hellfish6 7 Posted February 24, 2004 I think the XM8 has a lot more "frills" - namely integrated sights and scopes (only need to zero your rifle once) minimal maintenance requirements, etc.

coporal_punishment 0 Posted February 24, 2004 Not all US Army units have snipers attached to them so I am not surprised that some soldiers and their commanders took it upon themselves to equip their soldiers with captured weapons that fill that long range gap. Â The only other weapon that does it is the M240 machine gun but that is a platoon level weapon so there aren't many of them. Â Actually, I think most units are starting to adopt a squad structure with a marksman instead of a rifleman in one fire team. Essentially this marksman will have an M-21 rifle with optics, but won't exactly be a sniper. I know the 82nd has used this squad structure in Afghanistan and I think the 101st had it in Iraq as well. I'm pretty sure it's been said that all other active duty units will adopt marksmen as they can afford it. So should I make a rifle team/infantrymen with a m21

Pappy Boyington 0 Posted February 24, 2004 join the club but you have Jonno I've seen your work and its great,....... can  I borrow him please, he will only need to texture around a dozen weapons. why dont you ask INQ? about 98% of us agree his weapon textures are the best. some have a conspircy theroy about in game lag but ill belive it when i see it. if u use INQs textures use his M14 textures for the M21.
coporal_punishment 0 Posted February 24, 2004 Um well INQ uses jpeg for textures that's why his looks so cool, we can do that too and I can make these infantry look kickas* if i use jpeg but it will kill lower end machines. Also on the other point I'll add a marksmen and it can be up to the users integrety to choose the trooper for his, "her" or its missions
CrunchyFrog 0 Posted February 24, 2004 If you wanted a good M16A2 in the same style as Earl's other weapons, why not just use Suchey's old marine unit release Or you could use the M16A2 that was included in the up-to-date MA Pack (reading the readme's always helps) Hmm, yes, it says in the readme that theres a M16A2, but what is the class name? I had thought that the US Navy SEALs were the only ones still using the M-21. Interesting. From what I understand it's a nice rifle, but that it has some reliability problems and is difficult to maintain. I would think they'd use something like the PSG-9. But the decision may have also been influenced for political reasons in order to keep jobs going since the M-21 is made in America (although I'm surprised they're not outsourcing labor to Mexico and China now). Anyhoo... well at least BIS made a good M-21 rifle. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

CrunchyFrog 0 Posted February 24, 2004 c8xm16a2same magazines as the a4 I see... But what about models with accessories? M203, acog, reflex etc. Those are only available on the M16A4... And, what about a M240? You could use some model, but what about "Earl style" ironsights then? M24? Just my opinion

Just my opinion There are several good M24's around already, including ones from TOW and a guy called Andraz Beravs, both of which are excellent. If I'm not mistaken it's the army that uses the M24 though - the USMC use the M40.
coporal_punishment 0 Posted February 25, 2004 Okay I'm about the start the body armour and I dont' know which one is used by the army The two which I'm stuck on are PASGT INTERCEPTOR which one should I do and which one does the US army currently use? Messiah 2 Posted February 25, 2004 if i remember correctly, its the interceptor (also looking at recent pics in Iraq)
miles teg 1 Posted February 25, 2004 Yeah currently the US Army is using the interceptor vest. Only a few units are still using the older PASGT vest. However if you plan on making US Army soldiers from the first Gulf War, then the PASGT vest would be the vest to make. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Messiah 2 Posted February 25, 2004 M4 is being used extensivly in Iraq because it retains the range and accuracy the M16 offers (to an extent) but because of its reduced length, it is better suited to Urban operations... 82nd Airborne, Armoured Corps etc are all using them in Iraq with the AN/PEQ-2 IR Pointer et al as for the M16's - didnt know all the designations etc, cheers for that DM
