How long have you been playing ofp?

Recommended Posts

Ah sigh the memories :

Disembarking from the truck going over the little hill and getting slaughtered cause you just didn t have a clue what was going on ...

I got a little further than you.

That's how I learned what a BMP is. tounge_o.gif  crazy_o.gif

Hehe i didn't get to that truck the first times that i played it. I drove around with that jeep without

understanding what to do...

I played the demo when it came out. Then a couple of months after the release i got the game.

From the first day the demo came out. Liked it, but did not became so much addicted after getting involved in MP play after joining Stoners House of Pancakes ~2 years ago.

I am sure; no better game than OFP has been made EVER!

one thing i must be honest about when posting; i think OPF's multiplayer code in the first several releases hurt them bad. i know alot of people that stopped playing because the game was extremely frustrating, especially gunning inside vehicles and the incredible lag. had the multiplayer code been as good as it is now i think thered be yet a much larger following of people.

I also remember my first MP experience.

Joined Ineo's clan called [Pz] back then and playing our first laddermatch.

I made a dash for the flag and got it, ran across the beach with it like a madman. An M113 was chasing me, i heard it closing in on me ( nobody had any flagruns by then and time was running out ) my heart was beating 160, adrenaline pumping, was nearly standing straight behind my pc, then came Ineo charging over the hill with a bmp, fragging the M113 and i brought in the flag smile_o.gif

We won that laddermatch, man was it great !

since the UK version is out, fall in love with OFP in the first touch, why i like OFP? may be because i have already been sick about idiot hardcored CSer, or may be just because it is the first and finest one i found on the market that time

i think most of us here have a simuler experence in the good old days, and in SP, the fear is so real that you feel like you are acturaly in a battlefield, thats one of the the magic in OFP thats keeps me on playing it

coop mission is my favorite type of MP gaming, simply because i had had enought on being player killer......

Well, I played it since the first release of the Demo here in Germany. I own the original CWC, RH and Resi. I also bought the GOTY when I broke my original CWC CD "sniff". Unfortunately I have almost no more time to play right now. The real action is taking over...  wow_o.gif  tounge_o.gif

Public Demo.

Me, AndOne, and possibly Adammo/Captain Moore helped touch-up the wording of the story dialogue in the Public Demo. (I was an external beta-tester but didn't have my testing copy, yet.) About the only thing that didn't turn out quite right was the "shoot, communicate, move, ah-ha!", which should have sounded more like it does in the Danny Devito, Gregory Hines (R.I.P., he looked just like my Drill Sergeant when I was doing Basic on that same post, Fort Jackson), and Mark Wahlberg movie "Renaissance Man".

And Adammo did a kick-ass job as a beta-tester. I think v1.00, thanks to Adammo, would have been far less than buggy if B.I. hadn't run out of time. As it was, it was far less buggy because of his beta-testing. He did extensive testing and packet-sniffing using his own LAN at home.

And if any of "The Veterans" (you know who you are) want to join my squad, just read the Recruitment page at the squad website and follow the directions. I've been playing lots of Desert Combat, lately. The mid-game joining makes multi a lot easier. (Can't wait until OFP has it.)

Ah goddarnit ,somebody ask's a simple question and the whole forum spams he thread with off-topic information like when they aquired the game.

To be on topic ,on the original question of the thread starting how long i have been playing Ofp my answer is 2946hours 17minutes 4sec's. (deducted is time in Afk to eat ,whizz ,smoke ,alt-tab for boss ,etc..)

I heard about OFP 3 months before the release. At that time, I was using an old P 200 MMX...    crazy_o.gif  I spent those 3 months to convince my parents to buy an other PC (telling them I needed one to go to University). They just bought it in July 2001 so I could buy the game when I saw it. I've been playing it for 2 year and a half and I haven't finished the main campaign yet...  sad_o.gif    smile_o.gif

I've been playing ofp for just over a year. Had a couple of months of break after I had to re-install my system. Installed the game again two weeks ago smile_o.gif

I played the demo some time it was just released.

And I loved the jeep so much, I wanted to drive it until the leader told me to stop it (You can tell I loved the buggy addon when it was released, I just played halo a month ago so that jeep years ago was fun). And I was really psyched during the truck drive. I remember the times where I couldn't shoot straight (even with ironsites) and I had to run through the trees and flank the guys up close (they shot me, naturally ^.^). And the tanks, that was funny. I remember just playing the mission again when I bought the real game and didn't see the cool ending mad_o.gif .

The funny thing was, heh, I sorta thought the game was tedious (dear god) and I forgot about it for awhile. I screwed up thing was that I would redownload the demo and play with it 3 times over the years jus' cause. Americans didn't pay attention to it and I didn't either. But then after Computer Gaming World published Bruce vs Tom in OFP CTF, I started getting interested again and again. After awhile, the curiousity grew.

When did I get Flashpoint?

Holy **** I bought Morrowind when flashpoint was right in front of my eyes. Longer gameplay, no way, just some excuse for boring to comatose gameplay. And then it was another month before I got the gold (one without RES) pack.

Next sad thing: The campaign was fun except for one thing. I copied the freaking strategy guide and that kids, isnotfun...

And I pretty much beat Red Hammer with the ENDMISSION cheat.

ghostface.gif Yes, horrible story I know. Sorry if the story has become R rated already

And as you can all guess, I didn't really learn how to commander well. At least I didn't ENDMISSION that freaking campaign. By the way, is bomberman not the freaking best sniper mission (bis, not user)?

Next messed up thing: I bought Ghost Recon: Island Thunder before Resistance. To make another long story short, GR:IT was not worth $20.

2 months pass

Then Resistance stopped selling at Best Buy (man, FUBAR) when it occured to my "dim" mind (actually I'm smarter than that) that it might be better than vanilla OFP.

Then I ordered it online for $5. (plus $8)

Downloaded all the BAS Deltas I was drooling over the month before. And flew off hills killing myself in the bike mission. Missions too hard, must actually play campaign...

Well, the Resistance campaign was the most enthralling campaign I played. My heart was thumping during every (tank) battle (hey, it's not one shot one kill smile_o.gif ). It also taught me actual commander tricks like hiding men manually and useing the danger command (yes, I was that "inept"). Too bad I realized that machine guns were overpowered. In later levels I would arm every man with a PK and rake far way enemies with fire. fun. And don't forget about running away from tanks in an ammo truck crazy_o.gif .

Finally ("Dear god grampa chiken! no more, no more!") I fiddled with the community's mods and maps and got owned again with user missions.

The rest is history - that's mine and I don't want to explain more

Anyone remember when most of BIS's mission were hard?

Thanks to the community for completely kicking my ass again and again with your missions. smile_o.gif
