, but they've also made a bunch of the defining addon development processes and functionality. Nearly every single addon in existance in the community owes some sort of background or reference to work first done in one of those three groups. If you want to know how to implement a large-scale project, take Combat!'s stuff apart and see how they did it in terms of organization and heirarchy. A lot of their work builds as well on stuff first experimented with by BAS and others. Combat!'s work has to be some of the best organized and well polished modules that I've seen, and the community would do well to learn from their example. Now they're looking to explore other applications professionally that are either not practical, or irrelevant to strictly entertainment products, and more power to them.

At any rate, is there really any OFP addon that's ready to just be lifted and dropped into professional use - other than Gimbel's Tossers? I don't think so, whether it's visible or not there's always a whole pile of changes and reworks made. It's ironic that people have no qualms about lifting data and moving back and forth between OFP and other games, but the moment someone decides to make something and sell it professionally to military customers, the sky starts falling and it's the end of the world the traitorous anti-christs.

You do realize that this is what mere mortals call "just a game", that there are other forms of illuminations other than your PC screen - including the bright shiny thing called "The Sun". You might want to check out the island map called "Outside", it has the best of all vegetation packs and no lag.

As for Combat!, only they know their own plans. Who knows if they'll make future game addons or just professional grade stuff. There's still so much to learn from what they've already done, we'll be well into Game2 before we've digested it all.
