MrZig 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Howabout an animation that lets you shoot laws and rocket launchers while laying down? I hate being an easy target while shooting em, laying down and shooting 'em would be awesome! If anyone did this, or is doing it, please reply!
blackdog~ 0 Posted October 23, 2003 A person who is trained in the military would never lay down and fire an AT/AA weapon.
MrZig 0 Posted October 23, 2003 OFP aint real.. It'd be awesome to fire it on the ground!
GoOB 0 Posted October 23, 2003 *ERRR* You are incorrect sir! Some AT weapons are designed to be fired from a prone position. And also Swedish military use their m86's in prone position some times. The m86 is the "original" designation for the M136 AT4. So an animation for firing AT weapons when lying down is justifiable IMO. But not necessary since if you are running proper operation all tanks will be dead before they have a chance to shoot you.

thirtyg 0 Posted October 23, 2003 it would kinda burn ur legs I'm sure some of the guys who have fired these in RL have said in other threads it can be done and they have trained to do it. Anyway i'd like to see this as well.
stevevcb 3 Posted October 23, 2003 You lie with your body to one side, kinda firing the weapon across you. If I find a picture, I'll post it. It would be handy though, I'm sick of getting shot in the chops because I have to get up from the prone to shoot at tanks with a launcher.
Blink Dog 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Just like kooky said, you do have to take extra care when firing from the prone position and in general I would have to say it is ill advised. A standing position would be nice too.
edc 0 Posted October 23, 2003 There was a picture at OFP info a few days back from OGWC, it showed a guy standing(or walking, I can't remember) w/ an LAW on his shoulder.
blackdog~ 0 Posted October 23, 2003 If you fire it from the prone position, you must remember that the tube is heavy and with the cket iside it's een heavier. You would barely even have any room to aim up and down, only left and right, and if you shoot it the drop of the missle might amke it explode where you dont want it to explode
MrZig 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Standing and fireing a law or AT or whatever would be really hard to aim, it would be bouncing all over the place.. Anyone up to make an anim of laying down and shooting though?
SGTKOPP 0 Posted October 23, 2003 but in seven years of service i have never seen this done edit: firing postions
Blink Dog 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Well most modern laws and other AT weapons won't arm until the missle has traveled a certain distance, I think for the Carl Gustav this is 30m. This also has the disadvantage of creating a minimal range for your weapon too. Standing and firing a Law is easy, usually thats the position you are in when entrenched. With the Carl Gustav (really a recoiless rifle) the loader hugs you before firing since the muzzle blast is quite over whelming.
MrZig 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Can we NOT get in a debate whether it is possible in real life or it isn't? I just want to know if anyone is up to making it for OFP, a game

SGTKOPP 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Can we NOT get in a debate whether it is possible in real life or it isn't?I just want to know if anyone is up to making it for OFP, a game well now you have a debate because most people want the most realistic (within reason) game experiance they can get if you really want the animation go dl a tut or two and make it yourself
MrZig 0 Posted October 23, 2003 Argh. The main message for this thread was: Quote[/b] ]Howabout an animation that lets you shoot laws and rocket launchers while laying down?I hate being an easy target while shooting em, laying down and shooting 'em would be awesome! If anyone did this, or is doing it, please reply! Now, I asked if it was made or someone was making it and it turned into a debate. I'm just asking, is anyone makeing it or "can" someone? blackdog~ 0 Posted October 24, 2003 Standing and fireing a law or AT or whatever would be really hard to aim, it would be bouncing all over the place..Anyone up to make an anim of laying down and shooting though? Are you suggesting that their is a handheld full auto AT weapon used today?
MrZig 0 Posted October 24, 2003 Full auto? That'd be nice. No, I mean aiming would be REALLY hard if you were standing up holding a law. Anyone doing a laying down shoot the law mod?
hellfish6 7 Posted October 24, 2003 In infantry school we were trained to fire the AT4 from the prone position but, like SGTKOPP, I never saw it used in practice. Too much risk of catching the grass or brush behind you on fire, and then you have to spend the rest of the day with a shovel trying to put it all out. My only thing about the current AT animation is that it's kind of clunky. I feel incredibly exposed when I use it, because you can't quickly just drop it and move when you need to.
bmgarcangel 0 Posted October 24, 2003 i'd just like to put some info in this. If you layed down while shooting a AT it would be harder to move around and in some circumstances, follow the target. It would also be a pain in the ass considering it would be on fire
MrZig 0 Posted October 24, 2003 Quote[/b] ]pain in the ass considering it would be on fire LMAO that's funny. Ok, well, AT LEAST make it less "chunky". Mmmm... Chunky soup.. Er, yeah, I hate how long it takes you to "move" once fired.
bmgarcangel 0 Posted October 24, 2003 but it can be done though. Its just dangerous in a way
Sgt. Stryker 0 Posted October 24, 2003 mabye the inv44 team will make this possible for the piat because it used a spring mechanisim i believe and had no serious back blow. It's all right to want it, but most people make things in OFP to be realistic, is it a combat "simulator".
