MI_Fred 0 Posted January 24, 2004 Ty DM, I cranked up all she got! 1024 text's, 8x dropdown... and then she blew on my face later. Really, objects started to change drawing detail, next day still at 512x512 I got the 'code change required' message during a MP game. Far from the quality of MP details unfortunately. And I blurred the background of the planes, that's a good gimmick Here's a memorable moment: The first game for Gollum1 as a teammember of us. Welcome! (He's in the middle, standing). His motto, 'will die for a shot', was again proved very fitting. He was the one who insisted on a group photo. I took one and went to Paint. Decided to start my capture prog too. I though I had the time but wth, my AI medic was shouting 'Eneemaah!' when I came back... he got 'em, heh.
Acecombat 0 Posted January 24, 2004 What does the autodrop down thing does in OFP btw?
mr burns 132 Posted January 24, 2004 auto drop down is BAD for your screenshots ... shut it off from the 3dspotlight ofp-tweak guide: Quote[/b] ]Auto drop-down. This option seems to determine whether or not the Game can dynamically reduce the detail of textures during the Game, although I’ve not noticed it doing anything when I play the Game. Those on lower performing systems may wish to try setting this to 4x or 2x to try improve performance. edit:typo
Acecombat 0 Posted January 24, 2004 Thanks burns. I usually have it turned off as it only adds lags and does nothing to improve the quality or performance of the game
MI_Fred 0 Posted January 24, 2004 Good to know Mr Burns, I sort of knew that it would hurt my performance, but at the same time if possible, draw really good textures... it did so without changing too much for some 20 minutes, then after some resource hogging alt-tabbing it made the objects change drawing detail at bad moments... It changes them for an object when an object is in the corner of the FOV or at a certain distance. Now imagine what it does when it can't decide at which detail it should draw! It sucks. I have it at 4x usually. I don't see any changing even after an hour... I wonder if it works when my textures are so low as 256x256...
mr burns 132 Posted January 24, 2004 MI_Fred you said that you set yuor textures tu 1024x1024 for the screens...but i have an 2048x2048 option there too  is it just you didn´t wan´t to go that high or do i own a special ofp ? anyway...that drop down thingie annoyed me so bad whilst picture making -alt tabbing out, going in and everything looks messed up - that i shut it off. if textures still do that funky dropdowns it might help to change the values for texture&file heap in your flashpoint.cfg <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Texture_Heap="0"; File_Heap="0"; don´t remember if it was 0 or 1, have to try that out now. edit: 0 is perfect....no more trees popping up out of nowhere, texture swapping gone too. Acecombat 0 Posted January 24, 2004 You have your textures at 256 x 256? I have mine at 2048 or 1024 usually and your quality looks pretty much similiar to mine Wont cranking it up increase the quality?
norsu 180 Posted January 24, 2004 Biggest textures I've seen for OFP are 1024x1024, so I don't think there's any change in 4096x4096 mode for example. Unless some day someone converts OFP to 4096x4096 textures .

dm 9 Posted January 24, 2004 Biggest textures I've seen for OFP are 1024x1024, ... really ? He means the biggest ACTUAL texture size (the physical dimensions of the textures), not the size you can set them to in the preferences.

You still have the possibility to access your website using Tripod WebFTP or any FTP software during the next three months. You can use this time to back up your files. I changed the properties in the cfg file and disabled auto dropdown as you said, but they are still swapping. I noticed that the exe sets them always to atleast 2, so I avoided that. Though now I've had it running for that hour or so in the background and they still wont freeze goddamnit I hope they won't, but time will show. Here's a few pics of comparison: Vehicles at 256 | Vehicles at 1024 No difference is there? But... spruce branches at 256 | spruce branches at 1024 A whopping difference! Next I'll host a game and see if the mean goblin called CTD will come lurking behind my door... EDIT:f***n lame PrtScr or my capturing proggy works half arsed! The vehicle pics are obviously the same, looking at the sky... hmpfh
Gollum1 0 Posted January 24, 2004 Here's a memorable moment: The first game for Gollum1 as a teammember of us. Welcome! Yes, I am also the official combat photographer of OFPTF. Thank you guys! BTW this is my mission Igniting the Blaze, in beta testing. It was praised highly by my team members, although I can't imagine why.
