Got my original before ultimate upgrade 1, and that was released at about August 2001. And I was playing 1.00 for about a month, so probably July 2001, or less than a month after it's worldwide release.

hmm I think it was July 2001 when I bought OFP, few weeks after world release.

Resistance I bought 3 days after release in Finland and here we are now, it makes 2 and half years now.

And I still use both original CD's (tough 1.94 doesn't need any to run)

I only ever posted on AndOne's forum, but that's gone now. And so is he! *sob*   In fact, I vigorously protested the fact that OFPN took over the "official" forum role. I seem to remember it was plagued with 13 year old H4X0Rz back then, whereas AndOne's board had more mature fans like Uzi, Vikingo and James Mackenzie-Smith (where'd they all go, anyways?)

But I couldn't play it anyway with my P2 (without graphics card!) On April 12, 2002, I finally had a new computer. Been playing & editing in OFP ever since ...

I still have my original demo disc from the July 2001 issue of Computer Gaming World lol. I remember the picture of the Cobra on the cover is what got me interested. Even better is the headline on the cd sleeve for the demo: "Kill some pinko commies in this Cold War battlefield Simulator".

After playing the demo mission, I remember I downloaded a custom mission off the old AxleOnline website that let you drive all the vehicles that were available in the demo. After that I knew this game was gonna be special.

i started playig it, the first day it came out. i have waited for it very long, because before the release i read an article in a german gamers paper (???) and i was so impressed by ofp, so i decided to buy it. and i'll take it into my grave. it's the best game ever!

I played the demo and then waited long month until the game was out. Bought it the day it was out, end of June 2001 iirc. Those were cool days, americans bitching about having to wait a few month more (it's the other way round most of the times and you don't hear that much bitching and whining here in europe ) and the online community was small, everywhere you would meet the same players... but now we have that again, haven't we

Hehe me too. It was the first game I ever got that came in a DVD case, which I thought was emminently sensible compared to the book-sized boxes at the time.
