  1. Hi there, Is it possible to remake the newset CTI version so you cant buy or command any AI soldiers/tanks/defences/everything to your own side. The mission would stil be the same but without the AIs on each side. The towns themself can have a neutral AI defending them at start but then i want it to end with a pure Player to Player battle. You know, locating the enemy base, doing raids, trying to infiltrate the enemy base with satchel charges and building up defences (with players controlling them) or trying to capture all of the unprotected towns and beating your opponent. If it is possible can anyone please create this? I cant figure out the editor :) the goal is to try and create a cool mission for PvP use, which would hopefully lead to an intence battlefield and better strategic placements of where your base should be. thank you for your help

    OP agrees, MW2 or BC2 really brings out the hate that arma 2 players have against such games, much of it is justified. It would be better to compare Arma2OAs animations towards the old OFP:res. In this case, it was better before.

    Ok, if we go back towards the animations of ofp:res they were much more smoother, faster and more reactive. Which i think gave the game a much more wider audience. When arma came out the animations went from very good to crippled. They were so slow and unresponsive but also much more realistic. But this also lead to the fact that many who liked to compete in this game towards other players (yea i actually find it more stimulating than the AI) tossed it away. Such moments as Wolfstriked is talking about are moments i´ve also had - in PvP fight, which makes me an easy target and a frustrated one. Frustrated bc i think the evolution hasent gone forward in a userfriendly way. I am not trying to make some crazy bunny hopping moves. But i am almost guarenteed that the people that embrace the animations of Arma1- Arma2OA are mostly coop players. There you can have the time and patience bc time doesent matter. in PvP time and points are key issues! and OFP had a much better area for us to compete in. So the animations we got since Arma1 has been such a kneecaping experience for all of us. It would be intresting to know why they changed the animations in between ofp:res to arma1? If it was up to me i would bring back the OFP:res animations bc they were great in both PvP and in coop. I think we loose alot of potential players the minute they realise they need an instruction showing them how to run. and players = money, and money leads to all of BI to make other great games and maybe even some money to them! They deserve it. And on further notice, I think i´ve practised enough. :D

    I know, and this is also another thing why my addiction to the game is die-hard, its much respectful. the connection between gamers and developers have always been good and easy. which is unique! since OFP gaming has always been my hobby, and a hobby i like sharing with other players. And its a shame that this game doesent get the credit it actually deserves. So you end up looking for answeres in why that is. I hope that we can get a boost in players so we can beging to have epic PvP moments again. And i think a shortcut to a future boost is to tweak the animations ;) I certainly agree that there has been a big improvement since A1 - A2OA. And i am happy that we are on the right path. I was concerned that alot of treads were of the mission and scripts type and not some the animations itself. Which i think, tweaking them, would give the game a big boost. a huge chunk of Respect delivered to Maruk

    thank you for a great response It is true that you dont have to plan that much in mw2. but that might be since all the maps combined in that game are probably as big as one town, generated in the editor. I agree with you when you say that this game take more planing, and patience. however the not so seamless animations have made this game crippled. I want this game to be more mainstream, and dont get me wrong. certain things cant be mainstrean but this one can. I hear what you say about the engine, and i can agree with you that it has improved since arma. Among many things! Yet again i think the development have prioritied the wrong things. Such as the animations. Quick and clean animations would not have made any difference to the gaming core. But i think it would have made a giant boost in the economy. And to grant a company such boost, a company that has given us all very much feed to our addiction, is only but right ;) Is it even possible to have animations in arma2:oa that are equal to games such as bad company 2? To Antigoon, i dont want this game to becomd Cod, god no. I only ask for more seamless animations that are in such games. Would that ruin the arma2 athmosphere? To Myke, I hear what you say and the point i was trying to make was that this game has never been good at the whole "clipping" issue. You find yourself stuck in a maze sometimes. And the gun, or the actual stick it looks like the soldier is holding can mess up your movements. move it close to a big rock or doorway and your soldier jumps out in a epileptic way. This is something that after Ofp:Res, should have been looked over and already been taken care off. Its 2010 now and we face the same problems as we did in like 2001 with CWC ;) There might be a good explination which Phantom gave conserning the engine itself. It feels like its a very hard subject, even mentioning the word MW2 or BC2 puts you in a folder where you want to remake the whole game to some arcade linjear crap. Come on, you dont have to defend the game. But i think its odd not to take a lesson in gaming and se what the other games are doing better than us. Yesterday arma 2 had like 20 servers. BC2 has to many to count. Now they cant be all bad, can they? Especially when it comes to a thing like animations?
  7. Hi there One thing i´ve always been thinking about is why you keep making the game less and less player friendly? Modern games today, such as MW2 and BC2 have much more arcade feeling to the movements. When playing them it feels i have absolute control over my character and i can concentrate my sences to the aiming and the surroundings. Since the game called Arma came out i always feel as if im not controlling, but wrestling my soldier forward. Zick zacking him into a building, hopefully not clipping my rifle in the doorframe so it feels as if i have an epilepsy attack. Dont get me wrong, i love the series. I have bought every game since CWC and played them frequently but this thing has been bugging me since Arma. Havent you ever though that you went to far with the realism? It is one thing to make a living and utterly intense battlefield, a thing you have created and allowed us to create for many years. But after making the athmosphere, cant you alow us to move free across it? I cant be the only guy, when seeing a smal rock or bush ingame, to think. Hmmm can i walk through them or will my guy do a noclip show and freeze mid-air. I am tired of only seeing 20 active servers in this game, about 1 - 2 of them PvP servers. When bullshit games like mw2 have bazillion gazillion of them. And i think a step to maybe 60 active servers would be to improve the soldier. And by improve i mean to remake or copy the way it was in OFP:Res. Thank you for your time. If this actually makes its way forward to the designers. Cheers and forgive my english and hate for fun-killing-realism.

    Cheat or not ?

    of course there will always be cheaters in every game, even tetris. but it is an overstatement to say that they are everywere when many many dodgy things can be explain so easily i really appriciate that you download cheats and see how they work to try and stop them, but this should be done only by a few, ie league admins or a team (this idea has been presented many times, but it has just ran through the sand) "Raptor, its not paranoia..." my post was mainly aimed at mal, most of his statements about players of this game are made from paranoia thought and you have to agree with me on that.

    dont start to make up storys that are not real. do you ever think that you might be ruining the whole experiense for players in MP before they even get the chanse to play it? (just by making some, everyone cheats and i´ve made screenshots using some cheat to proove it posts) for all the newcommers in ofp, that are planing on joining up to MP. dont listen to plenty of stuff that gets by paranoia people, there are not many cheaters out there and i wouldent think anyone would be so stupid to try one when we are on our third year playing this game non-stop stop trying to ruin other ppls chanse to join up into the MP malboeuf by saying that "which known Clans have been using in squad matches" blackden, well we all know that russian squads and other have different files. but this can actually be fixed by downloading like a euro files of the game from a friend (think that holms did this and it worked fine) other than that, if players have a mod file. it can be harmless but yet again it can be anything, and dont go and jump conclusions now. it might be the filechecker which is not working alright so get ur info straight before you start shouting out stuff there is no reason to be so paranoia, we have played the same maps for about 3 years now, the same hexenkessels, the same drop zones, the same little everon. sooner or later you get good at a map just by playing it. but remember its not how you remember the maps or not. its about how you move that is the key sorry for the bit offtopic post but i am getting real tired when a guy like this goes on and posts "which known Clans have been using in squad matches" when we know that the MP community is shrinking by the minute...     go play CS? it shocks that you would even consider me as an CS player. I started of as a Coop guy, played with toons of addons and had lots of fun, just like you guys do But i found it to be more fun in MP, now if you can´t respect that then fine. but dont tell me that i should go back and play something bad as CS. i´ve played this gamer since the awsome Demo came out. and i will continue doing it This movie was aimed at the "Right Rule" and the "Right Rule" only. Defenders are a completely differend matter which play in a style that doesent suit mine.   fine thats my problem not theirs. its me that have to addapt. I am sick and tired of ppl caling me a CS or UT or whatever player.  I come from a player like yourself belive it or not. and i have played this game as long or in some cases longer than you. respect my way of playing. bc i am respecting yours OFPs is a game of freedom, thats why we love it sry i had to make this post. but i think it was nesesary
