Us colonial marines

no rescources on these, we need to design them first

(along with other stuff that is mentioned but not shown in the manual)

theyll be pretty balanced to the marines

if u want to u can make a list of suggestions or ideas for the bebops

suggestions/ideas:

Borrow the Japanese faces from the BOH mod (and perhaps the scripts for auto faces, saves time).

The bebop rifle rounds are weak against the marine body armor (unit 2.8 from the tech manual, see personal body armor story).

How about putting them in the resistance side (or resistance and east)? That you'd still be able to ally yerself with them.

As for how they should look like. I've been googling a while for "watanabes+colonial", "colonial marines+beebops", etc. etc. With no luck (damn it...).

they include all breeds seen so far except the aleins from alien 4 and avp(YUK!!!)

is there anywhere we can see a progress chart of the USCM mod? I mean like % complete progress bars or something, just so we know what's done. Are you going to release anything along the way or wait until you done everything, if so how long til you're done!

I'm not trying to nag, just really want play with your hard work!

hmm we dont have a site actually...

thers still loads of stuff to do

were just 3 guys.. (ok one chick and 2 guys....)

so dont expect fast progress

specially cuz htere isnt much refernece on uscm vheicles

so even research takes long

basically we can say this is done:

aliens (HOHAAA)

new soldiers (need fixing)

m577 a1 apc (works only poslishing texture work)

ud4l dropship (works, texturing and addtional detail for cockpit)

m41a pulserfle (new model done textures needed)

m56 smartgun (model done)

m87 pig plasma launcher done

sentry guns (model done notingame yet)

m44 ridgeway tank model (50%)

conestoga class carrier (WIP)

yes it will be ingame and be accesable (385 m!!)

complete environment done

i know its not much but creatign such stuff isnt easy...

specially when the movie props arent correct itself

(like the apc....)

I thought I'd seen someone (Der Bastler?) with a working Plasma Infantry Gun. I know I've seen the video on ofp.info a year or so ago - they showed some guys using the PIG to wipe out T-80s. Is that the same one you have?

yes we use bastlers scripts for the pig

but well alter it a bit

the conestoga class carrier just pulls into orbit though doesnt it?

...suddenly has a visual of looking up to see a conestoga appearing over the top of a hill... oh my and oh crap if you are on the receiving end hehe..

Conestoga class ships (like the USS Sulaco) don´t land on planets. That ships just stay in orbit and unload other smaller ships like the UD-4 dropship.

guess a Conestoga in OPF could be used for cut scenes hmm but in missions themselves?

I guess it could work as a critically damaged one that had to set down planetside... crew isolated... alien controlled world... limited ammo.... muahahaha

You could setpos the Sulaco up at 9000m or so (10000m is the max in OFP, IIRC) and still walk around it if it's configged right. I did that with one of the C-130 addons to do HALO ops.

Try setposing Hawk's Nimitz or CBFASI's Invincible to 9000m or so. See what that does. If it works, it's really simple to do dropship operations then - that 9000m is still a long way down. smile_o.gif

yeah itll be a static object in very great height

ull be able to walk aroun on the hangar or crew compartments and drop from it via ds or land on it

alos the conestoga class has a wide range of weapons

like mine launchers

long lance missiles

rain guns

particle beams

sharp sticks...

there wil be smaller scaled carriers for cutscenes

btw think of names for the carriers

know ones (official) are:

SULACO (Aliens)

PATNA (Alien 3)

SAVO

VERLOC (AVP2)

my ideas were:

ATHMALIK

BONZANIGO

think of other names, but not trivial ones like enterprise :P

the famous carrier form aliens was also involved during action on linna 425 where it has been hit by asat missiles

on the conestoga itslef:

these carriers are AI controled,

quite smart AI.

hmm well the class name is conestoga so thats a pretty safe bet for being a name for one..its the USCM so i guess that USMC ship names would work as well like Tarrawa, etc

but personally i wouldnt mind one called Saratoga

and nephilim you are mean for saying no to Enterprise tounge_o.gif

all i can say is that it will be a hell of a sight the first time you drop from this ship.... need a hudson going woohoo sound effect for that biggrin_o.gif

How about:

Demiurge - (as in Plato)

Harkonnen - (for a bit of cross sci-fi polination smile_o.gif )

Damocles - (more Greek geekery)

Janjamo - (just made up as far as i know...)

EDIT: WHAT AM I THINKING! The only name it could possibly have is 'Nephilim' ... it's only fitting really smile_o.gif

Nephilim isn't bad at all. smile_o.gif Most amphibious ships are named after famous Marine battles - Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tarawa, Tripoli, etc. From your list, Savo is a pretty important naval battle from early WW2 for the US Navy (Battle of Savo Island, Ironbottom Sound, etc.). I'd humbly request a ship name along these lines. smile_o.gif

Also - how will you do your drop ships? It would be awesome to do a couple different camos and then use setobjecttexture for 5 or so squadron markings. smile_o.gif

Yes and i would give both of my nuts for aliens being released as a seperate pack, ecspesially if they were relesed today! Wink* Wink* And i would give.......

To come back to the ship in game. Rather than having it set at 9000 meters, what about using the same thing that Black Baron did with its space shuttle?

He managed to create a map of the planet and really make us feel that we are on orbit.

What do you think?
