Normandy alpha

sorry dude, but those yellow/brown patches are to simulate farmland. They're not all supposed to be corn fields ect. take a chopper and fly around. These are some corn field right around the group of houses in grid gf-25/26. See if you can find them there.

yeah, I've taken a tour of the island already, but didn't find them. But, I'll take another look tonight.

The defense wall part that connects the bunkers at Omaha beach has severe clipping problems (the bunkers themselves don't):

You can just run through the walls.

Nice island, tho. It's just alpha but already looks very promising (and not just for WW2 style missions).

DAM I tried to position ww2demo HMG in the bunker. They are laying down and can shooot through the walls.

I tried LMG and yes they will stand on and or in bunker but as soon as they hear a sound there down and will shoot ya through the walls. I tried mg nest I tried a few other variations but to no avail. I think the only use right now is to keep lmg standing up(looked for script). Other Ideas? maybe mg needs a crate,initialization to stand up only? I really want these bunks to be functional. (really deadly when your the only target)lol.

I can place the HMG or LMG inside np. He is on solid ground but when he lays down he shoots throught the walls.

Not sure who created the bunkers...I've heard of another creater GXT..GXD rock.gif Can't remember dudes call sign.I know there are some solid bunker addons out there. Apologize I can't remember name.

Trying to build a mission based on island but need to get past the first point.

Ah, is mentioned here now.. smile_o.gif Only thing I noticed was with the wheat/corn field. It seems that the coloring is really faded/dull from 3 sides, the other side looks "normal" (much more vibrant than the other 3.) Also, IMO, the wheat should be a bit thicker. (either each "stick" a tiny thicker, or more of them per row)

Beyond that, AMAZING.

This map is an exelent WWII island and makes any WWIIaddon feel right at home. very nice work on this island, very nice eye for detail as well. keep up the good work freind smile_o.gif

If you have fatwombats hitexture islands installed this map will not work, all textures are gone and you get ctds in the editor. No other island so far has been affected by fatwombats textures, which should only change everon, malden and kolgujev anyway...

this will happen on any map that uses original CWC island textures. You should have made back-ups for the islands before you installed the retex's like the readme said. I didnt back mine up and I have the same problem.... but the way I see it... maps with low res textures are not worth making missions on anyway. I did retexture this map with Res textures and it looks great biggrin_o.gif

There is no need to make backups as those are still on the flashpoint cd wink_o.gif

So it seems that the error is in the retextured island and not in the normandy island?!?

Just curious.

I haven't downloaded the Normandy alpha island. Don't have any other problems on any other island with FatWombat's islands installed.

@Avon: Do you have STT Desert Malden installed? There are incompatibilities, too. Time for a High-Res Version of Desert Malden, I like the island and don't want to give it up!

Easily: i turn off or on fatwombats textures with a mod and the normandy works or ctds accordingly. So there is definitively a problem between normandy and fatwombats textures. And for the record: i use LOTS of custom islands and never had any problems with those textures either.

When other players have the same problem with fatwombats textures and other islands (i think i removed sttabel from my server long time ago due to lack of missions) it is a strong indicator that the problem is caused by those textures and not by the normandy island. Or by some islands using lores cwc textures which are not present in this mod anymore. Of course you could blame those islands for using original cwc textures wink_o.gif

there is no error invoved.... the reason you are getting no textures on normandy is b/c they dont exist anymore. you replaced them with fatwombats textures. you WILL have the same problem with any map that uses the old low res textures from CWC islands.

my retexture was just a quickie job using only one green texture. when he completes the final version I will make a high res version and release it if he gives me permission. I really hate low res ground textures.... they look like ass on my machine blues.gif

More importantly it should be mentioned that there is a new version of this island out on ofp.info that nobody mentioned here. sad_o.gif

Yes, there is a v2 out, thats the version we cant get to work on a dedicated server. We had to make the clients use the v2 and the server use the alpha version, which works ok but the clients get a modified wrp message.

I made a quick test mission and installed v2 on our server and it crashes too when i try to start the mission.

Hi there... Now, I'm just wondering/ asking gently:

Aproxomatly how long will it be untill the GREAT island is finished.

Because I'm concidering on installing ofp back on my machine and start on a ww2 campain and if it's like half a year unttill it's done then maby I will use a nother island...

I have jean's e-mail adress ,so i have send an e-mail asking him to reply here.

Although i figure Jean himself doesn't really know when he will be ready.And i don't want to rush him ,he does a great job on this island with a lot of effort ,making his own houses ,enviromentals ,everything you want.
