miles teg 1 Posted August 18, 2003 These are really nice helicopters. It's great to finally have a good collection of British helicopters. Now I just wish UKforces or the Falklands mod team would release some more British infantry or some British tanks or APC's. The best so far is Quakergamer's old Challenger tank. I'd really like to see a Scorpion, Scimitar, Warrior, and FV432 along with of coarse a high quality Challenger 2 MBT. Anyhoo...if you don't mind the Spanish language stuff on it, these helicopters are great for using either with the Mavinas mod British troops or with the UKforces Royal Marines (currently the only modern British infantry addon). tankieboy 0 Posted August 19, 2003 The UKforces Royal Marines (currently the only modern British infantry addon). Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> Is that so...
miles teg 1 Posted August 19, 2003 Well if you know of any other modern British infantry addons (aside from the old pre-resistance addons) then feel free to post away. Â But it's been ages since UK Forces released any addons. Â From what I hear UK Forces is still making lots of addons, but it would be nice if they actually released some of it. Â Anyways, back to the choppers... While they are beautiful models, one big problem I noticed was that the Seaking and Chinook choppers badly need a door gun. On the LZ they are sitting ducks even with the Gazelles providing air cover. In fact on one LZ, the Gazelle with the rocket pods shot up a bunch of African soldiers (Bibmi's African militia) and accidentally blew up one of the Seaking helicopters with a rocket. So a nice GMPG as a doorgun (like on the blue Royal Navy Gazelle) is really needed I think on the Seakings and the Chinook. I'd rather have a door gunner then an animated opening door. Also it would be fantastic if the Seaking had some rappelling scripts like the Operation Frenchpoint mod's Super Puma helicopters. But aside from that I haven't found any real bugs in these choppers and the British pilots look absolutely superb. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

I noticed that alot of groups tend to go nuts making new addons and never finish any of them. But I hope you guys will buck that trend and release maybe at least just one addon sometime soon. killagee 0 Posted August 19, 2003 I recommend all the addons this Mod has made. They are really good! espesially the A109.
hellfish6 7 Posted August 19, 2003 I'd like to see dust scripts on the final versions. Door guns, I can live without them. Go with whatever is historically accurate. Otherwise, I like them all very much.
Dauragon 0 Posted August 20, 2003 what i'd really love to see is a Lynx with fastrope feature (if it can i think? dunno )
miles teg 1 Posted August 20, 2003 The Seaking's and Chinooks didn't carry doorguns in combat? Â I know for sure I've seen RAF Chinooks decked out with machine guns on both sides and on the rear cargo door when they were used recently in Afghanistan. Â I just can't imagine any big cargo helicopter going into a combat zone completely unarmed. Â Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
hellfish6 7 Posted August 20, 2003 I don't know if they were armed during the Falklands conflict - I don't even know if they were exposed to hostile ground fire.
miles teg 1 Posted August 20, 2003 Well, all I know is that when I use them, they definitely get exposed to a lot of hostile fire. Flying into a hot LZ is half the fun afterall as you hear that lovely "ping, ping, ping!" of bullets hitting your chopper and tracers going by the cockpit (or smacking into crew members or passengers). I've gotten really good at commanding door gunners to take out whole squads of enemies. You just target them, fly a circuit around the target with the doorgunner facing the enemy, and even after he kills the first target, he usually spots and shoots any other enemy soldiers near the first target you designated. In multiplayer games I've also had tons of fun playing as a doorgunner covering my team mates during insertions, extractions, and providing air support when they got into trouble. All in all doorgunners I think just provide alot more fun and I'm almost 100% positive, that in most countries its standard procedure to mount doorguns on any cargo helicopter that is flying into potentially hostile airspace. Anyhoo... even so, I'm pretty happy with these choppers, and one of the Gazelle has a great door gun that's a ton of fun! I just wish the Malvinas Mod team would release an updated island that's a bit bigger. But until then I suppose some good missions launching British troops from the Falklands MOD's Hermes aircraft carrier will be very cool using the current Malvinas mod soldiers, and perhaps supported by the Falklands mod's Harrier jets while the Argentinians assault via their Pumas and other helicopters in the earlier heli pack.... although I'm not sure where they'd extract to because the island is so damn small. killagee 0 Posted August 20, 2003 British helicopters definately came under hostile ground fire in the Falklands. The are pictures in my Falkands War magazines of a sea king and gazelle with large claibre holes in them. In the BBC series of documentary on the Falklands war it had some interesting footage of a sea king forced to land on a hillside thinking it was under flak fire. Actually they were shells from British ships in the harbour firing against argentinian A-4 skyhawks that were bombing them. The skyhawks sunk two ships and damaged more. The footage from this attack is truly frightning, and gives a good account of the use of blowpipe and Rapier SAM's. On of the pilots ejected and was taken aboard a british ship, where he didnt get medical attention for awhile. The footage of lifeboats full of burnt and wounded british sailors is very intense... sgt.elias31 0 Posted August 20, 2003 Do i need to have the old pack? Whenever i go into the editor only the the chinook shows up under the malvinas air thing and if i try to use it , it crashes my game.
RAF_Maverick 0 Posted August 20, 2003 Great add-ons, i've been waiting for a seaking for a good while now, altough i think it should have had a float script built in, as seakings can float to a limited extent. Oh, and btw Sgt Elias, the other choppers are on the East side
