Just kidding.  

Once again Footmunch you have released absolutely amazing work!!!  I LOVE what you did with the Mig-21's, especially how now the canopy glass is structured correctly.  Excellent work!    Thank you VERY much for adding the regular number and arabic number feature to the Mig-27.   This makes it an awesome one size fits all type of addon.   I hope Digital Centurion sends you a great desert skin.  He's really good at skinning I think.   That and a fix of the afterburner problem I think would definitely finalize the Mig-27 and make it I think one of the top aircraft addons in OFP.... oh, that and a Mig-23 variant.   hehehe...

Oh and that bomb camera is very cool!!!

But like others said, you have really tackled many of the major problems in aircraft addons successfully.  I hope that your roundel/number system will become standardized in addons by other addon makers and mod teams, not just for aircraft, but for ground vehicles as well.  

Anyways all I can say is that YOU ROCK Footmunch!!!

Top Cover - The "r_fia.paa" file was not in the latest

version of rktroundels.pbo - pure error on my part. I'll update

the roundel pbo, but in the mean time, the r_fia.paa is

in the rktmig17.pbo file. So, just for this roundel, the init

line is:

I won't take the FIA roundel out of the MiG-17, so you can

distribute/play missions like this.

As for you guys taking the Flogger to Mach 5, I'll implement

an upper limit on the speed. After that, the cockpit, and the

Flogger will be released.

The Superflanker (or at least the Su-34) is currently 'booked'

by Hudson and Pennywise. I guess I could look into an Su-35

(the single seat interceptor with the canards).

<>Crippler<> - If you need any help, PM me. I'm currently

looking into the wingtip vortices you mentioned...

Footmunch could you think of making 2 seated Migs?

Could be nice for ofp, because you can pick up some buddy or just use the plane together.

There is only the Hawk for this purpos.

Oh, and what´s with the different loadouts for the Mig27?

are you replacing the fuelpods with bombracks?

Because i don´t really liek those fuelpods on planes.(not particular your plane)

Added much more weathering then on my last skins.

the screens is not good lookn.

the weathering looks really nice ingame.

FM, splendid work on the flogger, your getting better and better!

About the mig17 though, thanks for updating its flying caracteristics but perhaps you can boost them a little(or huge) bit more before finalizing it...also I'm still stuck with it

having a completely white cockpitframe...maybe my GPU, dunno (?).

In any cause, the plane starts to look pretty good now, but imo it's mp use is still a little bit too limited due to its slow speed (which is fine) and rather poor turningradius.

Those 2 combined make it a pretty easy target for whatever you put it up against.

(I know, putting up a mig17 against a f/a 18 would be rediculous but I'm mainly talking about a general level of battlefield survivability here)

Congrats on your bombcamera idea, it rocks...I'd realy like to see this baby become mature asap.

It would be excellent to simulate some kind of lantirn-pod with the crosshairs etc we've all become so familiar with out of the Gulf-war.

(Maybe it's an idea to setup the Buc with the pod and pair it with Tornado's as was the case in 1991smile_o.gif

Also, on the camera itself I'd like to see a abort-function integrated, which would be very usefull when flying through hazerdous terrain like steep slopes and cannyons.

Footmunch how about adding somekind of filter/window to the Bomb. So you have somekind of camera feeling.

If some one likes the texture..maybe ask FM to add it to a pack  wink_o.gif

And still FM there are those white and black spots on the plane that should be applied to the side texture.

And of course the Engine need textures.

PS: Whats with the back of the Cockpit?

     Its like a triangle..should be round i think.

better the hole Back/Top of the model needs to be more plastical.. not so flat...i added texture/plates there, but thats not so goodlooking.

SXEP -

Problem with two-seaters is twice as much cockpit work,

which I don't like doing at the best of times (this is the reason

the Vulcan is taking so long). If the other pos is cargo, the

other guy just sits there looking around. If they're gunner,

then you've got the whole you target/ they shoot thing,

which I think is okay in a tank, but doesn't work too well in a

fast-moving plane. If anyone wants to take the current

models and create new 2-seater versions, feel free. If

you really want a buddy along, just give him another plane.

Now, you can have different number designations as well. For

a 2-seat Frogfoot, I wonder whether a Su-39 might be a

better starting point.

Loadout's may well change - I can put just about anything

on any station, so it's just a matter of deciding what goes

where.

Nice desert camo. Maybe add another tone underneath the

panel lines? When you've got texes that you're happy with,

PM me, and we'll go to email for the exchange.

There are a few bits and bobs to re-tex - engine, tail pod,

inlets. I'll take a look at the fuselage behind the cockpit as

well - less triangular is a definite.

KH - Thanks for the offer on PM, but like I said above, I doubt

I'll do it.

Mox - More maneuvarability? I'll bump it up, and see how it

goes. To be fair, the -17 shouldn't pose _any_ real world

threat to any of the US 'teen fighters. Also, it should be a

fairly easy target for modern missile systems, from MANPAD

on up. This comes down to an "era" discussion - do we want

(for example) WW2 Tiger's to be competitive with BIS M60's?

The -17 should really duke it out with the Thud, F5-A and

possibly Bratty's Korean Corsair.

Cockpit frames are textured with a white tex- not a GPU

problem. I'll fix them soon.

The abort will be hard, because it's not clear right now that

the OFP engine is doing during the drop phase - basically it's

a miracle that it works at all. Work progresses.

And indeed, a filter into the bombcamera was excactly what I meant before, I think something like the satelite spycam on ofpec.com orso would be great.

Agreed, no era discussion necessary regaring the mig 17, my point's that its one hell of a addon and would simply like

to see it's integration probability into the community somewhat increased. (meaning noone likes a plane which gets shot out of the sky too easy, even against another mediocre opponent which just happens to have less realistic flying carateristics but therefore becomes more enjoyable in the game)

I noticed something when i use the Mig27 against the BAS kiowa (right?)

When you fire a AA missile at it, it quickly gains hight(chopper)

and so the Rocket flys past it underneath.

Didn´t notice that before  wink_o.gif

Maybe has nothing to do with your plane FM.

And i noticed when i unpacked the pbo there are textures for the rocketlauncher in it.

So is there any init line  so i can edit the loadout myself?

Love the bomb cam script. can we have some more please?

The Mig-17 is spoiled by it lack of ground attack capability which is its primary role in Albania and North Korea today, its such a shame to waste your kickass cannon effects on an AI that won't target anything ont he ground no matter how big it is, the addition of a few light bombs like the Kab250s that you already put on the IL-2 would be handy too.

These planes are great footmunch. Nice work but you should think about getting all the textures done before your next release. On most of your planes there are parts that are not textured. The cockpits in the mig 17 and 21 also lack textures on the window supports. Other than that these aircraft are very nice.

I agree that it would be nice to allow the Mig-17's to have some ground attack capability as they do make great ground attack aircraft with those cannons.

Maybe a dedicated ground attack version would be cool with some rocket pods in addition to the cannons.

Alright, I'll add irScanGround to the -17. Man, you people are

persistent. After a few checks on how the AI likes it, I'll

re-release. Bombs, you say? Perhaps.

Sxep's sound and vision enhancements will be incorporated

this week.

'Block Textures' - the large pieces of the model that are

a blank (usually white or black) colour are part of the beta

process. I can't promise that every single inch of the final

addons will be perfect, but I will always listen if people really

dislike particular bits and bobs.

Mox - I think we're on the same side of this argument. But to

make things a little clearer:

I'd like people to use the addons, but if it means making

MiG-17's go 3000 kph, then I think I'll pass.

I can't be responsible for the fact that some addons don't

necessarily represent the real world systems they simulate -

at the same time, the large number of addons out there

means that there will always be one matchup that isn't fair.

The other extreme is to have 10 MiG-17 versions, with a

sliding scale on max speed and control surface authority, and

the mission-maker picks the right one to match against the

opposition. I think we can all agree that this isn't the best

idea, and will lead to confusion.

Basically, if we want a -17 that can dogfight with an F-22,

that's okay, but wouldn't it be better to have planes that

have a range of abilities, so that if you're up against a Raptor,

you should get a Fulcrum?

Try the new -17 handling (probably this Friday, or early next

week), and we'll see.
