Scud 0 Posted January 16, 2004 The Shorts (Short Bros. Ireland) Skyvan  SC-7. Role: STOL transport plane (airdrops). Armament: none. Crew: Pilot Cargo: In real life 20 but because ofp soldiers have big butts I could only fit in 15. Landing Gear: Fixed Choice of Jungle or Desert Camo. This is my first attempt at an aircraft. I only did it because I saw several request in forums for small easy to handle ppl movers as a choice over the larger aircraft as the c130's which can not handle some of the tighter shorter runways. Should be ready in a few days. They might come in handy for somebody.
NZXSHADOWS 0 Posted January 16, 2004 Looking good,Finally a smaller Air Proped Trans Aircraft.
Baron von Beer 0 Posted January 16, 2004 That is one fugly aircraft! Great model, etc, just one of those faces "only a mother could love" IMO, will be a good "misc" transport as well. Sort of fill the void between Cesna and Herk. (3rd world military, arms dealers, etc.)
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted January 16, 2004 Aaah the flying Shoebox comes to OFP at last, cough Tonal airforce cough
GoOB 0 Posted January 16, 2004 This plane would kill in a Tonal camouflage scheme! Slap a few old Russian missiles and unguided rockets on it, a small automatic cannon and you have the counter-insurgency tool of a lifetime! The model is looking extremly nice, if you are planning a Tonal version speak to Ebud or some other member of BAS. I am sure they'll send you a PSD of the Tonal camo scheme
sniperuk02 0 Posted January 16, 2004 it couldnt fly very fast with all those weapons nogovan airforce colours and air nogova
GoOB 0 Posted January 16, 2004 it couldnt fly very fast with all those weapons nogovan airforce colours and air nogova Well, atleast it would kill alot of rebels. Who needs speed when you have cannons?! And the guided missiles was just something I threw in there, but this aircraft could be very well suited for maritime recon and blowing small rebel camps away
sniperuk02 0 Posted January 16, 2004 indeed it looks very nice
Evil Weasel 0 Posted January 16, 2004 Just out of interest,is it used by any real-life airforces? iI have to say that's a nice model of a pig-ugly aircraft
GoOB 0 Posted January 16, 2004 Also, any chance of adding a version capable of carrying a Jeep or a UAZ? Perhaps those are too big, but I have seen one of these babies carrying Audi roadsters And I think that the Norwegian "Flyverhjemmevaernet" uses this aircraft, aswell as the Royal Netherlands Air Force and atleast one was sold to the Royal Nepalese army. sniperuk02 0 Posted January 16, 2004 i think the south african airforce uses them and some other african countrys
Evil Weasel 0 Posted January 16, 2004 Thanks for the replies;would it be possible to utilise footmunch's roundel changeable roundel system (or is it trenchfeet's-apoligies if I've got it wrong) as it would make this addon very versatile indeed. It's the size of cargo aircraft that OFP has been screaming out for.
Major Gripe 0 Posted January 16, 2004 Will you give it a working ramp? When Spud releases this someone needs to do a civilian version for cargo and parachuting.
Heatseeker 0 Posted January 17, 2004 This horrible plane (not the model ) reminds me of sum russian KA-29 helicopter
Scud 0 Posted January 17, 2004 The Skyvan or (flying shed) is a good small plane. Built for the purpose of going where the larger transport planes wont go. We had them at Changi Air Base in the late 70's and I just did alittle research and these countries are still using them "Austria, Botswana, Ghana, Guyana, Indonesia, Japan, Malawi, Mauritania, Mexico, Nepal, North Yemen, Oman, Singapore, South Africa, UK, USA." well that was a list from 2001/2 it may have changed more or less by now. Scud 0 Posted January 18, 2004 I have made the seats fold away so now we can fit a jeep in the back. If somebody can help me the scripting that would be appreciated!! Also I have made the Plane with Repair capabilities - sort of a flying garage.
