Tigershark_BAS 0 Posted September 22, 2003 Liked the addon...but didn't like the skin much....not a lot of attention to detail and I PM the author about helping out...alas....no reply. Anyway....been working on a little side project getting this baby textured realistically. Changed the colors, the tail numbers to use USAF font, plus real airframe number codes. Given Footmunch's reaction to Sxep and DigitalCenturion doing retextures to his planes, I don't think he is one to throw a hissy fit, just as long as he is properly credited in the readme when released. Do you make addons for the fun of it or do you care about everyone else and what they think? If you're making it for what everyone else thinks then you are a glory hound. Other then that stay off the forums if you can't hack a little criticism. Mod's don't close this thread, there is an example here to be learned from. We all know you make quality addons, and don't release half-done addons, this is why we love your work. Please, don't forget about it, it wasn't a bad idea, it was a great one, for i loved the plane and always hoped someone would do a retexture of it, just to give it that little bit more class. To be honest, everytime I see one of the BAS boys working on a side project, I think, now theres an addon with quality, and then I think about just how much hard work they put into it, making numerous alphas and betas, with different skins and capabilities, and for that, the community is eternally greatful for your work. I feel empathy for all addon makers. In real life I have to deal with people who make annoying little minute inputs all the time, but I don't listen to them too much, why? Because I don't care about what they think, they can think whatever they want to think, but I'll do my job as I see fit. I have to reply, "Yes sir", or "I'll get right to it maa'm" wheras I really wanna say "Yeah, you know what. No shit Sherlock, now stop bitchin or buy something, piss off and don't come back." Unfortunatly, I run into them on the forums when I come home from work and school as well. Constructive criticism i.e. "this is a good addon but needs a little work on the textures" or "this model APC only has one door, not two", are acceptable. #2 - If modmakers are unable to accept constructive criticism without reacting in a childish and insulting manner, don't bother posting here. Everyone involved in either side of the flaming and flame baiting here can expect a warning level increase box in the next few minutes (proportional to the level of flaming). Any repeat performance will be perm ban - no ifs, buts, or maybes. [On a personal note: FFS, can't you people treat each other with a modicum of respect? Addon makers work hard to give you a free product, and don't appreciate rude and/or sarcastic comments about their addons - conversely, constructive criticism shouldn't be met with a nonsensical, angry rant] Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
