Powerslide 0 Posted August 31, 2003 Here is the first of a great new series of wheeled armor class, the LAV III and the Bison. The LAV III ISC carries 10 units and has a 25 mm turret for defense. It includes animations for the back door and for hatches. The Bison has a hatch mounted C6 MG and can carry an 8 man section in the back. Special thanks to Red Hammer Studios for the burn scripts. Heres what Sigma had to say: The LAV-III Infantry Section Carrier (APC) is the first (and only) vehicle from the Mowag/GM Defense Canada Piranha/LAV III series purchased by the Canadian forces. It replaces the Grizzly, Bison, and M113 as the standard section Carrier for Canada's Infantry regiments. Known officially as the "Kodiak" in keeping with the 'animal' naming convention of CF vehicles, it is simply known as LAV-III byt the troops. It uses the same basic hull as the US "Stryker" LAV for which it was the basis of the US' selection of that vehicle, however, there are several very important distinctions, not the least of which is the fact that the Canadian LAV-III has a stabilized Delco 25mm two-man turret and is thus capable of defending itself against hard targets, providing direct fire support for its section, and firing on the move, where the Stryker has only a small remotely operated machine gun and cannot fire on the move. This addon contains the BETA version of the LAV-III [Kodiak] ISC (Infantry Section Carrier
Eviscerator 0 Posted August 31, 2003 *cough* Gonna give us a download link then? Edit: Just seen its on the page in your signature, however it requires some other addons that are very large, is there no way it can be made standalone, so it requires no other addons? I can see the fact it requires an awful lot of other addons putting people off of it, and its a shame as its a beautiful looking addon.
Powerslide 0 Posted August 31, 2003 You don't have our site in your favorites? Hmmm. Go here to download them!

No sorry, it's a Canadian unit and has Canadian crew, so if people dont want it because of that oh well. All it actually requires is our main troops download, which isnt much. The other pbo is included in the LAV. And besides anyone who doesn't have our other stuff is missing out IMO.

Shashman 0 Posted August 31, 2003 SWEEET! I was just about to post a request for the Bison as the Belgian army use it.I was just browsing through my photos of the Belgian National Day Parade 2002 and found it  Slightly different version with semi-turret used by Belgian Army (add a space at the end of the URL ;) )
edc 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Great! I guess if you wanted to use it w/o other addons, you could just unpbo it and change the crews.

Powerslide 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Great! I guess if you wanted to use it w/o other addons, you could just unpbo it and change the crews. Ya if people want to thats fine, the cpp is open source and was left unbinarized.
Lt_Damage 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Ok cool, that is considerate of you to allow us to do that. We already have 100's of MB's of addons already and we won't need the crew as we'll be using Aussie units. Thankyou for your great addon work. Regards,
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 Hey, the Bison is an 8 wheeled LAV. . . that Belgian LAV is a Mowag LAV-1 like the Canadian Cougar and Grizzly. . .

edc 0 Posted September 1, 2003 One question, is the LAV III amphibious IRL?
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 a:Even though Aussies don't use either of these vehicles? b: no, the LAV-III floats IRL, but is not strictly amphibious because it doesn't have props, etc. . . The Bison is, though.
Major Fubar 0 Posted September 1, 2003 So it's different than our (Aussie) one? Man, these LAVs are confusing... ASLAV
robic 0 Posted September 1, 2003 That Aussie one is based on the Mowag LAV-II platform, just like the US Marines LAV-25 and Canadian Coyote, not the newer LAV-III design.
DracoPaladore 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Great! I guess if you wanted to use it w/o other addons, you could just unpbo it and change the crews. Ya if people want to thats fine, the cpp is open source and was left unbinarized. You can even just make an empty vehicle. Lets say: Empty->Canadian->Bison(or where ever it is) West(or East)->Men->Pilot or crew Name the LAV or Bison whatever name. Put this in the Init line of the crew or pilot: this moveinGunner LAVIII or this moveinDriver LAVIII or this moveinCommander LAVIII
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 Yeah, in fact, the ASLAV is basically a one-off of the USMC LAV-25. They're confusing for the first bit, yeah, but once you get used to them, you see that there are three distinct types (1, 2, and 3) and then it's all about the number of wheels and more cosmetic differences. If you go to the Mowag site: Motorwagenfabrik, there's likely a very good guide tot he distinctions. I'm thinking about making an ASLAV for when the Coyote releases. One 0 Posted September 1, 2003 for these new released vehicles, are the crew supposed to be regular infantry, or should they be armored crewmen?
bonko the sane 2 Posted September 1, 2003 Very nice Just 1 small detail: The LAVIII has no optics in commander seat, anyone else having that problem or its supposed to be that way?
coporal_punishment 0 Posted September 1, 2003 EDIT Never Mind
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 They're infantry section Carriers. There's no 'crew' to speak of, they're run by, and part of, an infantry section. Can't make optics for the Commander, it's one of the many limitations of the wheeled class. . . if you want him to see the battlefield, the command view (external) is your only option. Lt_Damage 0 Posted September 1, 2003 What do you reckon Fubar, wait for the ASLAV, the aussie one, or want me to edit this one for our server?
Sigma-6 29 Posted September 1, 2003 I'd rather you didn't distribute an edited version. . . The ASLAV will be released soon, and there's little reason to use a LAV that is not the correct vehicle.
Antichrist 0 Posted September 1, 2003 I have a problem with game slow down when looking at LAVIII from the front! Otherwise everything runs smooth but as soon as I look at it from the front the textures all over the place start to change and the game slows down to a crawl! And textures definitely need improving!
