r71 0 Posted February 12, 2004 Very nice weapons. I knew the modelling and textures would be spot on because of your previous work Jackal but these are great all the same. One thing that seemed strange to me was that the bipod's are very short. If I go prone with my weapon horizontal the bipod is several inches off the ground and the magazine actually appears to be about an inch longer than it. Is this realistic? This is what is looks like all the way down Are you not going to fix the sound of the gun?
miles teg 1 Posted February 12, 2004 It's INCREDIBLY difficult to get an accurate M16 sound in OFP. I have yet to hear a perfect M16 sound on any M16/M4 addon. Personally I think the sound on this DMS addon is just fine. Plus I LOVE the ricochet sounds when someone with a DMS is firing at you (if you're play the opposing force and if you're lucky enough for the AI to miss you with the DMS). So I hope he keeps the sounds unless he finds something significantly better. I personally don't think it needs to be JAM compatible. I hope that the JAM compatible versions are optional in the next release. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Tannethal 0 Posted February 12, 2004 JAM should be a option of the author, not a must. And i I read that correctly he might just do that by providing a additional and optional PBO with a JAM config. Played a bit more with the DMS rifles and like them even more. Had a quick skirmsh with LOBO Soilders and Zelda at Tonal City with that dreaded rebels. That DMS are great for picking off those nasty RPG armed rebels. @Miles_Teg: A suggestion for the ZELDA, as i assume you're involved with the LOBOs. Edit the Zoom ability of the gunner in optics mode out. It strikes me somewhat odd to have an Iron Sight M2HB and zoom in and out happily with my magic eye. S to Jackal! miles teg 1 Posted February 12, 2004 Yeah I agree, the DMS is great for picking off rebels in Tonal as well as just about anybody else. One big thing I like is that for enemies with similar uniforms, it gives you that little bit of extra zoom to see if they friend or foe. As for the Zelda, I'll have to check and see if the zoom can be fixed. That's something from the BIS M113 .cpp config that the Zelda uses a modified version of. So I'll have to check on that. We may try messing around making a turreted version with a FNMag (M240) gun on it or perhaps make a Zelda 2 with heavy reactive armor (made to withstand hits from big ATGM's and tank HEAT shells). But yeah I'll look into that. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Jackal326 1181 Posted February 12, 2004 ...he might just do that by providing a additional and optional PBO with a JAM config... Thats exactly what I plan to do.
miles teg 1 Posted February 16, 2004 I finally finished the DMS mission. Â It requires a fair amount of addons but if you're into Middle East missions, then you probably already have many of these. Â At any rate read the readme file because it shows where to download all the addons!!! This also includes Hunters Static animatins#2 and also an updated version of Mig's Mule that his his updated .cpp that removes the heavy breathing sound. Â The mission is at: Â http://www.idfsquad.com/downloads/milesteg/LoBo_DMS_sinai.rar My apologies for putting this on this addon page, but since the mission was made specifically for this addon I thought it was appropriate. Jojaboy 0 Posted February 16, 2004 I'm glad people like them...I expected a whole lot of "ERK! More M4s!" etc.Anyway, Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are the most known (at leats to me) forces that use them, I'm sure there are others, so a google search may bring you some results. JAM MIGHT be included in a future update. I like the sound now,why change?
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted February 16, 2004 he won't change the sounds, only add JAM versions.
Jackal326 1181 Posted June 1, 2004 Well, I've had a bit of extra free time recently, so I decided to finally update the DMS Pack. I've added an M16A4 rifle variation, and have changed the ACOG model that I used and have replaced it with one kindly provided by Marcinko. Screenshots to follow in the next few days. ag_smith 0 Posted June 2, 2004 Looking forward to new version. I always liked this rifles, one of my favourite M4 variants. BTW. Any chance to add M4-SPR in the future?

Jackal326 1181 Posted June 2, 2004 ...because Marcinko, the modeller who made me the ACOG I use in the new version, is hopefully going to be providing me with an SPR model sometime in the near future, which I will hopefully include in v2.0 of the pack. ag_smith 0 Posted June 2, 2004 LOL, glad to hear that. Thanks.
Jackal326 1181 Posted June 8, 2004 After much consideration and discussion with my testers, I've decided NOT to include the SPR in v2.0 of the pack. I'm unhappy with the way it looks and feels in OFP, so have decided to remove it for the time being. However, I have replaced it with several other rifles, which, once I get them fully functional (still a few bugs and glitches), I will post more details about, but for now they remain a secret. Jackal326 1181 Posted June 28, 2004 Well, now that my SEALs are on hold indefinately (long story), I've had more time for the DMS Pack v2.0 And in my above post, I said I'd release more information about the new rifles once I got them functioning, and that time is now upon us. The following rifles should be included in v2.0 (bar any unforseen errors or similar): - M16A4 DMS - SR25 MKII - SR25 MKII (Suppressed) - G3-SG1 (similar to a DMS system so I though I'd include it) I was planning on including the MSG90-A1, but changed my mind after the recent release of the SOF-2 Weapons pack (I was planning on using the model from SOFII) and felt it was pointless having 2 weapons exactly the same. tankieboy 0 Posted June 28, 2004 An L96 would be good.
Jackal326 1181 Posted June 28, 2004 Indeed it would, but that is more of a dedicated sniper weapon, the idea of the Designated Marksman System is to create an assault rifle with an increased range i.e. the M4A1 as featured in the pack. So, I doubt it'll feature in the pack, but I may consider it as another project for the near future.
Jackal326 1181 Posted June 30, 2004 Well, I'm long over-due for some screenshots, so to start off here is one of the updated M4A1: http://sjb.ofpr.com/dms2/images/SJB_DMS_M4A1_v2.jpg You can clearly see the excellent work Marcinko has done on the new ACOG optic, as well as the newly added 'cheek-piece' which is conveniently applied to the stock with duct tape (a technological advancement courtesy of the IDF ). More screenshots to follow.

miles teg 1 Posted June 30, 2004 Sweet! Looks great! When it comes out I'll update my DMS mission since it needs to be fixed up or redone anyways. (Some stupid "group" addon thingy is hiding in there somewhere that I need to feret out). Anyways, I'm looking forward to sticking these weapons on the LoBo IDF troops in missions. Lt_Phoenix 0 Posted July 1, 2004 I'm glad to see these weapons are still being updated. I miss supressed versions though.
