miles teg 1 Posted April 27, 2003 Are any of the MOD teams or any addonmakers planning on releasing a USMC AV-8B Harrier II? With the new STOL/VTOL scripts it would be very nice if someone could perhaps help Vit fix his up, or ask Col. Klink to use and modify his AV-8 model or to assist him with the AV-8B model that from what I understand, he has on the backburner until the Falklands MOD is complete. That's of coarse if either of these addon makers want any assistance with these things. If not, I hope someone makes a new USMC AV-8B model and takes advantage of these awesome new STOL/VTOL scripts. Guest DKM-jaguar Posted April 27, 2003 Yes, i can tell you one maker. DKM is planning one, but we shal see if there are many around when we come to making it. the one we are making will be the AV-B otherwise know as Harrier 2. It will be in either USAAF colours and markings, or those of the USMC. If we decide to make this addon, it will be fully operational as the one by Falklands mod is, and we want to produce addons that can be comparable to the highest quality ones, so people will expect VTOL from now on. I am also pushing for a Harrier GR7 AS WELL. Â Any VTOL capable aircraft from DKM may also result in the V22 Osprey being released, as we will not be releasing it without VTOL working, otherwise it is just another aircraft. Let the old argument rest. Â osprey model shot:

edc 0 Posted April 27, 2003 What do you mean? I believe there's been addons w/ multiple animations(falklands harrier has several jet exhaust things that swivel, martin bell 47 civvie has two doors opening)
MLF 0 Posted April 27, 2003 he means you cant titl thr roters back while the rotors actually spin.
ExtracTioN 0 Posted April 27, 2003 Well I heard that from Tysiek he was working on a V-22 and said it was impossible to do the roter animations he said engine limitation
Guest BratZ Posted April 27, 2003 I think its very possible, read my motto
FW200 0 Posted April 27, 2003 Sure its possible..just dont make it turn.. but use hiddenselections instead.. just make a few sets of engines + props.. and make them dissapear in the correct order to simulate turning the enginese.. its jumpy (jumps from engine to engine) but it works combine that with a VTOL script and your done
miles teg 1 Posted April 27, 2003 Wow! FW200 that idea sounds very good. I hope that someone tries that out to get a V-22 Osprey working. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

black__bird 0 Posted April 27, 2003 "It will be in either USAAF colours and markings, or those of the USMC." I understood it as that only the USMC uses the Harrier in the US inventory. the USAF doesnt have any harriers. *note USAAF was done away with after World War 2, when it became a separate branch of service from the United States Army Air Corp( also known as the United States Army Air Force)

It was later to become USAF, and I think the AV8B is solely used by the USMC EDIT: ehh... looks like black_bird was faster (like the SR-71 Blackbird )
Sole 0 Posted April 27, 2003 Maybe it was a typo or maybe he meant the United States of America Air Force?
Guest DKM-jaguar Posted April 29, 2003 HMMM USA air force is what i meant, i wrote this without knowing that the marines only used the AV-8B. oh well, i'll live. And a variation to the idea of rotors: you have standard engines, but make the moving wings in this way. It will be better as you will notice the engines a lot more becuase they are on all the time, whereas you will onyl move the wings after long intervals. Good idea, we wil have to look into it IF WE AKE THE DAMN THING
