denoir 0 Posted November 3, 2004 But Bush still in lead  163 to 112 Ace, that means nothing. It's not a popular vote count and it's by state. All polls have not closed yet. Kerry has for instance a secured 55 votes from California and so on. The relevant ones are primarily Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

denoir 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Hmm mind telling me what popular vote count is denoir? The popular vote is the straight out vote count - i.e one person, one vote. In the US however they have the electoral system where you don't vote directly for the candidate, but you delegate it to the representatives of your state. Each state has a number of these electoral votes and that's the relevant count. 270 votes are needed to get elected.
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Republicans have launched a lawsuit in Philedelphia over 13000 absentee ballots, claiming they have not time to "validate" the votes.
Bernadotte 0 Posted November 3, 2004 I have word that Bush is slightly ahead in Ohio....Can we say New Florida? Â Â Kinda... Â Apparently, people are still standing in very long lines in some of Ohio's urban areas waiting to vote. Â It could take hours but a judge has already re-inforced the rule that everyone who got in line before the poll closed can vote. The interesting part is that the judge also called for additional voting machines to be brought in to speed up the process, but Ohio's Republican attorney general has already threatened to have any votes cast in such additional machines rendered invalid. EiZei 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Kerry has been getting good numbers on exit polls in Ohio but Florida looks bit bad, however lot of the pre-election votes have not been counted and methinks lot of those were casted by pro-Kerry people.
Acecombat 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Astronaut makes voting history Quote[/b] ]CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (AP) -- With a quick computer key stroke, space station astronaut Leroy Chiao became the first American to vote for president from space, casting an encrypted ballot via e-mail and urging fellow countrymen to go to the polls Tuesday. Astronaut Leroy Chiao is the first American to vote for president from space. Votes coming in from space Ok one things bugging me , how come Illionios result gets wrapped up before the eastern most states? Like florida for e.g , is it because of vote numeric strength there being more or what?

Its hell lot easier to determine the winner beforehand when theres a big margin unlike in Florida where few thousand votes might turn the whole thing upside down. Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 CBS just did an interesting breakdown of Wisconsin voters 35% go to church 45% go less often 15% never go correlate to the above numbers 60% for Bush 52% for Kerry 60%for Kerry Also it is interesting to note that Wisconsin has had a gay governor before. Does this means that all religious people in the US are somewhat stupid , hell that guy has bulldozed plenty of religious values with his stupid war and they dont care about that? Plus John kerrys catholic so wont the church going people support him?

Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Though Texas is considered Bush's win, its interesting to note that my local channel is having a running vote count and it currently stands at 53% Bush 46% Kerry. EDIT: And Dems are winning some districts dispite redistricting, and one district is at 50% to 49% for the Dem. (for state congress)
Acecombat 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Ok now someone explain me this , i know denoir said back that people dont vote for candidates they vote for someone else who in turn elects them right? http://us.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/VA/P/00/ There its a close call between kerry and bush but how come Bush got all the EV? Blake 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Bush is leading 55% to 45% there with 75% of votes counted. Thus, it's is extremely likely Kerry won't take over Bush unless some miracle voter behaviour happen somewhere. The one that wins most votes in a state gets all electoral votes from there - and in VA case all 13.
Acecombat 0 Posted November 3, 2004 This sucks then what about the rest of the people who didnt wanted him in , it seems either you take the lead and take all or fall a bit back and lose everything . This isnt fair! atleast doesnt looks fair to me.

Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Make that 1000192-112 communist broadcasting service projection I'LL TAKE THAT BET just because a)if Bush wins I won't be in this country for long and b) you won't last on this forum for long anyway CBS has him at 196, but they are quick to point out that these are all "slam dunk" states....ie No surprises PS Someone validate my bet! EDIT: Nevermind...CBS says they had a "glitch" and went back to 185. My bet stands. EDIT: CBS also had interesting numbers that 45% were satisfied with Bush 55% were unsatisfied/angry they also tied that to a vote of 60% were making a "protest vote against Bush" CBS just went back to 196 with 11 from Missouri.
