joltan 0 Posted February 11, 2004 I know this is not caused by a bug in OFP, but I nearly can't play them game anymore because my center sound is so low that I cant hear a tank until he's few meters in front of me. Right/left work fine. Now the trouble probably is that I use a normal set of stereo boxes instead of a 5.1 set my Creative Audigy LS supports, but in the audio settings I already selected a stereo environement, and I can't find any other places where I could change this. Unfortunately the Creative support forums are no help (nobody even bothered to answer my question for days now). And please don't start discussing the pro's and cons of the LS or other Audigy cards - it's what I have and what I'll keep for the time being. Reverting to another soundcard isn't really an option at the moment, and unfortunately the onboard sound (5.1, hw accelerated, too) of my MSI nforce2 motherboard causes my system to get instabel and a lot of blue screens. Drivers are all up to date, the bios, too. No Creative software but the hardware drivers installed (bad experiences on ym old system cured me from doing that). Any ideas (or better: definite hints, where to correct the respective settings)?
Architeuthis 9 Posted February 21, 2004 Disable hardware sound or something. (don't know the exact name of the option). It's located in the sound menu. It worked for me. Arch.
Judge Rabbi 0 Posted February 21, 2004 Creative Labs cards always seem to be a bit odd. Say, if I got a Hecules Fortissimo III 7.1 card, do you think any errors will occur with OFP?

EAX seems to get a little weird with OFP (I have htis card), so if you keep that off there are no errors. However the center sound is usually lower than the others, so you bias all speakers seperately in the configuration panel that comes with the card.
joltan 0 Posted February 23, 2004 Thanks, I'll try that... One question: where can I adjust these settings - the speaker configuration has nothing like that (or where I think it may be, it's greyed out).
—=R.I.P.=—™ 0 Posted February 23, 2004 I'm not to familiar with the creative labs cards but you should have more control over the cards configuration in its software.  I use a Voytra Turtle Beach card and it gives me all kinds of speaker settings, voulume controls, 5.1 digital, EQ, etc. with it's software.  More so than windows. Hope this helps
ale2999 0 Posted February 23, 2004 i had the same prob and I use 5.1 speakers with audigy, so eax is off at my house

Not sure, I have this setting for the Fortissimo, some Creative drivers don't have them. (I gave up on Creative for technical reasons, but I may go back for an Audigy 2 )
pynaple 0 Posted February 27, 2004 I just got an Audigy 2.0-ZS and on 5.1 all is good in ofp. EAX enabled no pops or cracks. With the configuration utility and the latest drivers , setting up speakers for surround sound is good, tuning the sound to conform to the room you are in, speaker placement and angle, with the results being a very smooth transition between all the speakers. On stereo speakers, using the CMSS function worked good to centre the sound and broaden the aspect to suit room and speaker placement. (no sneaking tanks). And most importantly All worked great in ofp!! 1.96, I'm impressed with the upgrade Alot of stuff on the Platinum it seems you just don't need, all settings it seems are enabled to play with, a good cut down version.
