Yep, just saw that farce in mens 100m. This new disqualifying rule is not very good in my opinion. And also what I heard from one of the sprinters through tv, is that no one really likes it at all .

I really don't like 100m anyway, it's just so ridiculous today. Long live the marathon, 10000m, 5000m etc. .

Clearly the judges are anti-American, I think we should invade whichever country is holding the championships

Rules are rules and should be followed, no matter what opinions they have. They are made by the federation and not by the judges. Childish behaviour from the audience only punishes the atheletes afterwards.

Decathlon and Heptathlon are the ultimate in Atheltics and perhaps sports in general imo(on par with Triathlon). Nothing is more demanding than having an even result in 7/10 events in a row.

So of course I'm very happy that Carolina Klûft took the gold medal for us Swedes today .

Now let's see if we can follow up with the triple jump. I think Mr Bean erm Jonathan Edwards will have a tough time.

Another fantastic performance by Gebreselassie and the other Ethiopians with the triple win. He is an incredible sportsman.

Heheh, takes a lot of guts to put on such a show ...

I was a bit surprised how they let him stay there, after all, the security is pretty tight and is able to catch naked people running across the field, but fails to remove a protesting runner :P

There can only be so many Dreschler in a country . It's our turn to get some of that for once.

I'm hoping for at least 1 more medal in high jump, after that I'm happy.

As long as they don't totally collapse in the Olympics. No point in showing off here if you can't do it when the real deal comes next year .

Muahahaha US pretty much own track and field these days, have to have somethin to make up for the ass beatings we take every year in the winter olympics.

But just wait, couple more years and we going to shock everyone and win the medal race at a winter olympics :P

I'm actually extremelly dissapointed with the US performances on the short track events this year. No 100m medals(in an unusually bleak final) and right now it looks tough on 110m hurdles.

Could be that the competition from the Carribbean is getting too tough nowadays. After all they pretty much all train in the famous Californian clubs.

On the bright side. Great performance by Pappas in Decathlon so far. It's after all my favourite event in athletics.

Regarding Winter Olympics. Yes and no medals for Norway so far. Muhahaha (just kidding)

There goes another fiasco championship for Finnish athletics. Maybe they are regretting the decision to send over javelin coaches to Germany

Well for us Swedes this has been a great championship. Maybe a medal tomorrow to round things up

Pity we didnt do this well when we had the athletics in my city (Gothenburg) the arrangement is still ranked as one of the top 3 of all . We have to suffice with the Euros next year, not too bad I think.

so far this championship wasn't very good for Germany too. no gold, only one silver and two bronze. we were even beaten by the Brits and Canadians in the Rowing world championships today!
