Jonno 0 Posted September 23, 2003 I thought rather than drag up the old, now rather large cumbersome thread, Id start a nice clean one, how better to start it with the first ingame (early BETA) screens of the updated infantry. Possibly the last released screenshot, before we release them, sometime between now and Xmas, no set date yet, we may hold off on the release to add a few extras, than we have had planned. vade_101 0 Posted September 23, 2003 Quote[/b] ]What will be included in the pack? Definitly in are: The Infantry ("generic", and regimental) The Royal Marines The Parachute Regiment SA-80 / L85A2 ICW (Rifle Grenades, AG36) SA-80 / L85A2 LSW L7A2 General Purpose Machine Gun Browning Pistol FN-Minimi Probably some other stuff too.. just as a side note, all of those units in the pics are the same model, the only thing that is changed is the init line... Jonno 0 Posted September 23, 2003 As it stands. Generic Infantry: various regiments, but possibly an option for users to easily add their own (a change of beret colour, and badge/flashes) Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Parachute Regt. Royal Marines various types of webbing and gear, then the weapons of course. Not being to detailed, as the final content isnt conclusive, and it would take a while to list all the various webbing and gear. Then we are thinking to update the packs at a later date with new anims included, and some additional hardware to play with. *edit* and what Vade said
SpearheadUK 0 Posted September 23, 2003 im prety much a UK army expert and just wondering if: *could you get rid of goggles? (i have never, ever seen any uk solider wear goggles, and i lived on the biggest army garrison in britian {apolagise if wrong}) * cammo netting with leaves, unless thats a limatation of ofp *in combat, they wear sort of like a vest with straps and little bags on them apart from that it looks great, why cant we see more great UK addons like these? edc 0 Posted September 23, 2003 Looks nice! Though, do they really where those little feathers in their beret's?
SpearheadUK 0 Posted September 23, 2003 yes, they look good in parades, the troops look like red bushes
Jonno 0 Posted September 23, 2003 we have already put an option in, so that you can remove the goggles with 1 line in the init. How does camo netting directly relate to the units? You mean a PLCE assault vest, if so we are doing some units with them, the vest is not finished yet though. and finally thanks for the compliments and feedback
Jonno 0 Posted September 23, 2003 well the Fusiliers have those feathers in their berets, so it wouldnt be realistic not to, and the proper name is hackle. "Our Regimental hackle is the red over white hackle of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers to whom it was awarded as a battle honour in recognition of their victory over the French at St Lucia in 1778. Following the defeat of the French, the Fusiliers took the white plumes from the head-dress of their enemy and wore them in their own caps. 221 years later, four Fusiliers were on board HMS NORTHUMERLAND when she visted St Lucia in October 1999." I saw something on the other thread about random soldier acessories. Will this be implemented in the final version? Like if soldier A is placed on the field he might have his field goggles on at one time, and the next time they will be off. And these units are looking really good! I hope you make some nice demo missions for them aswell, I have been looking forward to playing with some British soldiers in OFP for so long now
Jonno 0 Posted September 24, 2003 we have spoken extensively about having random webbing etc, but we havent come to a final decision yet. Its either that way, or the player chooses what each unit has, in the init line, or script.
jotte 0 Posted September 24, 2003 Excellent work! The variations via the init line is a nice touch. Looking forward to these "stiff upper lip"-guys.
soul_assassin 1750 Posted September 25, 2003 Unfortunately the randomization thing works very croockedly on soldiers. We have been experimenting and came to bad results such as these randomizations not happening when the soldiers start in a vehicle for example.
